This is a scenario for the much maligned Flammpanzer Hetzer.
Or for a more rounded Doc, go with the IR-StG44s and use the infiltration grenades to clear maxims from oblique angles and in particular in buildings. |
woah woah.
you said "map hack". so i replied with "snobbery".
i think an obvious solution would be next game, place s mine there? or a bunker.
Would work as Ostheer but not as OKW. I don't usually have that doctrine in my arsenal. But what about suggestions for mid game? |
I just played against another double campy Brit 2v2. I did all that was suggested, ie. keep Leigs next to Battlegroup (instead of Panzer HQ). This was better than before, but still the Bofors were being nailed by LeIGs and were not going down in health at all. (It wasn't braced, but had a yellow spinning symbol above). I had two LeIG's and brought in a JagdPanzer. A blob of piats appeared from behind the Bofor and killed the JagdPanzer before it could do much. Meanwhile the Bofors were taking absolutely ages to die - I mean minutes of constant Barraging. By the time I killed one, I went in to throw grenades at the mortar pit and there were two more bofors.
Luckily we won this one through attrition, but it could have gone either way again based on how devastating the combination of emplacements is.
I asked one of them afterwards why he played with such an annoying campy style, he answered "cos it usually works". They were crappy players otherwise, so it didn't seem fitting that their lack of skill in infantry combat should have been rewarded with so many previous victories with this playing style.
I understand there is an overall balance to the factions now, but sometimes you can just get stuck in a rut against certain playstyles on certain maps through no fault of your own.
Anyway, I really learned a good technique from this thread so I thank you all, no matter how aggressive and snobbish some of you have been. |
You thought you were "winning" cause the other guy was amasing troops on that area. It's pretty simple: he went for a base rush. You either kill the troops or you answer with the same method.
Well, the other Soviet player on my side was very unskilled player so it felt particularly injust that they won through this technique. It wasn't that he was involved in the operation and his teammate only turned to that operation halfway through. It started with just a couple of Assault guns and mgs. I thought my teammate could handle it at that point. But it quickly escalated.
The thing is, I asked here for some ideas of what to do in this situation. You all answered with snobbery that I got outplayed. Fair enough. I accept that I was beaten, but I was asking how YOU would counter it... so far nobody has offered any ideas. So I take it you would have also been outplayed.
This subforum is obviously full of a bunch of Nelson Muntz's (Haaa haaaa). Try being a little more supportive. |
I had troops on the field, but could not produce more, and in fighting nearer my original hq than my battlegroup hq my retreat was to my base one. Troops were picked off.
It's all very well for you to say I got outplayed, but it was actually happening in the fog of war on my teammates side, so there really is no outplaying as such, just covert base rushing as someone else said. I had no idea it was happening as we were occupied elsewhere.
You don't think its a bit game-breaking to be able to camp at the spawn point and destroy incoming troops and vehicles? There should be the option of alternate spawns in that situation. |
Wtf do you mean you "printed off two stukas but both died on entry to the map".
I mean I moved my mouse cursor to the Mechanized tab and I pressed the left button on the image of the stuka.
The first one died as it was entering the field, since that is where they had their AT guns and mgs camped.
Second one, I moved the rally point, hoping it would enter from a different point on the map. But instead it came in just the same and was instakilled, along with all other infantry coming onto the field. |
not "map hack". it sounds like good covert operation.
I know the area you are talking about. I assume you had the left spawn?
seems A-OK to me except that same thign cannot be done on the other side of the map.
Yeah, was for sure a covert operation and yes, it was on the left spawn. I'd also applaud it, though there was no counter. So seemed a little unsportsmanlike, particularly since we were traditionally thrashing them until that point.

Just played a 2v2 on Semoskiy winter both as OKW against two Soviets. The Soviets were losing the entire game, but one of them had snuck in next to my teammates base and was building up forces right next to the entry point for all squads and vehicles. They just murdered everything that came on the map and there was no way to stop it. I couldn't get near cos they had about 7 mgs and about 5 AT guns plus halftracks. I printed off two stukas but both died on entry to the map. I had no artillery in my doctrine. What the heck are you supposed to do when someone has map hacked like that, except surrender? |
I made a word for word copy of the other thread calling for volks to be nerfed and swapped out OKW for USF. You know, to show how ridiculous it is to just yell out your own bias. But it obviously flew over a few of your heads... |
This is a parody thread, isn't it? If it isn't, consider checking yourself in at the nearest looney bin.
