Give the E8 white phosphorus shells in addition to its lackluster main gun shells.
Give it an M3 half track (something that should be a stock unit for USF anyway).
Halftrack sounds like it might synergies well with Riflemen, but it’s also in several other doctrines, so that would make it too similar to Mechanized Company.
I disagree with you about the Easy Eight. I think the Easy Eight is fine, it’s very powerful against other tanks and is good against infantry with its coaxial and bow mounted MGs plus the .50 cal.
Pound for pound, the Easy Eight may be the best allied medium tank overall. |
Hey guys!
I’m sitting at home enjoying the casts that AE uploaded of the 1v1 Elite Showdown and was wondering what you guys like to do while doing the same.
I like to enjoy enjoy a frosty adult beverage ( I don’t like to call them “alcoholic beverages” because I know what it feels like to be called an alcoholic and I wouldn’t want my favorite type of beverage to feel that way. ) while practicing my marksmanship by dry firing at the TV in my den with one of my WWII rifles from my collection. (My wife can hardly stand the snapping noise! Lol)
Right now it’s Brits vs OKW, Noggano vs Isildur, so I have my No. 4 Mk 1 Lee-Enfield out, popping off at VolksGrenadiers, just trying to do my best for King and Country.
Beverage of choice is a Sam Adams summer ale.
So what’s your cast viewing tradition?
Cheers!

Didn’t the real ausf J variant get rid of the power traverse in the turret? I think that could make for an interesting variation if the J was superior in armor, gun and MG performance, but it’s turret turned significantly slower. That would make the H the flanker/maneuver warfare unit and the J is the slugger with better stats but can be more easily flanked. The combat blitz ability could also increase the turret rotation so Veteran Js could spend munitions to mitigate its slow turret weakness. |
The way Rangers and Paratroopers have the passive ability of “Bazooka experts” in the corner of their abilities slot with the tooltip about getting extra penetration and extra damage with bazookas when you hover over it gave me an idea about different types of camouflage getting the same type of tool tip.
You could make the passive ability named the same thing based on what it does in order to make camouflage abilities easier to understand to the player.
“Ambush Camouflage” - this unit will automatically cloak while stationary in cover and gains (whatever types of buffs) when attacking out of cloak. Unit will decloak when it moves.
“Cautious movement” - this unit may cloak while moving slowly over any terrain.
“Sniper training” - this unit automatically cloaks while in cover and may move from cover to cover while remaining cloaked. This unit will become visible after it is not in cover for x amount of time.
Ignore my exact phrasing for the abilities, but I think those should be the three basic types of cloak. Ambushers get better stats when attacking from cloak, but get revealed as soon as they move. Cautious movement allows the unit to move very slowly but is cloaked over any terrain. Sniper training allows the unit to move as normal speed at all times and cloaked automatically when in cover like snipers currently do. |
Can UKF Commandos sprint while cloaked? If so does it require the activation of a special ability that is doctrinal that is only in some of the commanders that have commandos? I didn’t opt to buy all the new commanders, so I can’t just fire up the game and check.
I mention commandos because I don’t want this to be a “Axis OP! Nerf Axis, buff Allies!” type of discussion. I’m more interested in the concept of cloaked sprinting and cloaked movement in general.
|
What does everyone think of passively cloaked unit’s also being able to sprint while invisible?
I just watched a game where cloaked stormtroopers were sprinting forwards while invisible over great distances.
This isn’t about stormtroopers specifically, this is lit if a discussion in the different types of cloaking in the game and how movement affects it.
Personally I think no unit should be able to be cloaked while moving, except snipers, who should retain their ability as is, while other stealth type units should get combat bonuses when attacking out of stealth. The whole sprinting whole invisible thing belongs in a science fiction game like Halo, not in a WWII game like CoH 2.
What do you all think? |
I think we will see the power of the Fusiliers this weekend since Spec Ops and Overwatch/Scavenge are likely to be banned heavily in the tournament.
Hell yeah!
I’m stoked to see some top level players show off what is actually OP vs what is complained about in the forums. |
EDIT: he's talking about "focus fire: false".
It doesn't increase or share damage, it means any squad member can be hit by the burst, which leads to more health damage and fewer entity kills. The BAR has that setting, which probably leads to more low-health retreats for German squads.
Most close range automatics have that setting (except Thompson), and most long-range automatics do not.
Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up.
The focus fire as you say makes more sense as described, but really sounds like it would be best if all automatic weapons either had it or didn’t have it. Uniformity and consistency for things like this would help with both player understanding and balance. |
That choice is heavily undermined by the current state of affairs: the Pak requires 200 MP 20 FU of sidetech and the Panzergrenadiers don't.
Exactly. The question isn’t “which one is better”, it’s “which one is better for the cost?”
PaK40 is what? 320mp plus tech cost of 200mp and 20 Fuel so that’s 520 and 20 fuel vs the 320 cost for a squad of PanzerGrenadiers plus the 100 munitions.
So in some instances it’s more efficient to just get PGrens with Panzershrecks and other times it’s better to go the traditional route and get a PaK40. |
So, a retreating squad of obers walks into a BAR...
You do know, how BAR damage dispertion works? If don't, then it looks like this - If it hits, some of damage is transfered to other models.
That is just plain silly.
“Frank got shot and now I’m bleeding. What the hell?”
Not saying that you’re wrong, in fact I’m sure you are correct, but it’s just a strange game mechanic. Does anyone know why this was done and what kind weapons have this attribute? |
