And one more thing is, although volksgren were not "elite" so to speak, they were not "peasants with guns" either. This is particularly true for units with "unemployed" soldiers in the Luftwaffe or Kreigsmarine being dumped into the volksgren groups. The real peasants with gun, untrained desperate German unit is Volksturm, which might as well be a partisan/ militia type thing. Why volksgrenadiers are so worthless in-game continues to baffle me. But meh, lets get back on topic for this thread, which is reworking OKW In: COH2 Gameplay

They make good AT because they have so many models, their lategame AI sucking is perfectly fine with me. No, don't give them MP44s... Volks, as the name suggests are meant to be relatively inexperienced troops, why should they get the best armament? Really, I think the flak against Volks is misplaced - volks weren't ever designed to win an infantry fight. Thats what Obers, Fusileers and Falls are there for (except those units aren't really winning infantry fights, and as I have said before, thats the shortcoming OKW is facing). Giving Volks MP44s and AT nades will turn them into better versions of Conscripts and I don't think this is a good idea, esp considering you do have non-doc elite AI infantry. Lost the game in the replay to large amount of rifleman. Constant harassment on fuel point and MP bleed delayed my teching significantly so Obers came too late to help. Don't know if Medic HQ was the right choice for it, but the flak halftrack (20mm one) is far too vulnerable to USF zooka which he did get REs to carry. The rest of the rifleman seems to be M1919 or BAR? In: Replay Reviews

If he is using so many shrecks, rifle with double BAR, ranger and Thompson with Bar, Paratrooper with Thompson and BAR will demolish them. No amount of incendiary grenade will help if you rush straight in. As long as you keep Shermans out of range, Shermans with HE can also do some nasty wipes here and there. The large quantity of Shrecks mean unupgraded Ober, or lack of vehicles (Either all ammo spent, or convert fuel to ammo to equip everything). In: US Forces Strategies

Picking up a shreck from another dead volks. It is quite nasty since you now have a 5 man, dual shreck anti tank 5 star machine. Keeping 1 near lolkatenwerfer is an awesome way to punish Allied tanks if they are silly I laugh when an Allied Panzergrenadier dual shreck dies with both shreck on the ground, because I get pick up shreck, then research combat package for maximum shreck - Oh the wonders of 4v4 In: COH2 Balance
