The tulip rockets and to a lesser extent the Firefly itself aren't worth the cost imo. With the tulip rockets you are basically paying for a costly upgrade to earn the right to spend even more resources on an overpriced ability that may or may not hit the target. Sure it's neat when your Firefly takes half a Tiger's healthpool in 3 seconds but there is way more reliable AT and better ways to spend your fuel and munis as Brits imo.
I really wanted to love the Firefly because it looks awesome and it's one of the more iconic tanks in the game, but I've lost more than 1 game because I built the Firefly as opposed to saving for Comet/Churchill or relying on an earlier cromwell/centaur with 6lb support. |

Mr Strummingbird nails it, +1. |
I'm going to have to go against the tide here and advise against building snipers at all vs SU unless you see more than 1 squad of shocks. Might be tempting to build them when you see DevM with 80 kills between 2 snipers in a tourney game but chances are your micro can't keep up and your resources would be better spent elsewhere.
SU is less predictable than either USF or UKF so I'd stick with a vanilla 3-4 gren build with an mg and adjust your build from there depending on what you see. The number of grens and timing of mg would depend on the map and doctrine you're planning on using. |
Pretty sure Relic is making a point to promote light vehicle play, so I very much doubt they'd put the pak in T1 for that reason alone. All your other suggestions are based on that premise however, so I guess I'd disagree by default.
I honestly don't think drastic changes are needed for OH. Sure maybe a few tweaks in the numbers but I think they are in an ok spot. Didn't OH win 3 out of 5 games in the OCF finals? If they are disadvantaged it is by a very slim margin and I think nerfs to a few overperforming Allied units would be enough. |
I don't understand your masochistic argument. By your own account, how can the playing field be leveled, yet either one's opponent must "make a blunder", or one must play like a god and snuff out a game within the first quarter of an hour... somehow... which still as I think Symbiosis demonstrated, is not exactly a guarantee of victory: or accept agonizing, soul crushing defeat.
Every other faction, even the UKF at the moment, have some advantage, some edge, or unique facet to their design. The USF are in my opinion entirely toothless at every stage and facet of the game.
It is not really a masochistic argument though, you DO have an edge and the tools to have a stronger early game. For me personally it's a matter of enjoying the playstyle - there is no better way to win a coh2 game than to make the opponent rage quit in 7 minutes or after his desperation tiger gets hard countered by your two anticipating jacksons and a mine you layed 10 minutes prior. I play all factions but winning with USF is the most rewarding imo, specifically because of the lack of brute-force overpowering units. I'd even go as far as saying I'd rather have a M20 that can wreak havoc in the early game than tiger ace or croc or any other late game cop-out units like that. Again, this is all my personal opinion and preferences and I completely understand if people prefer playing a faction with linear tech and obvious counters like OH or late-game turtle factions like Brits or OKW. |
stuff
While I did find myself agreeing with that sentiment last patch, I think the latest patch did a decent enough job leveling the playing field with the handful of buffs and fixing of the gren bug/buff. It is at times frustrating but also very rewarding to have the pressure to gain a big advantage in the first 10-15 minutes or pretty much accept you'll lose unless he makes a blunder. You absolutely have the burden of the outplay from minute 1 and I personally enjoy the ultra aggressive race against the clock style of gameplay. |
I think USF is in an ok spot balance wise. The biggest improvement they could make is to seldom-used units and commanders to give USF some diversity imo. There is a very narrow number of viable builds/commanders. |
I really enjoyed the POP t70 spam and the Vindi JT win. |
Why are some of you guys so negative? This was one of the better, most professionally run tournaments I've ever seen a community pull off. I mean over $10k raised, custom artwork, in-game decals, custom soundtrack, fan fiction, and some AMAZING games. What more could you possibly want from a community funded tournament?
Can't believe some people take all the good for granted and nitpick on random nonsense like twitch chat trolls. I'm sure they learned a ton from the scale and format of the tourney as well, so future ones will only be better. |
Awesome tourney, it was a pleasure spending a couple weekends hanging out with you fine gentlemen and watching some great games. |
