The concentrated barrage for 100mun from Royal Artillery doc always destroys the howitzers, especially if u went anvil. Estimated 75% of brit players already use this doctrine in 2v2-4v4 anyway, and after the Commander revamp it's gonna be 90+%
And oh well, you just have to adapt your Commander picks in CoH2. Dont insta lock Vanguard doc every match
Counterpicking has always been in the game and there is nothing wrong with getting punished for using one-sided strats and docs every game
I don't use vanguard, it was the commando doctrine, and its a big of a fallacy to assume I use the same commander, the same stats and the same playstyle every single game.
UKF almost rely on commandos against OKW, tommies can't keep up. Are you are saying I shouldnt always do the same strat but then, do the same strat by going royal arty in turn making my infantry combat suffer?
Again, the issues is that arty is overperforming, massivley infact try ignore everything about how if you have X it can be countered by it. That's irrelevant when the crocodile was OP noone said well, it has a bad gun so just chase it with tanks, its fine, they fixed it. |
I don't know, but i think that in high skill plays bofors is inferior, because:
- it is counterable by mortars, AT guns, Smoke + bundle grenades, Smoke + FHT.
- it is stationary
- it locks AEC, which i think is the main problem - u get bofors and then u get wrecked by enemy LVs everywhere else.
Or maybe i'm using bofors incorrectly...

Stationary howitzers are totally fine, but it's the mobile arty which can get really annoying on clusterfuck maps (e. g. Semosky, Trois Ponts, Port of Hamburg, Ettelbruck Station etc. etc.)
You will see Stuka, Panzerwerfer, Katyusha, Priests and (next patch) Sexton every single match there... and you cannot really avoid or destroy the mobile arty with how these maps are designed.
Stationary arty is totaly fine? How is anything that can 1 shot multiple squads fine? I've dropped commandos next to them before and planed a demo charge on them, only to have it take less than half its HP off, seems fine to me!
How is it fine that you NEED, to have a comander in your loadout to counter it, if you don't it's simply GG. I emplore you to play as UKF 3v3's and let me know how well you get on when you face OKW arty doctrine.
Stationary is far superior to mobile, theres simply no comparison, they have less HP, have to move close to fire and are slow as a tortoise, not to mention the cost factor......
You simply have to agree its far easier to place something just outside your base and fire away than it is to move something into position, fire and retreat. |
And player E can get a priest which counter both LeFH and OKW trucks.
Forgetting that it has to move into danger to fire of course, forgetting also OKW has stealth AT guns than could be anywhere....

Saying that I should just counter it with another ability is missing the point completely.
As Sander said its the wiping potential that is the main problem with it, killing it is another. The arument to use the abilities falls flat on two things, firstly its muni, secondly it's time.
Lets say you upgrade brens, you get a squad with 2 brens, its mid game where vets usually at 3*, that squad gets murdered by an arty shell, you then have to spend another 90 munitions to get those brens back to stand a chance at finghting toe to toe with against a vet squad, or do you just wait for the muni to equate to 250 ish and use your ability for them to then, just rebuild the arty...

Its batshit OP in team games to the point even taking it out can be next to impossible at times. Im rank 22 in team games as UKF (Obviously) and the only games I lose outright is when the enemy, more specifically OKW goes fortification doctrine.
The LEFH is the same for OST but OKW get a free defense with it when they place it next to the schwer. All arty needs reworking to either reduce ROF or reduce the AOE Id say the damage is OK but the accuracy even out of FOW is quite good.
Same goes for all arty BTW Preists, etc they go on about unit preservation and then create something that can wipe out multiple squads if it hits at the right place at the right time! |
There should be a mechanic that gives received accuracy penalties to squads in close proximity to each other to prevent this (like +15% RA for every squad within 10 range), but that's something for CoH3 I guess.
Ive tried to suggest this for years but I imagine relic just doesnt care about it enough to rework it so COH3 most likely as you mention |
It just promotes blobbing and gives no incentive not to a move your whole infantry. What was the intended purpose for this?
You'd think that you could counter it with say a centaur but how? They will just cloak 2 rakketens and wipe it in 2 salvos! Vickers doesn't pin fast enough to counter them and its even slower in late game with all the craters.
I'm playing a lot of 3v3's lately and its a huge issue, typically one blobs, one goes arty/stuka+Searchlight with the other command panther and its seriously dificult to counter because any static play to attack the blob gets wiped by arty and any mobile play gets countered by the blob!
It needs reworking and at least given penalties to remove the blob focus gameplay.
The hero charge from the Brit officer used to be the same but the time its usefull is really short and they thankfully nerfed the RA! |
