Short "Hit the Dirt" ability
For 20 muni, all Maxim crew members will hit the dirt, taking 20% less damage, incoming acc and suppression for 6 seconds.
Would be useful when flanked or if player needs to stay under mortar fire a few more seconds. |

Becouse apart from a single gimmick (pack howitzer that is a gimmick in multiple ways in terms of design) all factions have a set number of models per every weapon team they use - both bought and recrewed. That is consistent. For example as soviets I know that if I steal MG-42 it will be 6 men, while as ost, I know that if I steal maxim its going to be 4 men. Introducing 4 men maxim would break that entirely.
"break" is a strong word. It would just be a change.
The change would be to improve gameplay. Choosing to not make a change because "that's how it was planned at the start" is nonsense.
OKW was designed as fuel/muni deprived faction. That was changed to improve gameplay.
Nothing is set in stone, especially not irrelevant things like squad weapon model numbers. Don't fear the change, fear the imbalance. |
And 4 men weapon team is against basic design of the faction...
Why? Because squads can only have 6 men?
But they have 4-man partisans, 2-man sniper, 4-man engineer
So it's not like god in heaven said "ONLY 6 MEN SOVIET SQUADS!"

You do realize that a USF Player with the infantry company that calls in a Priest can use the same map hacking ability if there is a UKF player on the field with the Valentine, right?
In fact, everybody on that team can see it, so that's not an excuse to keep the Sexton a shitty fucking unit.
1. by improving the Sexton, you guarantee maphack + great arty
2. If US player goes for Priest and UKF for Sexton, they will then have 2 great arty pieces + maphacks. |
We planning on doing something like this for the patch immediately after WBP. First we want to make sure that the existing payload (bugfixes and balance changes) make it through in one piece. Then we can start experimenting with some hold-fire/prioritisation changes we have been hatching.
The usefulness of AT guns being able to engage all targets become clear when you are fighting vs sim city (Brits/OKW). You don't always have vision on the target, while you also have to move your AT to dodge artillery.
Just wanted to say the patch looks really nice. Considering the limited scope, I think you guys have done a lot to improve the game so thanks for all your efforts. Looking forward to playing it when it goes live! |
Well I want to say a few things, I figured some of you would try to derail this thread, but I didn't think it would be pretty much everyone.
When everyone disagrees with you, that's the point to concede you may be wrong.
In a game currently dominated by allied light armour, I'd say the Raketen needs all the help it can get.

Light artillery barrage, lol. Incendiary barrage, good but hardly in the same league.

Compare Ostheer and OKW offmaps to Brit offmaps. Brits' are a hundred times better.
Compare allied indirect fire to Axis indirect fire.
