While one tiger tank shell will murder and full squad of British troops. RIDICULOUS! I have saved games, that I only save because of this reason alone. To show people how AWFUL the game was designed. A game that comes to mind, one game this comet tank didn't move. Just sat there shooting at other German tanks, this Comet tank missed ALL six shots before being killed, SIX times! SIX! One, miss. Two miss. Three miss. Four miss. Five miss. Six miss.!!! Then blew up by two PANZER 4's. Yes PAZER 4's!!! Two Cromwell's could NEVER, NEVER take on ONE tiger tank! You unlock the building first, with the building unlock you get Grenades (Platoon) and Weapon Rack (Company), as well as a couple of units, and the Officer is the cheaper option + builds faster to unlock the last couple of units. Thread: Difficulties with MG42 spam.9 Aug 2019, 07:45 AM Jump back to quoted post9 Aug 2019, 03:43 AMClarity If you are struggling against MG's, I highly recommend going for a Pak Howitzer since it can dole out a large amount of damage and with a little luck got some nasty wipes against Ostheer's smaller squad sizes. Although it's tempting to go for an early mortar when you see an MG-42, I feel it takes to long for the mortar smoke to drop usually resulting in you having to retreat whatever squads were suppressed. Go for multiple rifle squads and look to spread out but keep squads within range to be able to help each other if needed (mainly for flanking MG's). Rifles should win most 1 on 1 fights with Ostheer infantry so the key is to not blob into an MG-42 and be forced to mass retreat. Plus a Pak Howitzer can be an effective way to deal with an Ostheer Mortar if your opponent opts for one. How do you get to that point though if they've drawn a line across the map to hold the main points? The fuel income I get is a trickle so unlocking T2 takes quite some time, which is where they build a large lead. In: US Forces Strategies
Thread: Difficulties with MG42 spam.9 Aug 2019, 00:50 AM I've asked about this on the discord and had some advice, but feel it's worth asking here too. How do you overcome MG42 spam at the start? It feels as though the micro, munitions and map control tax that these units place on me is far beyond almost any other strategy, and despite my initial vitriolic reaction to the strategy I figure I must be doing something wrong. So, how do you get around it? I've tried smoking them and rushing, I've tried flanking, mortars (with smoke and with actual barrages), I've even tried fighting defensively and getting a Stuart out early. Everything seems to just lead to a massive free lead for the Ostheer player. In: US Forces Strategies
Thread: BIG 1v1 tournament coming later this year?!7 Aug 2019, 19:56 PM From looking at those stats, what major harm would there be in expanding map pools to cover Arnhem, Vilshanka, Caen and Nexus? They seem the least swingy maps, and if there's a particular issue or two it could be ironed out or players develop strategies to mitigate, no? In: Lobby

Just look at SC2 maps and notice how similar they all are and how symmetrical they all are, now if we had maps like THAT in CoH2 sure... let's go crazy but that isn't the case. CoH maps take a huge amount of work to balance and justify due to the ALlied vs Axis dynamic, garrison mechanics, and the complex resources/capping system. SC2 maps are already Protoss/Zerg/Terran favoured, just like our maps can be Axis/Allied favoured. That's not because of being non-symmetrical, but because of features. Even in that link you've provided, some maps have really clear advantages to a faction, like Cyber Forest being 2% Protoss favoured versus Zerg, and 11% favoured versus Terran. Remember, SC2 has to consider base placements, which involves considering natural first/second/third bases for each faction, consider the airspace near those base locations (too much room and Zergs go crazy with Mutalisks, too little and you can't scout), as well as things like gold minerals and engagement areas on the map, and they have to consider the strengths/weaknesses of three factions in that front across the AvA, AvB, AvC situations. I'd actually love to see stats on how often our own automatch maps are won by each faction, to see how swingy we are in comparison to other RTS maps. In: Lobby

The goalkeeper still has to account for it. A goalkeeper who only plays in overcast, calm settings would be looked at like a loon. A golf pro has to know many courses, or be willing to learn. And each course has 18 holes. Nobody is suggesting we just throw a brand new map at competitors, I'm suggesting a larger pool used for ace games. As for esports: SC2 has 9 maps. BW has 10 maps. WC3 has 10 maps. To move away from RTS: CoD: WW2 has 6 maps. CoD: Bo4 has 6 maps. We've got four, from what I've seen currently. It's not unreasonable to have a pool of ten, of which four are primary and six are deployed as ace-game deciders. Or eight total with 4/4. In: Lobby
