You can hit retreat as soon as you see the grenade thrown and still lose 3-4 guys. Is this because you take more damage on retreat than while HTD is active? In my experience the conscripts go from full to half health with bundled grenades. This makes forcing a retreat easier, but cost a lot of munitions to keep throwing them at every conscript squad. I agree with a lot of Inverse's points with a minor disagreement about how I tend to appreciate some of the realistic lack of information. It makes me feel like I'm fighting a semi-realistic engagement instead of just playing a game. When tanks were ambushed by tank destroyers, they often didn't know where it was coming from. When troops stepped on mines and just exploded, it took them a moment to realize what was happening. That being said, it is still foremost a game and should do its best to provide immersive feedback to the player. But sometimes the lack of feedback is immersive as well when the fog of war goes both ways. In: COH2 Gameplay

I think it would be better as an anti-suppression ability rather than some sort of super shield. Edit: And the hyperbole of "almost no damage" isn't going to help a discussion when its plain wrong. Thread: Hit the dirt!22 Apr 2013, 05:57 AM I thought mark target might negate the bonus a bit, but It doesn't seem to help that much in a 1v1 situation. (does anyone have numbers of mark target vs hit the dirt?) Using grenades seems like a waste of munitions. It will hurt them, but if they are full health its not going to kill anybody and they will just retreat and heal up. The only decent way to counter hit the dirt I've found is using a mortar, but even then its lucky if you hit them or not, and you can't have a mortar everywhere. Is there something I'm missing or is there a balance issue here? Should it cost munitions? Should flamers do extra damage to them? In: COH2 Balance

There is a point there. It might be more due to the fact that the bundled grenades seem weak for how much they cost to throw. I've found another problem that you can recrew a weapon team with guards or shock troops and reinforce it to 6 of those men. AT gun with 6 shock troops is pretty OP. I might reconsider my stance on this for the sake of the german sniper. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: WTH with TM balance and optimization?22 Apr 2013, 05:28 AM Is your sound quality on low? I think there is something messed up with the higher sound qualities. If I set mine to medium it takes forever to load and I get kicked. There is also a problem alt+tabbing during the game so don't do that either. Calm down and play some 1v1 until they fix it. As in; a vehicle takes 100% of the damage it normally takes, and when a infantry squad jumps into it, it still takes as much damage while the squad inside also takes some damage. That should be the con for putting infantry in a vehicle IMO. I'm pretty sure it already works this way with small arms fire. It might be nice to see it happen with tank shells/explosives. I have however noticed when the thing blows up my troops are rarely severely injured. The problem with roos was that the infantry accuracy would be counted as standing still if they were in a vehicle that was moving. I don't know if they've fixed that but I sure hope they do. If they had 4 man squads they would need a larger arc, then it might as well be an mg42. I like the way it is. It makes it feel different and get used different. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Game interface and lobby.20 Apr 2013, 06:43 AM In reference to public chat. There are always different groups congregating, but the public chat brings them all together and gives people a place to talk shit. In: Lobby
