(Yes I know kubelwagen has an umlaut) I agree with m20 rush. Rushing m20 is great in general. I am on team hector on this (sorry dullahan) because really early grenades just mean you can smoke a kubel, and kubels are so fast that they will be backed up an suppressing as soon as you are through your own smoke. I use the m20 to keep the kubel on the field, but keep it irrelevant. This way (s)he is just creating overhead and (s)he will eventually use it stupidly to try to get some use before mid game. If you see a kubel, volley with your m20, pop out the crew, and the kubel will run or die. In early early game, the kubel is a super threat, and you always need to be prepared for it. Use riflemen in a way that they can be close enough to support each other and far enough away to not be kubeled to death. If you can hold two fuels, you can get a kubel in less than 5 minutes easy. When I see the kubelwagen I usually keep one rifle behind the lines to flank the kubel and harass cutoffs until the glorious utility vehicle arrives. This is possible because the OKW player has one less squad. |

Perhaps switch to units performing better in closer combat? G43s are very good on this map. It is useful to have mobile AI that won't fail if closed in on. Pgrens are an interesting choice, I use them sometimes on this map. I would not recommend skipping tier 1. The only situation in which you could play and not rely heavily on grens is if you go mechanized, start off with 2 grens and then build an engineer and an assgren squad, then go pgrens. I would recommend either Lightning war (probably the best right now), or close air support due to muni conversion and effective infantry support. The mechanized is good but the Stug ausf. J comes out a little late now. It is a good idea to use a tiger tank if you are going to spam grenadiers unless you go CAS. You cannot afford to waste time/resources/micro teching and repairing all the time. Here is the video, remember this is not a recent video so do not follow this to the letter, also it's in german: Keep in mind, Jesulin has great micro, so I would be more careful than he is being. I normally use M20s to lay mines and provide infantry support. It can chase squads but I prefer to use it in front of and behind infantry to act as a damage soak in early early game and support in early mid game. The best part is once the opponent finally scrambles to pull out a counter, you can drop the vehicle at base and use the crew as an AT squad and occasionally use it to lay mines. |

It is possible with USF to play perfectly and still lose if you let the game drag late. Victories over the 40 minute mark usually only happen if the OKW player has a damaged army already or they make mistakes. Force them to build early armor instead of late armor. |

The more I read and the more I play, I start to realize similarities to a certain Russian tactic. You need AT guns and mines to support a spearhead tank while a close-range elite squad hardens anti-infantry. Sounds like Shock Rifle Frontline Tactics to me. |

If you don't want to veto (and vetoing is just fine), add the mechanized doctrine to your roster and switch from building grenadiers to panzergrenadiers asap. You want to deploy a maximum of 1 assgren squad. Throughout the game, you need to think about range advantages and flanks. You can also excusively spam grenadiers if you have really good micro. I do not like the theory of giving USF an expensive-to-reinforce unit to complement their other expensive-to-reinforce units. At least paratroopers and pathfinders can work at range. Also, is the Thompson upgrade worth it? It seems a little iffy to take every battle as an elite from long range to short range. Besides its previously described game-breaking features, I don't like the Pershing. It loses to any german heavy tank, automatically forcing you to get extra AT. All of the other abilities seem somewhat usable but they all seemed like stuff relic shoved on board last minute so they could have their little Pershing patch. If you put zooks on Rangers, Poseidon will rise from the ocean and slay you with his mighty trident. |

I personally love this map as OKW, for evil, evil reasons. You can be freakishly aggressive with your medIcal battlegroup hq due to all of the hedges and walls. Pak-43s teach ISU-152s who runs the show. You can always outmaneuver British players trying to play defensively. You can even get 2 ISGs! I especially love multiplayer on this map, but you seem to be curious about the 1v1 case so I will cover that as best I can. The first thing to realize is that you only need to hold 1 vp for most of the game. I agree with werewolf because OKW wins usually end with a surrender, not a drain out (that's not to say you should never take vps if you have the opportunity ). As long as you hold on to vital resources, you can roll out your forces. In 1v1s on minsk, I usually go for defensive doctrine or Luftwaffles for the lovely little pin machines sold at ostruppen price that go by the name mg 34. I t is easy enough to use your infantry to deny the enemy machineguns access to buildings along your front line that would deny you resources while setting up your own inexpensive anti-harassment machines. If an mg does get an mg in the middle building, use a bait volks on one side to get suppressed, then use a flanking volks to launch an incendiary grenade. You also have the option to ignore their mg and come back when you have tanks. I would personally advise against getting a flak HT but that's just me. In: OKW Strategies |
