Miragefla and Mr. Smith back in the day gave the 7.5cm leIG 18 a "Hollow Charge" single-shot ability to the leIG 18. It wasn't effective enough as an anti-vehicle tool and was consequently cut from the balance patch.
In Widerstreit's version, however, where you can switch between HEAT and HE, is going to be very powerful. I don't see much of a reason to build a Raketewerfer if the leIG 18 gets selective fire.
120 pen is enough to pen all light vehicles, even the Valentine Mk.XI, and has at least 75% chance of penetrating stock allied medium tanks. For reference, the Puma has 120 pen mid (10-30m) and 80 pen far (30-50m). Never build Raks again; go Battlegroup into P4 rush every game, as you have leIGs that can barrage enemy infantry (especially HMGs that give OKW infantry play headaches) and ruin light vehicle play.
Additionally, if you could fire regular HE barrages in AT mode, that removes the counter-play available to the other player; engage with infantry if the leIG is in AT mode, and engage with vehicles otherwise.
I would say that the issue with Battlegruppe HQ is the fact that it has paltry answers to vehicles and tanks. However, I would say that giving the leIG an AT mode is not the solution. I would say that the solution is to make the leIG 18 the M1 Pack Howitzer of OKW; a reliable, powerful indirect fire unit.
My solution to make Battlegruppe HQ more viable is far more extreme. I would remove the Sdkfz. 251/20 IR HT and give it to Overwatch Doctrine as a 4CP (same timing as Recon flights) call-in vehicle in place of the 8CP 10.5cm leFH 18. Next, I would add a 250MP Panzerjager squad that can camouflage in cover and carries 3 weapon-team Kar98ks and a Panzershrek.
That's an interesting idea. I like it much better than an at gun that also doubles as a mortar lmao.
EDIT: it'd be nice if the raketenwerfer wasn't such an all-around frutrating unit though. |
Nah just another commander that's gonna be added to the pile of needing a revamp because most people will consider it as weak and just keep playing with Infantry, Armor and Mech companies.
I really do believe we need less gimmicks in these new commanders and more solid abilities and units that expand your options, similar to the UKF one because I deem that one as the best example to use.
+1
Although I do think the brit commander is a little heavy on call-in units but that's a discussion for another thread. |
STG obers with camo would be hilariously OP. They already ignore cover, have 2 different kinds of very good grenades, and can booby trap points. They would hardcounter pretty much all infantry at that point in any way, shape, or form. |
I just wish the main gun could actually hit infantry more than once every 5 shots and got some reload bonuses. |
Stormtrooper are really good, but you can't use them like rangers. They're ambush units and are great at wiping things on retreat too. L2P with them and you'll see the difference. |
Here lies urban assault, killed by lack of actual feedback. Jackson got much more attention instead.
RIP, you will be missed. April 2019-April 2019 |
No kidding. but we're ignoring the fact the jackson has near zero downsides except "it has low armor", which can actually deflect p4 rounds. Lets be real though, jacksons, double scotts, cav rifles in WC51, they're all fine because #USFNEVEROP
Wait what's the percent chance jackson actualy bounces a P4?
Oh yeah for sure, I agree with what you're saying (noting the sarcasm) but I was just pointing out that pen wasn't the reason KT was strong lol. |
KT didn't always penetrate its target either pre nerf, yet was considered an "I win" button. This logic has too many holes.
Jackson didn't wipe full 5 man squads in 1 shot, and didn't have over 1000 health and actual armor. That's why KT was considered "I win" button, not because of its pen (not like you need pen to kill like 90% of allied tanks anyway lol). |
I agree with everything except allowing other squads to holster sweepers. As others said, sturms get to be the exception because they're actually meant for combat to a degree and they're accordingly expensive as the tradeoff. Not like rear echelons losing a carbine when they upgrade sweepers will change anything anyway since they already lose to every unit in the game lol. |
Imo from a design point of view:
Elite infatry (ranger), Heavy tank (Sherman) and doctrinal Rocket artillery in one commander should not be available.
Remember how OKW has all that nondoc?
@OP I don't really know that another sherman variant is really necessary. If you want something that actually has health there's the dozer and EZ8 (to a degree) and there's always the pershing too. |
