You would think that David Beckham had just left West That Direction, live on Pop factor, after announcing that he was gay judging by the girly tears being shed. So, in sympathy with our Axis preferring brethren it is time for a new challenge. Despite the woeful interest in my previous challenge threads I am ever optimistic. The goal is not to win per se but merely to farm rage quits from the Axis by use of the Advanced emplacements Commander. As it appears to suck arse this should be challenging for good players and just good fun for anyone who uses it anyway. Usual rules apply, post any in game chat that suggests a rage quit, extra points for someone questioning your sexuality or posting OP threads whinging about your style of play. In: UKF Strategies

Yes Vet 4 and 5 probably are ridiculously OP but doubt anyone will ever see them in 1v1. Potentially overpowered if you like but not in itself overpowering. In: COH2 Balance

One thing about the Vickers is that it isn't much use on it's own. Stick it in a garrison or better yet a trench and get it to Vet 1 ( which happens quite fast) where it's range increases but it's sight range does not. It can fire considerably further than it can see which means you are wasting a lot of it's potential as an area denial weapon. Unfortunately IS at vet 1 only get +10 and the pyro Tommies seem to lose their extra +10 when garrisoned, which I think is a bug.. Hence the only way to get the full range from the Vickers is to put a sniper in the house with it, and even then it is only a Vet 2 sniper that uses it's full potential. I've never yet lost a garrison with a sniper and a Vickers to infantry... Other options are trenching / in cover an IS or Sapper squad about 20m from the garrison. Use a healing Tommy squad and you can heal the Vickers up even if something does get close. Best option though is a UC with suppressive fire spammed. Seems to work now and suppresses Volks / Ostruppen in 2 bursts. If you are brave then drive it straight into a shreck blob once the Vickers has got a burst off. If you aren't then the Vickers K has greater range than the Bren, which has the same range as a Shreck. If the blob is moving you are reasonably safe, it if stops then you're gonna eat a shreck. Bit later in the game the AEC comes into it's own, serious DPS with it's MG at close range and excellent sight range. Blobs can't fire shrecks when they are suppressed so with a Vickers in support it's time to have some fun. Also the actual range of the Vet 1 Vickers seems to fluctuate, apparently depending upon which window of the garrison it is stationed at. Sometimes adding an extra squad or shifting arc increases it's range... Think it's a bit bugged. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Emplacement meta...23 Mar 2016, 22:08 PM I keep on seeing whinges, whines, moans, pissings, complaints, wailings, strops, gripes, laments and rages about emplacements. I barely use the buggers. Maybe a late game mortar pit as a honey trap or to remove some pesky high vet squads but I probably average 0.2 emplacements per game. So what is this supposed meta? Granted the vast majority of the ragerati appear to be both shit and 4v4 only players. UC is OP it took out my command panther types. Do emplacements really work for anyone in 1v1? Considering trying them again due to problems securing fuel against OKW, if they want it early game it is very difficult to stop them, and 222s against Ost. The problem I find isn't so much the actual strength of the emplacements, it is the strength of the counters which continue to scale during the game. Build a bofors to give myself some respite on a VP or fuel and you end up facing 2 - 3 mortars or ISGs. With the late game being dominated by Vet I'm much happier facing small arms AI and PIVs than high explosives as they are more predictable. It's a micro tax if you like, I know that going up against Vet X Volks with Vet X IS I can leave them to it and look elsewhere for a while. With ISGs etc though ( which are ridiculously hard to take out from their frontal arc) a lucky hit sees your valuable squad in serious difficulties quite quickly. Is it worth a defensive bofors on the cutoff etc? At least ISGs and mortars half way up the field are vulnerable that way. So, do they work for you in 1v1 and if so what is this meta? Thread: How to beat super-aggressive Ostheer23 Mar 2016, 19:21 PM I thought the MG on the 222 was off centre ( 15 degrees rings a bell), hence shredded things at close range but constantly missed at medium? Could be wrong and would like to know for sure. The main problem against 222s is the ease with which they can baserape you. UCs against the base defence guns ( particularly OKW) are a joke by comparison. Seem to recall seeing that the 25pdrs in base do have an unused AT role but basically Brits badly need a T1 snare or counter as 222s plus sniper can make the early game nigh on impossible without clairvoyance. It's a nice bit of kit and the +20 sight range is a bit strong, particularly as it applies to itself! Haven't tested it but I don't think the UKF's command vehicle buffs apply to itself, and the nerfs are extreme. Frankly though when I face this commander it is the 15 muni (!) infiltration grenades which hurt most. You expect to face nasty Axis armour. Haven't seen too many Vet 3s so the vet requirements must be extreme. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: How to beat super-aggressive Ostheer23 Mar 2016, 08:02 AM S-mines are a real problem early game, particularly on some maps where your cutoff is also on your retreat path. Angoville south for instance, I've had S-mines placed on the northern cutoff which can't be ignored as the strat point, VP and munitions further north can't be contested without retreating squads through them. Had some success with a UC to counter MG42s and especially the Ostheer sniper early game, trouble is it is a pure sacrifice as they don't stand a chance against 222s. Can run them through minefields but a) you won't completely clear it b) UC takes heavy damage from S-mines c) UCs with heavy damage blow up the moment someone looks as them in the wrong way. Saying that all of Ostheer's early units bar maybe Grens are very vulnerable to a UC. I've given up on AECs against Ostheer unless I pick tactical support to get recovery engineers and therefore some of my resources back ( which can also clear the minefields of course). 444 or 666 wins easily against an AEC. In fact they win easily against anything you can build until Cromwells. In: UKF Strategies
