It costs 245 fuel and 720 MP, is basically useless against infantry, the schwere panzer upgrade is required to call it in ( and it needs to be alive ) , it seems to miss a lot of shots, it is slow, it requires spotting, and it can get into trouble when 2 allied TDs engage it frontally ( or when one T 34 rams it ... )
So what is the point of this ... thing ? Why not just get 2 JP 4 instead ? They seem to be better than the Jagdtiger in almost every way while being of far lower risk. Even when the enemy has a ISU 152 it is better to just get 2 JP4s to counter the ISU , as ISU doctrines come with Il2 bombing runs ...
If it could be called in even when the schwere HQ is destroyed then I would at least see a point in it, but at the moment it is just one big heavy lie. People tell you it is good to counter allied Tanks / TDs , but once you get it it is just a big waste of fuel.

I don't play this version of EZ mode very often because it's so boringly simple. But it is funny to see the Axis circle jerk with people complaining that the one faction with every crutch in the book is some how underpowered lol.

Still gets chosen by top 100 players so maybe it is not that "meh" The WC51 is the best part of the doctrine though because for a faction with no early game advantages it's nice to have a T0 unit that can do certain things not possible in any other doctine No earlygame advantages ? (To all those claiming that this doctrine is bad) A bit OT but also commander and WC 51 related. The 76 mm Sherman seems to be quite potent. Even though it only costs 5 fuel more than OST Pz 4 it is able to beat one without any problems ( even against OKW Pz 4 for OST it can be a even fight). Once vetet up it can even face Panthers while being better at AI than Panther ( and ofc better at AI than Jackson ). Now remember that the WC 51 provides this doctrine with a "Mark the Target" ability and reconsider if it is really that bad in late game or if the WC 51 really needs this ability. So I know it might seem like a noob question or situation but my mate and I got beaten in 2 vs 2 even though one of the enemy team was just spamming pioneers and supportweapons. He did not get a single Tank except an T 70. He basically just got lots of Zis 3 and mortars. Killing them off with infantry was no option, as the mortars were hitting our infantry hard( also he had lots of pioneers with flamethrowers) . Charging in with a Tank was also no option due to the many Zis 3 guns. And mortars would also have been no option because they would have been outgunned. In retrospect I maybe should have went for a mortar HT, but I couldn't do , as I choose my doctrine before the Support weapon spam came apparent. I went for Panzerwerfers, as they are usually nice when it comes to dealing with support weapons spam, but this meant, that the enemy could field more tanks. I really need some help regarding this replay / strats like this in general, as I have faced strats like these a few times before ( even by rank 500 to 700 players ( 2 vs 2 ) and struggled against them Replay In: Replay Reviews |

A single WC 51 can shoot down a 60 ammo recon plane in about 30 seconds (without the player doing anything ). The 35 Ammo recon plane can even be shot down instantly by double WC 51 ( and can be shot down by a single WC 51 if used correctly / lucky and with Vet. )
Remember the WC 51 has wheels and can move. Also: Spending 50 Ammo and some Manpower ( you will lose some models when charging it ) to kill a 200 MP and 45 Ammo unit isn't exactly what I would consider a great deal In: COH2 Balance |

I can't help but feel, that this unit, which costs 200 MP ( less than a Kubel and on top of that no fuel ) is overperforming. I mean sure ... you need to pay 45 ammo to upgrade it with an MG, but you can transport troops with it (even when upgraded) , you can mark vehicles with it, you can call arty with it in and it can even repair itself ( by that I mean the crew can repair it ) and it can capture points. Just compare this to the other equivalents of the WC 51. Kubel: non doctrinal, Costs a bit more MP, can also cap points, can not transport any troops and overall sucks against infantry, let alone light vehicles. Gets slaughtered by WC 51 UC: non doctrinal, can repair itself ( for ammo ), Can transport troops when without upgrade, is decent against infantry, more MP and Ammo needed, can not cap points, more time passes till it can be upgraded OKW 221: doctrinal, can not cap points, Needs fuel, can repair itself ( for ammo ), okish against infantry, has some useful abilities ( of which one you will probably never use as it need vet 5 for it ) , can obv. not transport infantry, no ammo needed. Will get beaten by WC 51 In my opinion the WC 51s MG should deal far less damage. Especailly against light vehicles like the OKWs 221 or the 251. Even without a great MG it still has much to offer. One thing that is also worth mentioning imo is that the UC got nerfed and its upgrades stuck behind T1 because it was too good. So why doesn't the same apply to the WC 51? Why isn't it considered too good. After all it gets its Upgrade earlier than the UC ( and even earlier than the old UC) and even has more and better abilities than the UC ( flamethrower left aside ) In: COH2 Balance |
