Here is a HMG42 vs Maxim i had the other day after patch, i win the encounter but what i want to point out is during my encounter Maxim was able to turn towards my HMG42 and able to fully ping down my HMG42 at end of encounter before they need to retreat i think it is demonstration of how bad the HMG42 became after patch
i am the german player with 10% HMG suppression increase bulletin
the Maxim player have the 5% HMG suppression increase bulletin
ps. hmm youtube embed don't work ohwell, guess you guys have to click the link
ps. off the topic i notice if a infantry is being pinged down by HMG and even if the HMG left but still being under fire by other infantry, they are still being pinged and will not recover from it until they are not under fire. is that true or a bug?
Several things happened here. Your mg42 was not in cover. The maxim ran into a crater and thus received yellow cover in all directions. Your mg42 pinned it around the 24 second mark but then had to reload. The models of your mg42 were all behind your mg42 and thus let combat status drop from the maxim; which let it get very fast suppression recovery during the mg42 reload.
Maxim was in cover while suppressed, firing at an mg42 in open cover. It then suppressed your mg42, however it got pinned again eventually.
This is not a good demonstration of mg42s lack of pinning.
Since there's a lack of videos showing an mg42 doing its job, I present to you this:
Probably simulates firing 37mm high explosive from that close of a range while using an open top vehicle might shower the crew with their own fragments ;o
cool down between fires, not the total cool down, not sure about kayusha but it's 80S most of the time, but panzerwerfer is near 40S cool down bettween volley for sure
don't forget they won't get blocked by buildings and such though, don't forget Panzerwerfer 132damage=instant kill to infantry models, don't forget Panzerwerfer has greater durability (armor) than the katyusha, don't forget Panzerwerfer area density and scatter is much better than the katyusha, don't forget panzerwerfer has a cool down only 40S while katyusha has 80S cool down, don't forget you can get Panther which is the most cost effetive and most durable non-doctrinal AT tank, don't forget you can get Brummbär as well.
I do think swap katyusha and Panzerwerfer stats for a week, then you'll continue the whine about how the new kayusha can instant kill infantry, AT, support weapon but your new panzerwerfer can't
Seriously dude? And if you're going to spout stats ,please make them accurate at least. 60s on Katyusha, 48s on panzerwerfer. Scatter values on both are the same.
Katyusha fires 16 rockets for 80 damage a rocket, 1280 damage.
Panzerwerfer fires 10 rockets for 128 damage a rocket, 1280 damage.
Katyusha wins by 30 range (120 vs 150).
Both have 50 penetration, 25 distance and 10 angle scatter.
Personally the panzerwerfer is more effective for the alpha strike potential, which makes up for 30 range for me. Precision strike is definitely better than counter battery however.
There's also the points of katyusha being easier to kill, one burst from a 20mn scout car pops one while a t70 is a bigger investment and takes 3 shots to kill.
They are both pretty awful firing at max range into fog of war.
Whenever you tell me to combine it with AT guns or SU85s it just makes it seem like an overpriced KV-8
So you equate acceptable or even good at capability with almost none at all? Again do you not realize it's 170 pen and 240 damage along with 325 armor?
I don't need to pay 240 fuel for something that can one shot infantry but gets killed by most tanks. I have infantry for killing infantry.
Some people make arguments that the Panther has no AI, but what soviet infantry unit can actually do more than damage the engine?
So, the IS-2 costs 240 fuel, and for that 240 fuel I can lose to one of the most common types of tanks in the lategame, BUT I can destroy a couple squads of infantry and not get my engine damaged as a trade-off..
Seems fair. Yep.
Yeah i'll just get a KV-8 for more than half the price..
They are even in the same doctrine!
Yeah, but really, I would always much rather get a Panther. They can scare infantry away well, and their MG turret does decent AI.
But with the Panther, I can also 1v1 any soviet tank and win. ISU-152, IS-2, SU-85..
I can 1v1 all that shit and win, and in the case that there are support and massed AT weapons waiting for my Panther? Well I'll just use my amazing mobility to get out. I can even use rocket blitzkrieg mode with a damaged engine! So balanced!
Why do you insist on making it seem that the is-2 is helpless against tanks? It want 1v1 a tiger and will evenly trade vs a panther, however it is great with support. It still has 170 pen, 240 damage, 325 armor and 960 hp. It dies not specialise in fighting tanks but can do so competently while annihilating all infantry support. Combine is-2 with zis or su85 and you have a very effective force....
Man its just cringeworthy to read a discussion like this. So many people pouring oil on the fire, claiming they want "better balance" whereas in fact they only play one faction exclusively.
German players want the Panther buffed, Soviet players say it's fine. There's just so little people here that actually truly want better balance instead of just crying for buffs of their beloved army.
I play both faction equally. Well no, I have more german games because Wooof can't play soviet.
I do believe the panther is fine. Panzerjaeger continually downplays the fact that the panther has, well, tanking ability in having 960 hp and 270; along with excellent mobility (.4 top speed and acceleration slower than a t34/76). At 50 range it had the same range as a stug and 10 less than an su-85.
The panther beats every soviet tank bar the is-2, and even then it seriously harms the is-2 and is an effective deterrent. It has enough hp and armor to not have to tuck tail and run from at guns at first sight. It also has the hp, armor, range and damage to stand off against su-85 and the mobility to retreat when needed.
I believe they specifically do not want conscripts buffed for late game, excepting ppsh and htd from doctrine. The point is to force the soviet to use a doctrinal infantry. Lmg is still a bit too good and comes early; a slight dps reduction and/or tier 1 requirement would be good. Volks couldn't get mp40s without a tier upgrade either.
