Yeah your idea was in the right place. Just not how the game works for merge. When it comes to recrewing team weapons, the recrewing squad keeps all of its old traits if you didn't already know that. Besides vet bonuses that is, only the initial 3 models that re-crewed it will keep their old vet stats.
Pathfinder crew mgs have bonus vision, shock crew mgs are hard AF to dislodge, etc. |
Like vipper said, the weapons don't change (would be silly to have a shock squad with some mosins in there). Thought I'd point out the difference in engi and con mosins tho. Engies still have the old 16dmg mosins with low accuracy. Cons have the new 10 dmg ones that are much more accurate.
Only thing engy mosins are better for is fighting a kubel, since the lower accuracy doesn't apply. |
I see you happened to miss the entire thread about the GCS2 statistics in which it was ultimately agreed upon by a majority (including AE) that these stats can only give a vague indication of strengths at best but the data wasn't anywhere near being solid scientific evidence to prove anything.
No I didn't. I just think it's funny that you made a statement about balance with even less support for that claim than GCS data. If GCS tourney data is unreliable, then how the hell can you claim what you did about team games?

We've already established that it isn't: due to low sample size, biased data and because of the difference in balance between 1v1s and team games.
Are you the collective consciousness of the forum? Who the heck is "we", and if you think gcs data doesn't hint at anything, you must have a really high threshold for the amount of data/info needed to make a claim...
USF and UKF generally perform fine in the corridor maps of team games.

Lol no you really misunderstood me there. I meant "your rank that week" in a general sense. A person's weekly ranking has little to do with whether they pay any attention to the patchnotes, updates, tourneys, etc. and that's all you really need to do to "notice balance".

Tiger ace being prime example, even when it no longer was 2500hp, 320dmg 100% penetration on everything behemoth, it still was one of the most popular doctrines in low level players brackets.
True, but going from that to saying you need to be top 50-100 to notice balance is a ridiculous stretch. Im pretty sure I've never cracked the top 100 for 1v1s, and the game feels plenty different after every patch for me.
Pretty sure your rank that week doesn't determine whether or not you simply care enough about the game to pay attention....

This patch shows that "Axis" isn't overpowered. Rather OKW is good but Ost is weaker than SU and USF.
How does it show this? I don't think the tourney data means everything, but Ost is doing just fine against US so far. |

Well your mainlines don't need side-techs for grenades/snares/weapon upgrades. It's a give and take.
US teching for example might be more streamlined. But you often have to choose between MGs and AT guns so "having everything built already" is not some magical advantage. |
Yeah, of course. The discussion was more whether there exist situation when improved zook damage on standard para squad makes zooking them up a reasonable choice.

What is the situation when you would build para zooks over double RE zooks or an AT gun? I mean, 2x RE zook squad is just 20 manpower, 1 popcap and 100 munitions more. And I'm pretty sure it is worth more than a zooked para squad.
The support paras get camo if you upgrade em. They can also plant mines, so if you camo near a mine you planted you can really f*** a tank's day up.
Edit: Forgot to mention there's a 25% damage/pen bonus for an ambush attack on top of the already improved damage and pen over regular zooks. So you can REALLY f*** a tank's day up. |
