Honestly a coh game with coh mechanics in star wars could be incredibly fun IMO. There's a lot of lore and a lot of different hardware to choose from, none of which is beholden to reality (so it can function however you want it to from a game mechanics standpoint). There's plenty of diverse military forces to choose from too. Imagine how clones vs CIS or rebels vs empire would translate into a coh style game. There's a lot of potential there IMO. In: Lobby

Tone down OKW's starting resources, give Volks snares from the start. This whole "OKW wipes the floor with any infantry build but a single ultralight snaps its spine" design is a proven failure. The OKW/SOV early game in particular is abominable for both sides. I'd rather see the cost of volks increased if they get fausts. Seems like they always have a ton of infantry very fast in the early game considering they don't have to build any tech buildings and have cheap infantry. Why they aren't like 280 is beyond me, since they can definitely compete with vanilla riflemen and have a way better vet1. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: What commanders are good for ost 1v1 right now?10 May 2019, 21:10 PM I've been enjoying playing with german infantry doctrine but there's so many other doctrines that are kinda samey that honestly I don't even know where to start with. The only other doctrine I really like in 1v1 is jaeger infantry but seeing as playing ost right now is kind of already a handicap (lul) I want to just mess around with other stuff for fun too. Cuz I would like that as another option. But we already have pgrens that are nondoctrinal, cost less, and have the option of 2 pschrecks and bundled nades. Old stormtroopers were just weaker pgrens wit tactical assault. New stormtroopers are actually useful but giving them stgs wouldn't fit their intended role and would probably be OP since they have good camo and tactical assault now (stgs have a lot more range than mp40s so it'd be easier to wipe retreating units; there's a reason commando stens and storm mp40s do like 0 damage beyond point blank range). They're designed as a close range ambush unit. If you don't want to use that, don't make stormtroopers. Make grens or pgrens with ambush camo. Ost is the only faction that gets doctrinal ambush camo for like all their infantry so you should take advantage of it if that's your concern. In: COH2 Gameplay

That's an OP LMG squad asking to lose it's basic crew to replace it with whatever squad you want. It's a stronger LMG34 and absurdly strong at close range. Yeah that'd actually be strong as heck lol. I would not like to see that in live. One thing I think all the allied mgs need is to be able to suppress grouped (blobbed) infantry faster. There's no reason that given the fact they already suppress pretty slow (.50 excluded, but with the .50 if you don't suppress on the first/second burst it can be annoying because it has quite a long time between bursts) they should at least be able to suppress the squads around them at pretty nearly the exact same speed they suppress the squad they're focused on. The 42 and even 34 already do that most of the time just because they have that much suppression anyway. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Should demos be better vs static positions and weapons?6 May 2019, 04:13 AM The not being able to plant on points thing is idiotic because caches and bunkers are pretty much the only viable targets for demos now and the former is always on points. It's already useless against infantry anyway, so it's not like the restriction is doing anything anymore, and demos are still super overpriced for killing caches. They should probably just be like 45 or just get replaced with satchels if they aren't going to be useful against infantry. In: Lobby

Especially with cav rifles being a thing too. That way the thing stays useful and isn't cheesy. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: CoH3 will be MODERN WARFARE ??????6 May 2019, 03:47 AM Jump back to quoted post29 Apr 2019, 22:11 PMSander93 I don't think a modern setting fits CoH - too many high tech high range weapon systems (like ATGMs) and focus on merging combat roles like the Main Battle Tank or stuffing all sorts of heavy weapons on recon/infantry fighting vehicles (like Bradley or BMP). Or all infantry having standardized assault rifle + LMG loadouts. Something early Cold War (the end of the 'mechanical' warfare era) would be pretty interesting though. Basically 1950s-1960s with Pattons and T-54s and with light tanks like the M41 still in service could basically be a reskinned CoH/CoH2. The same mechanics and core but in a new and unique setting. That's my concern with a modern setting, especially with infantry combat. How would one make any tactical decisions on how to engage other infantry units when they both have almost exclusively assault rifles and maybe SAWs? It'd also be harder to come up with a lot of varied infantry types since a lot of them use pretty much the same weapons now lol. In: Lobby
