I dont encounter too much with comet in team games only rare, mostly IS/bren and firefly so I really dont now latest situation with comet and only faction didnt play with because did'nt bought ..If I understand what your try to say correctly, Nerfing the Cannon and buffing mgs is againts AI can be really proper way to balance the heavies I think, but lowering armor is not the good idea. Allied Ranged high dmg and penetration TD's will give hard time to tiger. If we bufff the speed MAaaaybe I can accept that is proper..ish I dunno
Tank destroyers will rip through heavy generalists armour or not: that's what tank destroyers are for.
Rebalancing heavies around the Panther and Comet would make them substantially cheaper, which in turn would mean fewer tank destroyers per heavy tank. From a certain perspective, it'd be a buff vs TDs. |
Yes In my opinion we can try something like what I proposed earlier but u are not wrong..
Honestly, I'd do something like cut the Tiger's armour down to 280, its health down to 960, give its main gun anti-infantry performance like the Comet, and cut it to 200 FU. Maybe even raise the cap from one on the field to two.
The Panther and the Comet are the model heavies in my opinion. |
Yes you are right about that, we can componsate that with high resources requirement or high cp.
maybe its makes them some kind of "hero" units with less right click with more utilies and more baby sitting.
Giving rear armor penalty with dmg engine and stuff also makes dangerous for losing tank to enemy hands (with decrew content) I dont know just brain storming.
I think, if the AoE nerfs work out, they'll be fine. The best designed heavy in the game right now is the Comet.
Trying to make these in game-defining hero units is how they went wrong: they work best as slow, tough, 200ish FU tanks that are balanced well against medium armour. |
Heavy tanks are already too powerful against medium armour for their cost. If we made them as you suggest, they'd need a hefty price increase too. |
???
76 Sherman ---> More penetration, fast rate of fire with vet
EZ-8 ---> "premium medium" with 720 HP, good armour and penetration
Dozer-Sherman---> trades mobility for HP and armour
The 76mm, E8 and Dozer Attachment Sherman all fall into the premium medium range: they beat P4s and lose to Panthers.
The Easy Eight and 76mm sacrifice their HE shells for this, and therefore coexist nicely with the stock Sherman.
The Dozer Attachment does not. It's like one of the crazy suggestions you get from the faction fanboys, except it actually got into the game. |
Yes centuar rear armor needs to be 120 so it can at least bounce shot off p4 at max range
This is in theme of ukf hardy units.
What is your obsession with pointless low probability bounces?
It's not a meaningful durability increase, it's just added frustration for the attacker. |
Like P4 overshadows ostwind? Cromwell now just has identical scatter to P4 and almost exact same MG damage (just turret Mg's provide better DPS due to faster rotation)
The Ostwind vs Panzer IV has a 20 FU resource gap to Cromwell vs Centaur's 10.
The Ostwind has no speed disadvantage over the Panzer IV.
The Ostwind has a cheap 90 FU tank destroyer to support it.
It's much easier for those two units to coexist without treading on each other's toes than the Centaur and Cromwell. |
I would remove the smoke cannisters.
Remove the whole thing. It's got the benefits of all the other doctrinal Shermans in one package. It shouldn't exist. |
The medium tank changes look great! I'm not keen on the complex Ostheer buff, but it did need something. |
This came up in the shoutbox, and should probably be addressed.
The 1.3 patch came with a clever change for medium tanks: reduced target size, making them all a bit more survivable. Specialist vehicles like the Firefly and the Sherman Bulldozer did not receive this buff: they've got extra range/health/armour already.
But this is also a buff to an upgrade that should never have existed in the first place: the Bulldozer Attachment for the basic Sherman.
For those who don't know, you spend a little fuel and lose a little mobility. In return, the basic 76mm Sherman gets premium medium's armour and can take an extra 160 damage AT hit, which lets it handily beat enemy mediums.
The existence of this thing undermines every other premium medium in the USF lineup. It's got all the durability and utility of the 106 Sherman Bulldozer, but keeps its AT capability. It beats Panzer IVs as handily as a 76mm or Easy Eight, but unlike those two gets to keep its HE rounds. If you go Urban Assault, it gets the Comet's White Phosphorus too.
This is like looking at OKW Mechanized and deciding it needs a 70 FU vehicle with the Luchs' AI, the Puma's AT, and the ability to frontally wipe ATGs. It's an awful design.
At a bare minimum, teching the dozer upgrade should revert the Sherman's target size to 23. There's no justification for this thing having a better target size than the 105 when it gets to steal its armour and health.
Better still, remove this thing from the game entirely. Mechanized really doesn't need it, and Urban Assault can have the thematically appropriate and sadly overused Sherman 105. |
