If all infantry was insta-suppressed upon entering any part of the firing cone, I'd uninstall this game or only agree to custom games where HMGs/bunkers are banned.

OP, are you talking 1v1? In 2v2 and higher I think combined arms is great.

I've found my success to be far more likely when using combined arms and not exceeding 3 of any one infantry/team weapons unit type (not counting "stolen" team weapons).

I suppose a "balanced build" may find itself sucker punched by someone mass blobbing (or an arranged team double blobbing), but you can usually counter that if you are going combined arms.

Side question: has CoH1 or CoH2 ever had a game mechanic where a global debuff is applied to an army when it has "too many" of a unit type?

Something like -10% efficacy per squad over 2? So someone with 5 con squads would ahve -30% to all cons.

IMO the KT was fine pre patch aside from 1 shotting squads. They could've just limited explosive weapons damage count on models to say 2-3 depending on the unit. It would've prevented 1 shot wipes and many units would've still kept their lethality. Now the KT has IS2 scatter and is still countered by 1 allied TD at half its cost. If I buy a unit at 720mp and 280f it better be damn lethal. I could've had 2 OKW p4s for that price.

The only bulletins I even vaguely use are the ones that buff mainline infantry or ones that reduce muni cost by like 2-3 for mines (at least I can see the effect of these). Not that it matters, really, but for many --
getting 2% faster cooldown between shots or 3% faster rotation just seems so absolutely useless that I wonder why one would even bother. I mean, if it takes 1.3 seconds to do a full rotation on an AT gun, does it even matter if it now takes 0.04 seconds less time?

I mean, the values used for those characteristics seem to be decimal points the majority of the time (maxim suppression is like.0006 or something) so how much of an effect can 1~5% even have? Unless ofc the description is completely misleading and the bulletins add/multiply in a weird way (like each individual shot having a 1~5% chance to suppress).

I do agree about the maxim suppression one though (fixing the description or confirming that the patch didn't change it).

EDIT: Biggest use of bulletins to me so far has been seeing what my opponents plan to use, particularly those axis players who stack 3 'tiger' bulletins.

Best use I've found for it is to flank bunkers and blow them up, or to pseudo-trap buildings like others have suggested via true-sight "hiding".

Though that's like maybe three times out of the last 15 or so games.
