I've read somewhere that the commissar model doesn't get healed by the Soviet base medics. Someone else would have to confirm.
I can confirm this now, saw it for myself on a stream.

According to multiple people in the shoutbox, the WC51 can't be fausted. I've read somewhere that the commissar model doesn't get healed by the Soviet base medics. Someone else would have to confirm. I can confirm this now, saw it for myself on a stream. In: Lobby |

Well that’s exactly what EffenNoobie was talking about: that units outside of the LoS do get targeted (which isn’t correct). By basing your own point on that wrong statement, you’re spreading misinformation, even if the point you’re trying to make is correct (i.e. the ability self-spots, therefore getting LoS isn’t important, therefore the ability isn’t weak). I could give a real world example of why this is bad, but I hope the point is clear. // On-topic: The ability isn’t weak at all. It’s actually extremely overpowered. The cheesiness is exactly why its effectiveness is limited in so many ways: - The commander itself doesn’t offer much besides the ability, which only comes in at 12 (!) CP. Breakthrough and break supply might aswell come at 12CP too, because their only use is to support the ability. Stormtroopers are lacklustre and camo is good, but available on better commanders. - Once your opponent knows what you’re trying to do, it becomes very hard to pull off. He only needs to build a cache to force you to make an assault on the sector. After that, he only needs the awareness to fend off said assaults. The ability cancels once the enemy reconnects the territory. - Its effectiveness greatly depends on the lay-out of the map. You’re basically putting all your eggs in a basket that relies on you to survive until late game without proper abilities, requires your opponent to be catched by surprise and is potentially a wasted commander slot on certain maps. With that said: while the commander is probably not viable in 1v1, these problems are nothing that a good 2v2 team can’t play around. You have to base your whole strategy around pushing the cut-off with your teammate and have your teammate select a commander that fills in the gaps of your strategy. Jaeger armor especially has nice synergy with close the pocket. Recon + normal stuka + break supply line is a guaranteed (albeit expensive) way of neutralizing a cached point, while you still have the elefant and spotting scopes as options. It’s just that most teams prefer something more reliable. If you can get it to work tho.. In: COH2 Gameplay |

In your unique definition it might, the fact is however: enemies that are not within line of sight in the cut-off territory won't get bombarded. I don't care if 99% of the enemies are spotted because of the LoS around enemy points, that's not what this was about. There is a difference between needing LoS for the arty to work and self-spotting. Compare:

Thread: Coh2 even playable with Lenovo E480?6 Nov 2018, 21:26 PM
https://www.notebookcheck.net/ThinkPad-E480-i5-8250U-RX-550-Laptop-Review.280524.0.html "Update BIOS 1.14: Massively reduced GPU performance" "Update BIOS 1.14: Lenovo wants to improve the temperature development with BIOS 1.14. We checked that and repeated our stress test. We also repeated some benchmarks to see if there are any effects in terms of performance. We updated the sections GPU Performance as well as Gaming Performance." "Update BIOS 1.14: Lenovo reduced the GPU performance dramatically to improve the temperatures. We added the new 3DMark 11 GPU score in the table below and also listed the iGPU SKU of the E480 for comparison. The discrete Radeon is actually just ahead of the integrated Intel GPU." "Update BIOS 1.14: The performance reduction in the synthetic benchmarks is translated to the real-world gaming tests as well. While the E480 originally managed smooth 73.5 FPS in Bioshock Infinite (High setting), the value is now just 21.9 FPS after the update. This is once again just slightly ahead of the iGPU." "Update BIOS 1.14: The fan is much quieter with the new BIOS and we never measure more than ~33 dB(A) even under load, so the laptop is comparable to the iGPU SKU." I'd say: return the laptop or find a different solution like downgrading the bios (be aware of the risks). Edit: Only just saw that this thread is more than a month old. |

... I don´t see how buffing the Ostwind is going to improve balance ... It wouldn't, but it doesn't have to be negative to balance either. It's just that some players don't like seeing only P4's because other options aren't worth it. That's not to say that there aren't underperforming units in other factions (take the M5 and SU76 for example), which could also receive a little love, but those atleast fulfill distinct roles. Meanwhile, the Ostwind is simply too weak or the P4 too strong against infantry. In: COH2 Balance |

You do need LoS, (which the ability partly provides). Go in cheatmode and place some enemy units in the FoW to see they won't get fired on if they don't get revealed.
It doesn't ramp up, see AEgion's post. In: COH2 Gameplay |

As far as my testing goes: - Once the ability is activated, it gives like 30 (?) line of sight around cut-off enemy sector points (flags). It doesn't fire on units that aren't revealed. - All frontline sectors get bombarded with light mortar fire (any enemy sector that borders your sectors). These sectors only get a white outline and no LoS bonus, while cut-off sectors get a white outline and flash from orange to red. - All cut-off enemy sectors get bombarded with arty, rockets, and stuka bombs. - Neutral territory is not affected by the ability. - If the enemy captures a new sector, it won't get bombarded. Also, all arty on affected sectors stop once the enemy reconnects them or when you neutralize them. - The ability doesn't seem to ramp up, but remains consistent. There does seem to be a certain rhythm with arty -> rockets -> stuka throughout, but it's still pretty random. - The ability doesn't seem to have a preference for infantry or tanks, but randomly decides who to arty with what. You'd have to dig in the mod tools for the real stats tho. Edit: apparently no railway arty gets fired according to AEgion, so removed that. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Buff Ostwind4 Nov 2018, 15:07 PM
The problem with the Ostwind is that its worse than a P4 (with pintle mount) in almost every aspect. I did some tests with it, the Ostwind is: - Less effective against squads in the open. - Slightly less effective against squads in yellow cover (P4 MG's weaker in this case). - Far less effective against squads in green cover (all shots hit the green cover and have lower AoE than P4, also no strong MG's for consistent damage). - About equally as effective against squads in the open while moving. - More effective at AA (but shit in comparison to a 222). - Far less effective against light vehicles (tested against T70's). These proportions don't really change with vet either. Meanwhile, the P4 can also fight against tanks and has higher survivability. The only thing the Ostwind has going for it is the lower cost, but you're shooting yourself in the foot if you get it. The Centaur, in comparison, is about double as effective (and consistent!) against infantry than a Cromwell, so UKF has a reason to get it. I think the Ostwind just needs its scatter reduced until it becomes as effective at AI as a P4 with pintle mount (which is still slightly worse than a Centaur). In: COH2 Balance |
