All the guards in M3 do is countering the FHT or scoutcar.
Everything else will just kill it (well, maybe not Pios, except if they have flamethrowers) |
Another counter would be the flame HT. Though that is very munitions heavy. |
Rule of thumb is here is to save muni for the nades, and skip other upgrades (like flamerthrower on pios or lmgs on Grens).
Also getting a mortar out is a good option to deal with them.
staying at range might not be the best option seeing as conscripts are good at range (conscripts with PPsH still have 4 mosin nagants in the squad) So they profit from HTD and beeing good at range.

PIV still get absolutely raped by SU85 as they can't really penetrate so the damage increase isn't meaningful... haven't had a chance to test vs T34 but I bet they do really well.
Well, before the change the P4 had (except for penetration) the exact same stats on the gun as the T34. Now the P4 gets a damage increase to double damage while still having better armor.
And all that for only 80Mp and 20 fuel more.
I don't see that being "fair" (in lack of a better word right now), since the T34 doesn't hit the field as fast now (due to increased fuel price) |

Yes, it also was some mismicro of your part, but, what i draw out of it is, if he would have skipped T1 for another guard squad it would have been 2 guards vs 1 FHT, which they just rip apart.
Yeah, he did quite well as soon as he saw you with his tanks, but it was a bad idea to just rush in.
But, what this shows me, is that it is definitely a viable strategy, because you have an answer for everything the german throws at you.
The T34-85 are really beasts and what is the fun part is that as soon as you hit lvl4 they come instant via call-in as a pair of two. Which totally dominates that early.
The T34-85 is also a beast anti-infantry, because it does twice the damage at the same radius than the basic T34.
The fire rate is quite low though, so the overall dps is only 2 higher, but it has some better piercing against tanks.

Grens better than Conscripts at range? I think it's the other way around if anything. Really though it mostly comes down to luck...
If you are referring to me, that's what i said. "Grens better vs Cons the closer you get" == "Cons are better at range".
But yeah, it also comes down to luck, but you have a higher chance of winning the closer you get. |
Seeing as grens are better as conscripts the closer you get (they lose to conscripts at range), have you ever though of walking towards the cons while they throw the molotov instead of away? |
1.) It is not different to the Russian AT-gun in terms of anti tank, the only thing making the russian one better (in my opinion) is the Artillery Barrage ability.
A Panzer IV can drive by a russian At-gun and destroy it almost as fast as the T34 destroys paks.
edit: scratch that, Paks are way better vs tanks due to higher firerate than the Russian ZIS
2.) I don't get this, people seem to forget that 2 T34 cost as much as a Panther and are not nearly as strong.
The thing making it strong is that German player underestimate how fast they can hit the field (if the Russian plays right) and are often not prepared to deal with them.
3.)Conscripts are quite nice with PPsH and hit the dirt, yes, but don't forget that grens are also nice with G43 or mg42.
And MG42 are not doctrinal while PPsH and Hit the dirt are.
Additionally, it actually costs more to reinforce a conscript squad from 1 member to 6 than it costs for the Grens from 1 to 4, so "cheap" is not really true.
4) If you flank an MG make sure you get as close to it as possible and if it turns to you run through it on the opposit site.
Had no issues with flanking Maxims or MG42.
5)Some good cheaper mines won't hurt for both factions tbh. |
Watched the replay.
It's the strat at it's core at least.
The reason i would not build T1 in my strat is because you get nothing of real use from it and you waste MP on something you don't need.
He wasted 300MP and some fuel (fuel doesnt mater in my strat, you will float fuel almost all the time) for a clown car just to put guards in and it getting destroyed almost instantly. he should have gotten another inf squad instead but still nice game.
For some reason he charged his 2 T34-85 in FOW without support, would love to see what would have happened if he cared more for them.
But what we could see is that guards actually deal with FHT quite well.
