well, maybe it's 9 popcap because there's a unit worth 9 popcap coming with it? just guessin'. |
Couldn't read all of the above posts, so sorry if some points have already been covered extensively. My take on the issue:
Previously, SOV was very bland since the only viable build was T1 Penals into T70. This was because 1. Conscripts were only mediocre and hard to replace in the late game and 2. The Maxim in T2 lacks a lot of firepower. So the best bet was to try to survive the vehicle game until you get a T70. To make Conscripts more viable, balance team introduced a late game upgrade - Mobilized Reserves. That was basically the only major SOV specific change (apart from IS2, which was part of an overall heavy overhaul).
I think we should look at IS2 and Conscript problem as two different things. The easiest solution would be to tone down the late game buff of mobilized reserves. Conscripts have not become better during early game, but are the main reason why SOV is hard to bleed in the late game. Just up the MP cost a little bit or reduce the DPS boost in cover so that they are less efficient.
this is probably the most sensible post so far in this thread. Subtle changes to these two units will be everything needed to bring sov back in line |
Putting further thoughts. Instead of callin range nerf! We can beautify it as a AT refresh.
you may call it whatever as you want, but the underlying truth remains that this will solve none of the current issues while potentally creating new ones - and no amount of campaigning from your side will ever get your idea implemented simply because of that. now you can of course go on and spam every other thread in the balance section with the n-th iteration of your perceived 'axis up - allies op' tirades, but if you spent half the time actually trying to learn how to play the game (especially by switching to the red faction every now and then) you'd see most of your complaints and suggested solutions have no foundation at all. |
very interesting find and kudos for going through all the detective work identifying the probable cause. if this holds true it should definitly make it on the list of known bugs, i'd gladly see the ability get some adjustment to justify its current pricetag. |
i agree with mazianni and voted no, since bundling allows the individual units to come at a lower pricetag than their actual performance would warrant, while it discourages spamming at the same time. plus, the halftracks (not sure about the soviet one, but definitly if it can be upgraded with the quad) are pretty decent units by themselves and no longer just worthless carriers. well, and i'm sure the 'free' pack howie doesn't need any advertisement anyways as it will prove useful pretty much in any game. |
I'm not sure about the current balance of PTRS cons, but ehat the commander does is that it adds to your options. Like Ppsh upgrade, like the big T34 tank or the OKW P4 variant for OST.
There are also commander slots that give you a straight up better unit, but adding a decent alternativ is in my opinion thr best design
this pretty much... also noone forces you to upgrade all your cons w/ ptrs just because you can. 1 or 2 squads usually are enough to hold of lights and at least put some dents into any medium trying to charge your at positions. all in all a solid upgrade for cons, albeit the rest of the commander could use some tweaks to make it more competitive imho. |
interesting suggestion for sure, but i think a moderate increase in fuel cost (15-20%) would be all that is needed to bring heavies back in line again. |
I put a teller down but those yankees just grabbed the gun and left
i remember that neat little trick actually works in the original coh - at least for at guns, which would set of PE teller mines planted right below the moment they get recrewed. fireworks and flying body parts guaranteed... |
raising the fuel cost, as suggested before, seems the most logical choice for me, too. this would also neatly avoid the dilemma of a cp-increase delaying heavies too much in team games as compared to 1v1s. |
agreed! although A_E may not be my favourite caster, his contributions to this community are invaluable and and imho one of the reasons the game is still alive and well today. many great names have come and gone during the years, let's hope A_E is here to stay and keeps up the fantastic work (gcs3, perhaps?)! |
