in my opinion the pakhowi is fine, the shorter range is not a problem. you have more aoe and really effectiv vet abilities
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M116_howitzer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.5_cm_leichtes_Infanteriegesch%C3%BCtz_18
ISG:
Muzzle velocity 210 m/s (690 ft/s)
Maximum firing range 3,550 m (3,880 yd)
Pack Howitzer:
Muzzle velocity 381 m/s (1,250 ft/s)
Effective firing range 9,600 yards (8,778 meters)
Why does the Pack Howitzer fire its shell slower and at a handicapped range far shorter than the LEIG?

I disagree with OP. Rifles by themselves are already pretty strong, having to retreat to equip is not that a nuissance. I usually use retreated maimed squads to upgrade first, those extra-clicks are not what make me lose the game. I can use the weapons on RE or pathfinders, that is awesome.
Arguments can be made for every POV, but, in the end, it's a design choice, and you can think it's good or bad, but I'm glad that Relic made one. I'm really worried about homogeneization, that sometimes the community seems so hard to want. OKW, for example, suffered a lot because of this, vet5 meaning not so much difference on many units than vet3 on allied units.
This whole design philosophy of being asymmetrical at any cost is ridiculous and subtracts from what the game could be. I feel like Relic makes half their design decisions to be deliberately contrarian and the other half is them winging it as they go. |
My face when people think bazookas are better than shrecks.
This thread lol.
BUT YOU GET TWO!!!!!
It's laughable really. Axis will fight against any quality of life change for Allies no matter what it is. |
I dunno why people like you are using dual equipping as an argument lol. You realize that your units have a higher chance to drop their weapons when they dual equip? Not the mention 1 panzershreck > 2 bazookas or 1 mg34 is as good if not better than 2 bars. A gren squad can upgrade lmgs for 60 munis. Rifles need 120 munitions just for the bars to be effective. 1 bar boosts the dps of rifles by a very minimal amount that it's almost not even worth it.
The only good thing about the weapons rack is that it's a universal upgrade so that any infantry can grab it... except the only unit worth putting it on is rifles. RE's don't scale well with their vet, Paras already have lmgs and thompsons. Both Paras and Rangers have x4 thompsons for 90 munis. You seriously gonna give them bars or bazookas?
Basically you're an idiot if you equip bars or zooks on anything except rifles or re's. And if you put zooks on rifles you've just gg'ed yourself because they won't do anything against grens with lmgs or obers. It wouldn't be hard just giving RE's a zook upgrade and Rifles a bar/lmg upgrade. So don't exaggerate it like you'd need to put additional upgrades for every single infantry.
Im back to post but this basically sums it up. USF is balanced around double weapon slots such as BARS and Bazookas. Axis units tend to be more balanced towards single weapon upgrades like LMG34, Panzershrek, LMG42. Its comparing apples to oranges.
People are seriously arguing that you should have to retreat all the way back to base, just because you can equip two weapons. What a kindergarden level grade arguement. |
I like the weapon racks. Having your soldiers suddenly pull out LMGs and Bazookas in the middle of a gunfight is silly.
Then apply that logic to every faction. |
Upgrades are ok, its a tradeoff - you can upgrade any squad but you have to come back to base. Still much better than wehr or soviets who have to run back home on retreat and soviets also to heal. Also how do you imagine paras having 4 upgrades while UI allows maximum of 3 choices?
That's a different problem with those two factions that should be addressed as well. Lacking a forward retreat cripples those factions. Also, Paratroopers would still have only two weapon slots, use your noggin, dude. |
Nothing wrong with weapon racks, stop being a scrub.
Yes there is, quit being obtuse or else.
|
And goodbye to any house play from the Axis considering they'll get nuked out by molotovs and frags and GG Ostheer when dealing with USF as they'll be grenaded from the start and then rushed by any of the officer light vehicles without delay.
Don't change things that aren't broken.
It is broken, because Axis doesn't make the same sacrifice.
Soviet Maxim or British Vickers in a house unsupported vs OKW Volksgrenadier is a death sentence for the MG. Now try that vs a Brit, American, or Soviet that hasn't spent the fuel or manpower to do so.
Support your weapon teams, because Allies have to. You shouldnt be able to rush a building and afk while the MG42 does all the work for you.

But without weapon racks how will I deck out my rear echelons and pathfinders with bars?
Or have my soon to be triple bar rangers of doom?
Racks aren't just for the rifles.
How hard is it to understand that even rear echelons would be allowed access to the upgrade just as Grenadiers have access to upgrade the LMG42?
Why is it that hard for people to grasp? Just allow all USF infantry to upgrade Bazookas, BARs, or other doctrinal weapons. |
Would like to incorporate a portable weapons rack, at least, in the form of a vehicle or a structure engineers can put down.
People are still introducing ideas that expand on the terrible idea that you are forced to retrieve weapons from your base or some useless supply truck instead of just upgrading them in the field, after you research the tech, like every other faction. These suggestions are unnecessary.
