Thread: GET INVOLVED NEED HELP -- Gaming and escapism. GET INVOLVED8 Oct 2013, 12:51 PM Ladies(?) and gentlemen. I would like your views on the following subject please. I am trying to begin writing a dissertation based on escapism and gaming. More specifically, I want to concentrate on why we as gamers are demanding more complex games (in terms of narrative, graphics, game mechanics, immersion etc etc)or not as the case may be. I also want to put this against a backdrop of why gamers want to escape (are you or aren't you?) and what games offer them that other mediums, such as let's say film, does not. So if you could please answer these questions in your replies I would be grateful. 1. What is your age? 2. What is your sex? 3. What is your nationality? 4. How much time daily do you spend 'Gaming' 5. What platform do you use the most and why? 6. What types of games do you tend to play the most? (select 3 genres) 7. What qualities do you look for in these games (question 3)? 8. Is 'gaming' an obstacle or an asset to your everyday life, why? 9. Has gaming taught you any valuable skills or lessons that you have been applicable to your everyday life or not? if so, please expand 10. For you, does gaming hold any advantages over other forms of entertainment such as books, film, theatre etc, or not? if so why? 11. Have you ever experienced any negativity as a result of being a 'gamer' or not? if so, why do you think this is? I understand that people will be chipping in here with their views (at least I hope they do) so if you are simply providing your views on any of the questions or the topic as a whole could you please make referencing easier for me and clearly label the start of your post with 'DISCUSSION' in bold. Thread: Does anyone use the demo charge?3 Oct 2013, 14:02 PM Jump back to quoted post3 Oct 2013, 13:36 PMundostrescuatro if i want to down a building 3 molotovs do the job 100% of the time and cost less. funny because demo charges dont down buildings. but molotovs do. using them on ice, is a 1 time situation wich requires a lot of work (luring). or atention (guessing). they only seem to be good on open fields. like some big player controled mine. but as its name suggest is not a good demolition charge. true. but there are certain places even on large pieces of ice that you can pretty much bet that the enemy is going to come across. Pripyat winter for example, the ice just couth of the watchtower in the centre. Great place for a demo. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Does anyone use the demo charge?3 Oct 2013, 11:10 AM I LOVE using them. They are quite a big part of my Soviet strats. that and mines. IMO I would rather use the 90 munitions on demos than on any of the artillery call-ins. Any half decent player will dodge a call-in most of the time anyway. I always go back to the old strats on GR about anticipating where the enemy is going to come from and placing mines/demos in appropriate places. The added fact of them being unseen is a bonus. There is nothing better than giving up territory surrounding a VP only for you do absolutely destroy a squad of Pgrens as they are huddled, capping a point. Placing them on Ice is the same. You can take out heavy tanks instantly, and sometimes the radius can drown multiple squads outright. Taking bunkers out is another mint ability. There's just something really fulfilling about being able to sneak into enemy territory, place a demo and disrupt your opponent as they start to control the engagement I would personally like to see a bulletin (possibly the mine one - that also extends to Demo building times) In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: Osttruppen Merge Ability?30 Sep 2013, 11:25 AM This thread makes me nostalgic... Gone, But not forgotten. Osttruppen shouldn't have merge. If I had my way they'd would cap at 1/2 speed of everything else and have no outward combat ability other than constructing defenses and re-crewing weapons (if only to offset the Soviet advantage in this part of the game). They shouldn't be factored into offensive scenarios at all IMO (unless stealing/recrewing support weapons in order to take part counts) In: COH2 Balance
