I like Obers the way they are. They are the one OKW unit where the vet 4 and 5 really makes a giant difference towards allied infantry when they become HMG and and infantry murderers in one piece. Have to play them carefully at first , they are not meat shields like Volks until they start paying off. I agree with the reinforce time being a bit sluggish, though. |
I struggle against maxim spam with okw as well. On the Road to Kharkov game I think you tech up too quickly, needed one more volk at least before tech. Also the med truck is placed right in front of two garrisons where it can be attacked from. I try to use the Kuebel more aggressively very early on to scout and distract until you can somewhat stabilize an area. Also you'll see the maxim and know that there will be more. Try to wire off entrances to garrisons on maps like Faymonville, Kharkov... But again, easier said than done, you're right that OKW is in a bad spot against MG spam. |
It has the same range as the 120mm and mortar pits and a single leig is not able to deal with russian maxim spam, especially when they are garrisoned and need very little micro on maps like Faymonville to be effective. 2 of them eat up 18 Pop cap, so there is some risk involved with that build as well. If there is some other way for OKW to deal with entrenched stuff I'm all ear (no flamers, no mortars).

Nano, it sounds like you are suggesting a panzer 2 should be effective against a stuart, is that right?
The patch will solve this as well as the Stuart can no longer just stun and kill the luchs instantly. |
The OKW t0 MGs have no business existing, they are bad at everything.
For single player against USF, I still think they are somewhat ok given price and pop cap, if the patch (mortar/penals....) holds it's ground. Not to say it is not a trash MG. |
Rifelemen and Volks trade allright since last patch Volks have their STG upgrade and are cheaper, flame granade is pretty ok. What upsets balance currently is the OP mortar followed by the OP stuart, unless we're considering double LMG rifles, which are ridiculous.
Looks like all of those concerns will be addressed in the next patch.
I think it'll be well possible to survive early game after that and the non-doctrinal late game options for OKW are still imo better than USF. |

this "hero" is a no-name player...jove is a veteran ..look to the ladders.
Think he needed a second isg early to deal with the bofors asap and eventually the rest of the pit. Once the advanced assembly is in place this doctrine becomes very difficult to deal with. |
Long setup time, long barrage time, slow movement speed and short range turn it into easy prey for ambushes and counter artillery. Learn to counter.
Queue up a reverse order after barrage or recrew it, have the next barrage ready straight away. |

IMO Cromwell, Comet, T34/85 and most of all MC4 Sherman need to be looked at as they are too cost efficient currently compared to any of the Axis counterparts. |
