Playing double Ostheer is fine, you have a great flexibility to adapt your strategy depending on your enemy strategy.
I recommend you to play each ostheer player: 4 T1 units (3grens + mg is fine) maybe a mortar (if the map have many houses). After that, 1 of you have to go T2 for fast Scout car and Pak, the other guy can rush T3 for ostwind if the enemy have a strong infantry presence. If your fuel is a problem you both can go for T2. Panzer4 is another good choice if you want to hold infantry and medium tanks.
I don't recommend to make more than 2 tier3 tanks, because they become weak in late game. Tiger is a must that you or your mate should make, T4 is not always needed if you both have heavy tank commanders, Panther atm is underperforming its cost.
About strategy, I find the best strategy to stay toguether with your mate and after each enemy attack that you repel successfully, you have to expand your territory with your 3 grens. It's like, waiting for the enemy and after the battle, try to recapture.
Edit: Don't forget to upgrade your grens with LMG42. IMO Ostheer grens is the best unit ingame, good AI, rifle nades with long range, and faust. |
I personally like this tank, you can skip captain (90 fuel) and Jackson (125 fuel) = 215 fuel and you can get 3 M10 for 240 fuel.
They are bad for attacking but if you use it defensively with AT gun support, they can become a real thread for enemy armor. And with vet they have access to High penetration bullets.
IMO they should fix the pathing of that tank, it seems really poor. |
In my oppinion, the only big issue for russians are the double sniper team in 2v2 games, specially when RUS/USA play. |
If you watch for high ranked players streams / SNF events you will find similarities from Coh1 in tactical movements & strategies.
Some units still need a rework but overall the game is getting good, p2w is less effective here but there are a few commanders that will need a rework (It should not be allowed to have good Inf, Heavy tank and arty in the same commander like Elephant or IS2/ISU commanders) |

Unit B costs 400MP
Both units are infantry. Both units are infantry only hard counters.
Unit A can be cost effectively soft countered by infantry.
Unit A has a serious range problem and is only effective at one range.
Unit B cost 10 WHOLE MORE MP but arrives sometimes way later other times slightly later.
Unit B is good at all ranges.
Unit B 9/10 times can beat Unit A and gets an upgrade that means 10 out of 10 times beats Unit A.
Unit B cannot be cost effectively countered by infantry.
I dont know who would think thats balanced.
How exactly are STs roles different? Please enlighten me because STs are AI only infantry specialists as are Obersoldaten.

Id be more than happy to see a nerf to Obersoldaten if volks were more potent/effective at fighting an american rifleman spam.
Currently... Falshims and Obersoldaten are then only thing gonna save you from 5 rifle squads + the 2 free officer squads at the 10 min marker.
