I don't know what's going on, I have gone from rank 800 wehr to 1700, I just don't know what to do. vs USF is crazy, equal number of superior squads and then they get another superior squad free for teching up and then get a powerful shock unit in the m20 straight after. I have tried every sort of opening from gren spam to double mgs and snipers and none of it seems to work, as soon as I get out a counter to one thing and start pushing back they come out with something else to put the pressure on.
Soviets are a bit better but i still struggle, even if I manage to push them back in the early game they seem to come back with callins like guards and 120mm mortars, they say they fixed the 120mm but I still get full hp gren squads wiped and even when I flank with pgrens they still get away with 1 or two men remaining because of the large squad size. guards needed a buff certainly but now they are just so cost effective with the alpha damage from ptrs meaning all it takes is one or two hits to turn an engagement in their favour. I'm really not having fun and I'm considering taking a bit of a break from the game, maybe wait and see if they are doing the alpha in waves because I'm just not having fun right now.
I can put up some replays if you guys want to have a look and critique what I'm doing wrong.
Apologies for wall of text
I think any serious Ostheer player realizes that Ostheer has serious problems. Not sure what relic is considering in their priorities.... |
Like to see Ostheer fixed before new factions. |
Which is why I said that the problem is not in the actual teching cost but how the faction fares in the early game. Too many mistakes accumulated can see the game spiral out of control and then the Panzer IV, if it comes, will come too late.
that is an assumption... |
Dear Relic,
In just performing a light analysis of the PanzerIV base man power/gas vs Sherman/T34 man power/gas, I have a better understanding why the PanzerIVs come out later on the field than a Sherman or T34 which seems very odd to me. (where PanzerIV one of the main tanks in early WW2 fighting T34s?) I thought PanzerIVs are atleast to be on the field around the same time as sherman or T34? but the costs of man power, seems a factor for late PIVs. From my understanding of how players have been using the PanzerIV is when they have good map control, but seems odd that having good map control is only way to have good timing for a PanzerIV. Just thinking of the flip side, the allies could have few tanks out, due to lower manpower costs. Why not have the Ostheer teching cost come down a bit to meet a balance timing for the PanzerIV tank? specifically for a competitive match of mediums tanks? Basically, I never use a PanzerIV cause it comes out way to late, just save for a tiger... so why even have a PanzerIV as an option when its practically obsolete by the time it gets on the field compared to Shermans and T34s?
Ostheer:
1 - Infanerie Kompanie
Man Power - 90 Gas - 10
2 - Battle Phase 1
Man Power - 200 Gas - 45
3 - Battle Phase 2 -
Man Power - 200 Gas - 55
3 - Support Amor K
Man Power - 160 Gas - 25
4 - Panzer IV Medium Tank
Man Power - 350 Gas - 125
5 - Totals - Man Power - 1000 Gas - 260
Note: If you include needing pak guns then you need to also add the
Leichte Mech. Kompanie
Man Power - 120 Gas - 15
So, total would be Man Power - 1120 Gas - 275
Soviets:
1 - Special Rifle Command or Support Weapon Kampaneya
man Power 160 Gas - 50
2 - Tankkoviy Battalion Command
Man Power - 240 Gas - 120
3 - T34 Medium tank
Man Power - 310 Gas - 100
4 - Totals Man Power - 710 Gas - 270
USA:
1 - Active Platoon Command Post
Man Power - 200 Gas -50
2 - Active Battalion Command Post
Man Power - 240 Gas -90
3 - M4A3 Sherman
Man Power -340 Gas -110
4 - Totals
Man Power -780 Gas - 250
Summary,
One of the items that stick out, is man power is a problem, cost around 200-300 more that the allies tanks.
PanzerIV
Man Power - 1000 Gas - 260
Soviets
Totals Man Power - 710 Gas - 270
USA
Man Power -780 Gas - 250
I appreciate your time and help.
Thank You,
ICE
In addition, this is strictly a build to get a PIV medium tank, and does not include upgrades or builds for ANYTHING else.

there was a time when you could build 2 mg's and a sniper, and go straight to a p4 before a soviet player could have a t34/zis out (smoke and blitz just laughed at it anyways). add a gren squad if you felt morally obliged not to float, and then add a pgren squad after your second p4 just to add insult to injury... it was bad.
yeah, but just fliping it the other way didnt fix it.... where now allies get the tanks out faster and are better tanks. |
Just tried the luftwaffe doctrine, good thought in theory... its almost your just stuck with just few doctrines to make up for not getting out a PIV, which seem like they come out to late..
So question is, why even have a PIV option if its almost useless for the time frame it comes out... weird to me |
This is your best bet if you want a p4 as soon as possible.
Thats only if you can hold the gas, P4 should come out faster.... |
If I aim for a P4 I usually build 4 Grens + Mortar, Skip T2 against USF if I am sure that no M20 will arrive and go for T3. The P4 will arrive after about 9-12 minutes.
But this strat is very risky as you have no counter against any light vehicles until you get your tank.
If everything goes as planned you can rumble your enemy pretty good.
But it's a must to get up T2 as soon as possible after your P4 because you need reliable AT units.
Can you make a video of you getting the PIV out in 9-12 minutes, I just tried a game just now and had 1 fuel cahce up and it still took me like 14-15 minutes and other guy had 2 T34s =/ . I had to back track and get At guns.... Please help me fix this otherwise I think its little unbalance... The T34 and Sherman are already better tanks.
Ill try the try luftwaffe doctrine. See if this helps. |
What is the fastest build order to get the Panzer IV Medium tank out for Ostheer?
I appreciate all input.
Thank You,

This is indeed hillarious to read. I was laughing out loud along with Sneaking_Sarge over skype... I found this amazingly funny: "Please update the MG42 to a more realistic suppression MG like in WW2 and to shred infantry."
Yes, I too would like the MG42 to be much more reliable when it comes to supression, cause right now, it's just a bit too bad - the dmg is nice though. Nerf the dmg output a bit and buff the supression rate IMO is better than: "This gun is OP IRL. Make it super OP in-game so it gets an ability to supress AND SHREAD ALL THE IVANS!!!!!! (And muricans)
What is sad, is this new generation of people are just going to repeat history, because they have lost reality in their imaginations. |
