At vet3 with ambush bonus the g43 has a 97% chance to hit retreating units at max range, still an 87% chance while retreating through cover. Compare to the actual snipers and the relatively cheap cost to leave this squad cloaked on retreat paths. Generally the first strike bonus is rather problematic since (if am not mistaken) their camo is not static as grenadiers camo is. Their ability to sprint is also problematic since as long range unit it should not be able sprint, a grenade would be better. Both these abilities are even made worse when combined with "for the futherland". (currently JLI seem to perofm far better in overwatch than in scavenger). The K98 DPS could also become flat at range bellow 10 so that QCQ units could counter them better at point blank ranges. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Tiger Ace Poll.29 Dec 2018, 17:17 PM Jump back to quoted post29 Dec 2018, 16:55 PMTiger Baron Otto Carius also started his career in an H35 if I'm not mistaken, then moved up to things like the 35/37ts, Panzer III and IV if I remember correctly and then a Tiger for the most part, and in the end he was put in command of one of the Heavy Tank Hunter battalions with the Jagdtiger. But that's in the course of the entire war. What I'm trying to say is that it's a good idea but I don't think it fits in with the Elite Troop's theme, that's all. I was just explaining where the idea comes from. The current design of Tiger ACE is bad imo, there could a number of solution for Elite troops like buying the ability to be to get extra vet levels similar to OKW (vet 4-5). In: COH2 Gameplay

With the current performance of maxims you are seeing higher levels of T1 play. No they not. Penal are simply too powerful for their time frame. They could easily become cheaper while having weapon upgrades costing munition. That would make allot better from design point of view. These units don't exist in a vacuum, they are part of a larger composition and you have to take that into account. Read more carefully my post. I did say that maxim and conscript might need some minor buffs. That might prove not to even be necessary if one nerfs VG as I suggested. Even if one simply replace the ST44 upgrade with the Mp40 that might prove enough. In: COH2 Balance

I've just always felt this is a really dumb one. Even independently of balance, it's just a silly mechanic IMO. It was one thing when it was just partisans in their old form. Now it's elite troops that upgrade to some good equipment. Well the idea comes from original falls in COH, where it made some sense. Since the setting was Normandy (where falls did fight)and having an alternative way of delivering the unit to the front line compared to para's airdrop. The mechanic does make sense for partisan and encirclement's storm troopers (even falls and JLI when they where design to counter enemy snipers) but the rest simply comes from some members of the community having a "the grass is greener..." approach. An "Ace" Tank crew is considered as such because they had spent a considerable amount of time in their vehicle, that's the reason why they got so good at it. Your idea suggests something of a crew bunny hopping from tank to tank which as far as gameplay terms goes is brilliant but makes little sense for the overall doctrine. Of course many tank aces during the war were in different vehicles but earned their titles and were known for specific vehicles, not all of them if you understand what I'm talking about here. The idea actually comes from historic facts. Michael Wittmann started his career in a stug. In: COH2 Gameplay

Nothing will help soviets more then making them pre buff UKF 2.0 just to "see" if other, painfully obviously underpowered units that literally no one uses due to how weak they are might be needing a buff. Soviets have absolutely nothing else to rely on and you want to take that away as well just to see something obvious. Soviet are currently the one of the stronger factions in the game, if that is only a result of Penal, the faction is badly design and the meta will always remain T1. PLS stop trying to become Katitof Junior, one Katitof is more than enough. I have never claimed that JLI blob are not problematic and you quoting me and your response make it seem like I have. I simply pointed out there are more effective ways to use them since the first strike bonus is very powerful on them. The majority of people posting about JLI have clearly said that JLI blobs are problematic. I even point out in the commander balance feedback thread before they even become live. There is no reason for you to keep repeating it. In: COH2 Balance

We will not know unless Penal are nerfed. As I have clearly said if and when Penal are nerfed the other option like maxim conscripts might need some buffs. (Guards and Shock troops are currently very strong also, so that might become meta) It is my opinion that both Penal and VG should be nerfed. Once that is done one can check to see what other things needs fixing. Imo that should be done using wer as bench mark since it is (or it used to be) one of the best designed factions. Since is far less the scavenger doctrine being used. Read again my post and you will see that you repeat what I have posted yet you manage to disagree to something I have not actually written. It didn't worked on cons, it won't work on penals for exact same reason. And that reason is: Units with weapon upgrades scale better then units without it. That is simply false. Conscript veterancy is not broken because their base stat noway near Penals. When Obers costed 400 and come with lmgs they where broken once the reached vet 5 although they did not have a weapon upgrade and that is why their veterancy bonuses where nerfed. Having or not having a weapon upgrade is no very relevant to veterancy bonuses and scaling. In fact, their vet is like that SPECIFICALLY so they are able to scale without weapon upgrade and we still have axis equivalent who got equally strong vet, is cheaper out of the gate and gets weapon upgrade while also being 6 man squad and having much more utility. No their vet bonuses where not specifically designed like that, their veterancy bonuses where designed when come with flamer and their SVT had allot less accuracy, once they got buffe their vet bonuses become simply too high. The circle argument that they are expensive so they need to be strong is simply flawed. Lower price remove SVT and give them a weapon upgrade and they will be far better balanced. In: COH2 Balance
