If your argument is "because it's a doctrine unit," why are there a number of other doctrine units that are practically useless for their cost? OH has crazy cost effective scout cars that mess up 70 fuel light vehicles in pairs. Just as that needs a fix so does the t34/85. Probably in the realm of 20 fuel. The thing is it doesn't outperform by every comparable standard. It wins 1v1 against other meds and is superior in the AT role. It also has worse abilities, worse vet, worse stats in some other areas. Being doctrinal is in effect a cost, because by choosing a doctrine with t34/85 you have the opportunity cost of the other doctrinal options you forego. This is especially true for sovs which are still quite reliant on doctrinal units. On the other hand you forego nothing by building core units. Of course that doesn't excuse doctrinal units being OP but you can't just dismiss it out of hand. True that many doctrinal units are useless but that doesn't mean the t34/85 must be, it just means those useless units need a buff or a rework. Sovs are in a pretty good place right now. As always there are some things that need attention but the t34/85 doesn't need to be high on the priority list. If it truly does need a nerf then 5 fu would be acceptable, 20fu is just absurd and would see it relegated to uselessness. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Guards grenade, cost to high?25 Jul 2016, 23:46 PM It could be a bit cheaper but not by much. Guards are already very versatile, it's ok if their grenade isn't great value. If that was the case it would make it harder for short-range troops to counter them and make conscripts less appealing. IMO the grenade is alright, what annoys me about guards is the clunkiness of button and the long aim time for PTRS. In: COH2 Balance

OKW cannot have an MG available at the start of the game because in combination with the starting (free) sturm pio there is an obvious imbalance if the OKW player rushes opponents cutoff. Was going to say this but you beat me to it. If OKW had t0 MG it would break most 1v1 maps. To OP: Suppression bulletin seems like a good idea but realistically it will be as useless as any other bulletin. To those arguing for a buff: I disagree. The MG34 isn't a superstar but it performs adequately in its role as a cheap suppression platform. It's not a war-winner but it is worth the (small) investment in certain situations. If there's an OKW suppression platform that is lacking it's the AA HT but that's a matter for another thread. In: COH2 Balance

This, ffs. All you people trying to argue over which medium is the most cost-efficient need to stop getting bogged down in stats and hypothetical 1v1s. Trying to distill all the aspects of a unit's stats, vet abilities, timings, synergy with other units etc. into some quantifiable measure of 'performance' is totally impossible. It can be a useful place to start but it's not enough to make any serious decisions with. Also, the idea that all similar units should be equal in cost-effectiveness is not only impossible but it's also completely unnecessary. IMO it's fine that one faction has a better-value medium tank than another, because some factions rely heavily on meds for their late game while others lean more on heavy tanks or TDs. Of course, this can become a problem when the efficiency gap is too large, or if a faction has the advantage across-the-board, but that doesn't apply to the current situation. T34/85 is fine. It still has all the same drawbacks - lackluster accuracy, crappy abilities, high micro requirement. The only thing that changed was the MG and it really wasn't by much. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: T70 moving accuracy25 Jul 2016, 00:48 AM T70 has a narrow window of opportunity - unlike alternative purchases at that point (e.g. elite infantry, Su-76) it becomes largely irrelevant in late game unless you can get it to vet 2. You have to play well with low-tier units to hold fuel and get one in time. It's a risky investment, if you hit a teller early on it's pretty much GG. Both OKW and OH have soft counters available before it arrives and hard counters a few minutes away. It needs good killing power to justify the risks of buying one. I do think it is a bit too good at wiping retreating squads on large maps, but I don't know what stats to change to fix that without nerfing its firepower in other situations. In: COH2 Balance

The flak truck is one of the only reliable counters. Perhaps it is too effective, but if it is changed to be less effective at AA then what is going to be improved to offset that? Thread: Let's Talk: ISG Performance19 Jul 2016, 05:02 AM I agree this unit is not great against anything except emplacements, but there are plenty of units far more deserving of a buff/rework than this one. Then again just because there are worse units out there doesn't mean we can't look at this one. I'm not totally on board with the range reduction, it would make it less effective against emplacements, the gap between barrages (enabling repairs by brit player) combined with brace would make it hard to kill emplacements. It's handy to be able to put in a few standard shots while waiting for the recharge. That said slight cooldown reduction on barrage could address this. Increased AoE could be a way to help the unit but I like the idea of more useful vet and possible smoke rounds more. I don't think this a straight-up bad unit more than a highly niche one in an awkward tech spot, especially now that medics require fuel and the T1 truck is thus less desirable than before. Giving it better vet/abilities could open up a greater range of uses and make it more worthwhile. In: COH2 Balance

For rifle/tommy squads they need the double upgrade to be effective, so even with vet their 3 rifles aren't that threatening to infantry. For strums/pgrens it's fine, they are easily wiped and also lose much of their AI potential when upgrading. Squads picking up dropped panzershrecks is not common, plus when it does occur it is only giving the vet boost to that one squad, so overall not a big deal. In: COH2 Gameplay

In 1v1 the ISG is rarely worthwhile against USF because their squads are always moving and it gets BTFO by the mortar. Against sovs it has use against maxim spam, but getting it early means no luchs rush or quick puma to counter t70. Against brits, as described previously. It is a valuable part of the OKW arsenal but damaging rifle infantry is not its forte. Pack howi can be devastating in the right hands but as of right now the mortar has far greater effectiveness relative to to risk and micro involved with using it. When (or if...) it gets fixed the pack howi will come back into the meta but it will still be an inconsistent wipe machine. In: COH2 Gameplay

He's kinda right though, ISG is still useful against emplacements due to its range but it is lackluster against infantry. In the mid game that manpower is usually better spend on another infantry squad. If you're back teching to med truck then it has little use in the late game. Pack howitzer is irrelevant since USF got mortar, I haven't seen a single one since then. Even before it was a clumsy RNG cannon with a crap barrage. Instead of being used in its intended role of attacking bunkers, garrisons and OKW trucks its main value was in cheese wipes on Grenadier squads. If pack howi had more range and less AOE it would better perform its role with less annoying instagibs on axis players. In: COH2 Gameplay
