Does very little damage, but it suppresses, which is what you get an MG for. Damage MGs like the Vickers don't do their job. The Vickers is good at killing models, but that's not what you want an MG for. It's like having a ZiS Gun for indirect. In: COH2 Balance

That said, I still don't think the nerfs are deserved since I do still see my pack howie get de-crewed instantly fairly often, then again I am crewing them with REs which drop like flies no matter what. Have you tried crewing them with the Support Paras? Para-crewed team weapons can reinforce from Pathfinder beacons. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Pack Howie Airdrop16 Feb 2019, 11:42 AM So the Paratrooper support drop in Recon Support got changed to drop a Pack Howie instead of an AT gun. My first thought on this is "yeah, that's pretty cool", but on further thought it seems a bit restrictive. The original ability contained two AT units: it was a cheap package LT builds could use to fight vehicles back when USF double teching was brutally expensive. I get why they removed the AT gun: an IRPF crewed self-spotting AT gun was pretty strong early support for Greyhound rushes, but now it's a bundle of two pretty unrelated units. It's hardly useless, the Pack Howie is a good unit with solid late game manpower bleed potential, but I can't help feeling like we might as well just have the Paratrooper Support Squad at this point and ditch the munitions cost on the airdrop. It's not hard to build a Pack Howitzer if you want one, and that 80 munitions cost really restricts the ability to deploy and upgrade the Support Paratroopers. In: COH2 Balance

Because their sniper rifle obeyed cover rules. Small arms have 0.5 accuracy versus cover, which means a squad in cover is about twice as durable. Green cover also halves the damage a squad takes, making a squad in green cover about four times more durable. The last patch changed that multiplier to 0.9 for the JLI's sniper rifle. Combine that with its damage coming primarily from instakill crits, and that sniper rifle almost ignores cover entirely. This means you can't coverfight them. You'll lose. You've either got to blob up to Range 10 or retreat. The rest of the unit's fine: powerful, but little cost tweaks can help with that. The crit rifle is the problem. In: COH2 Balance

The JLI change for example took a long time considering what has actually been done to the unit. I would have expected this a few weeks ago so that we could have it as close to 'balanced' as possible by now. If memory serves, Relic has to pay Valve every time they patch. It's why games on Steam have big patches far apart and games with their own launchers have much faster patch cycles. In: COH2 Balance

Instead they have the price of mainline infantry and on top of that can be spawned out of buildings + get camo + get sprint + get first strike bonus + lowest RA in the entire game at vet 5. The one thing that is for sure is that a slight cost increase and a longer cool down won´t change much of anything. Which means we have to play against Jäger Lights almost every game. And in the games that I played in today Jäger Lights were just used like before the "hotfix" so it doesn´t seem like people just stop using the unit now that it got "BALANCED" lol I don't think it would be. It serves the same function as a flamer: it ignores cover, flushing units out of it. Flamers are balanced by being short range usually on small squishy squads without strong RA like Engineers. Flamers on mainline infantry (Riflemen and Penal Troops) were removed from the game because they removed cover as counterplay. The JLI sniper rifle in its current state is like a 35 range flamer without the AoE or DoT, and it's on a unit with very respectable combat stats. The mentality of 'any unit's fine as long as you price it right' doesn't lead to a balanced or fun game. Things that screw with the basic flow of the game need counterplay built in too.
