So I played the game yesterday and I must say it was better than any expectations I had, although these were very low.
Coh 2 is a different game, there is no doubt about it. There is no way you can compare it with Coh 1. It looks more like Men of War if anything. Yes it definitely lost it's own character. (Maybe even just the player colors have to do with it. Red and blue feels so much more like 'toys'.)
Coh 1 had great voice acting, arcade feel of toying with units, the factions (US and Wehr) were so perfect matched for each other.
Coh 2 is more spammy, less intelligent when it comes to the (worse) resource system, still a very bad Hud interface, buildings almost have no reason of being there, bulletins will probably cost tons of time / money.
Despite that, it didn't feel THAT bad when playing the game. There are good gameplay elements and the game feels dynamic when it comes to flanking manouvres and back and forth skirmishing. I just hope they still tweak the UI here and there (especially how you read your resources is so annoying.)
Balance wise ofc I can't say anything, just yet, but there is time to fix. And it's not terrible from my first impressions.
y summarized my opinion , i d say though that if they tweak the resource and population system a bit towards vcoh and fix that UI we ll have ourselves a game which will be possibly even better than vcoh .
Also MOW is boring seriously , i have watched casts which make go back to studying |
no, for a few reasons:
- there's no melee ability to tie up weapon teams
- there's no jump troops to tie up suppression teams
- there is indirect fire in CoH2
- there are no elaborate squad wipe set ups using different knock abilities and grenades in the retreat path
- you can be cut off from your resources in CoH2
- the teching isn't as linear
- and oh yeah it's not set in the fucking 40k universe and there isn't eighteen bloody match ups to learn.
there might be no melee ability but fire currently works much like that in coh2 its way more powerfull than in vcoh , there are mortars that are really powerfull and in a way play the role of jumptroops , indirect fire could not really be implemented in dow , in vcoh you could block retreating squads with vehicles ,snipers had 100% acc vs elite armor and brits had snipe ability that worked in the same way and i dont see why it cant be different in coh2 , cut offs are way less important , teching is a lot more linear than in vcoh , top tier units are way more important in countering their counterparts , also i think that population is fixed in dow2 as well ( havnt played in ages so am not sure ) , as for the universe being different its a bad argument since there are many sequels that are happening in a differnt time than the original + i was talking about gameplay , on matchups it seems that with bulletins and commanders who really change the mathup we are looking at a large number of matches . Furthermore , the game pace seems to be more in tune with dow2 than vcoh . TBH some of these things like variety are good but fixed pop and cutoff system are not . to clarify i like dow2 , i was just making an observation . |
Not teh ones with server side calculations. Let me give you two examples, wot, mwo. Theyre not RTS's, but, they are hack free.
As for the dev thing, I find it hard to believe that the publisher has sole control over bug fixes. Didnt they make money off sales as well. They made it, and made money off of it, but cant reinvest some of that capital in fixing it correctly?
Coho should have been server side calulations, and they should let you reconnect if you get disco'd by a drop hacker. I wish that hadnt failed I loved spamming tiger 1s, you couldnt in coh.
Also when my stats got fubar'd by the trainer user (howd he ever get that anyways, is that the publisher's fault too??), they didnt need to spend money to fix it, just change some server data relating ot my account, but, they never did.
get fucking over the fact that someone spoiled your streak or stats , its not the end of the fucking world and if relic had to deal with each such case they would never produce anonther game also when did that happened cause if it happened after 5 years of the game being active then you r lucky to playing the game at all , other than that i d recomend you hold for about 6-7 months post release and asess the situation if you deem they are giving the game the attention you want them to then buy it and yes publisher decides about patching the game , if the boys in suits say no then no it is . |
i guess we cant see it without coh2 , or is there any trick to make it work in coh's replay system ( i hope but i know the aanswer is no ) ?? |
I hope not. Those are the guys that left glaring imbalance issues, exploits, and had poor customer service from as recent as 2012, all the way back to.. gosh when did CoH come out, 2005 ish?
patching is not dependent on relic , it wqas dependent on THQ now they did not wound up bankrupt due to sound and solid decesioning , anyway , many members of the old guard are gone and the people who are at relic now are responsible for DOW2 and OF i think , the former is great if you like the sort of MOBARTS the latter however is ... oh well lets just say that it introduced us to brits ( nough said MVGame ) . |
on build orders , the engine of the game which i understand is like dow2 allows for bo to be depicted in replay , at least casted games of dow2 have an option |
About personality i think it mostly came from things that the units told you when you were commanding them , i explicitly remember the american squad leader when he was commanded to take cover in the semois graveyard saying '' follow orders or your gonna end up in this '' which was simply put awsome , but on a positive note music has been considerately improved in tune with the concept of the game that has become darker and grittier . Other than that its my faithfull conviction that gameplay should always come firts and not realism , its a game after all not a battle simulation , the immersion vcoh offered was first and foremost an outcome of its gameplay , in that aspect they have not improved it , so i think i agree with you . |
how about a feature that would allow you to go in a specific time in the video , much like you can do in ytube , anyway i think that they ll wait to see if people buy the game and then they will release improvements of the replay system in an observer package |
i dont know why but i am under the impression that coh2 resembles Dow2 more than vcoh , is anyone else thinking that ? |
I'll write step by step what should you do
