I am curious to see how they put it all together. I hope for brilliance but my expectations are much lower.

The US needs to have a LOT of artillery options. The US were true masters of artillery usage (with the one caveat being that good maps needed to be available). They had easy access to excellent guns, excellent ammunition, precalibrated "tapes" that prefigured most of the necessary equations, and often gave the artillery units a lot of autonomy to jump in on any attacks if they had the tubes and ammunition available.

The different artillery systems in the war:

The Wehrmacht could bring localized fire fairly quickly and accurately but could not mass artillery strikes and were not the fastest to react as they had to calculate accurate fire each time.

The Brits could bring down strikes faster but not quite as accurately and their organization could also manage larger concentrations when needed.

The Russians could not respond quickly at all and not so accurately but they were able to mass truly spectacular volumes given time.

The US was almost as fast to respond as the Brits, often more accurately (so long as good maps were available) than the Germans, and could do so frequently in great concentrations. "Time-On-Target" would be an order given to artillery units of strike at a given time and place given to units. Any other unit in range hearing the orders and had the spare ammunition was free to participate. And using their pre-figured tapes they knew when they had to fire so their caliber guns would arrive at the same moment as all the others.

65 tons of pure awesome sporting 24 hp/ton, 120mm IMI tank gun, the Trophy anti-missile defense system, it can carry several infantrymen into combat protected by MBT armor, or carry some wounded out of combat.

Games shouldnt cost the same amount for every person. For me coh2 its worth way more than 5-6 euros. I could easily pay 50 euros for it and think I did a bargain as I have 820 hours with it.

They don't cost the same for all.

Some paid $50, some $100, some $13, some bought dlcs some didn't, etc.

I paid $5 for vCOH, then paid some $15-20 for the next two (should have left off ToV but everyone was talking about how great the m18 was.

I paid $13 for COH2. I have not got much hours out of it though. But I will probably give US more of a chance and will probably pay full retail for it. Unless it comes out and it looks like crap.

Commanders is so coh2. We keep it doctrine in vcoh.

And on topic, it won't be relevant as sometimes you'll pick a doc as you want to build your strat around this particular doc which feat your game play on thie particular map ; other times, you'll just pick a doctrine to counter or react to your opponent strat. So it would be more complex than a win/loss perdoc ratio.

The depth of choosing doctrines and then the trees depending on strategic situations is soooo 2006.

the soviets got 4000 thousand shermans from USA. Why can't they have one of the more numeruos tanks they had actually be in game?

While there were 1300 tigers, they are present in nearly half of all doctrines.

To understand much of the German design and balance you have to remember that a huge number of the CoH buyers and players and either Nazi fanbois or Wehrmacht fanbois. They have real hardons for the kit of the WWII German army. So if you want to sell them it has to be the things they have come to expect, like Tigers everywhere that never have the problems of the real thing.

That will explain why there are Elephants (only about 60 ever made) and non-doctrinal ostwinds (only 40 were ever made).

Another item in vCOH was the FG-42 (the Fals compact light machine gun). Only some 7,000 were ever built. That is a teeny tiny production by light weapon standards, and it is because the weapon was full of problems when used in the field. But I bet it reappears in COH2, and working as they wished it did and not as it actually did.

By contrast, the US made over 200,000 BARs (A2 model) and gave tens of thousands of A1 models (100,000 made) to Great Britain and other allies as aid in WW2.

Compare that with the opposite often being true of Allied kit. The Sherman was a superbly BUILT tank. And many of the flaws we think were endemic to them were fixed by the time the Shermans were doing battle in France and after. It had high up-time, easy maintenance, and often could be returned to the battlefield easily even after being knocked out. (This latter created its own problems because the crew was often incapacitated, or dead, and a new one would be put together from untrained reinforcements arriving from the US. Untrained troops will not perform well and that will reflect on the statistics of the equipment.)
