Oh, and don't forget the new non-doctrinal artillery: the Roo Deployment System from the Lend-Lease Act
That's like.... Space Marines Deep Striking. Scary... |
We also need to understand that not everybody plays games to be competitive.
MOBA Games have an advantage over strategy games: The gameplay is stupidly simple. The map(s) don't change AT ALL. The complex part is the individual micro skills of each player, coupled with the diverse kinds of heroes and their ability to form a cohesive strategy to achieve the incredibly simple gameplay loop.
IMHO, MOBA games also have a dedicated community that have developed lots of quick and dirty tutorials to the gameplay, whereas in CoH, only GR really did so, and in a limited manner (you had to read an entire article, that sometimes included videos).

Well technically, roman Senate positions.... wait, I see what you did there! |
Best of luck in your new family! Lets see what comes from it! |

Be a normal person and get some girls with your name tattooed to their asses....

I'm happy for Relic, and happy for Sega. If anything, Sega is rarely trying to squeeze money out of its customers, and if it does, its for an already great core game.
Company of Heroes is a great game all by itself, but it's only kept alive by its community. Lynx has arguably been the best CM, considering the challenges he faced, and the amount of open communication he kept with us.
If Sega wants to get an amazingly good start with its new customers, getting Lynx on board is a surefire way to do so. |
FXAA has been around for a while now, and many games have it.
Sharpness DOES fix what I hate most in anti-aliased games: stuff starts to look blurry (because that is precisely what it is supposed to do).
Adding contrast and other graphical tweaks can also be considered cheating by some people. Why? It allows you to see the game, in a way that was unintended by the developers. When SC2 began, there were rumors that playing with the settings on lower settings allowed you to "pop out" stealthed units. Sure, you still can't attack them directly, but its an edge many consider unfair.

I'm unsure about Sega.
People like to point out the Total War Series, and don't get me wrong, they are great! (I've got them all, except for the original shogun), but they are great because of Creative Assembly.
We DON'T know what kind of changes a new publisher could push into the developer, so its still a gamble. IMHO, Double Fine would be the healthiest buyer, but we all know they don't have the purchasing power.
What will happen to the Homeworld IP, btw? If EA got their hands on that, they'd probably make it a facebook game ffs. |
Everybody has their preferences, and the engines work betetr with X or Y, but most of the times, you should ensure you surpass the recommended settings, and you'll be fine.
It also depend son what the rig is for. If you will only play CoH2, then you are good to go! But take into account that RTS games are less system intensive than other types, such as FPS games. Certain times, for instance, you'll need to get GOOD processors for very niche games (Arma 2 needs a good processor, or it will bottleneck the GPU), but again: if you are an RTS gamer you are good |
PLease someone tell me they've got this too...
Up until recently, the official COH2 webpage in facebook was in english, the grass was green and the women pretty. Now, it has been localized to my native language (Spanish, due to my mexican style), and about 95% of the content from the weekly war reports and other media has been removed as a result.
This post is not meant as a rant, its simply done to see if there are other regions where this has happened: The internet is composed mainly of english websites and information. Regional segregation is a TERRIBLE thing, it didn't work very well with SC2, it messes up wikipedia searches and google ones ,too!
Update: Turns out you can switch it in settings, but I'm betting plenty of people won't figure it out (as simple as it is). Bah...
