Stop TD-spamming in COH3 and you will have the best RTS ever made. |
Locking down a sector? XD
The thing can't even pin an enemy squad before they decap and cap a point you hold lol.
That's before we consider the simple act of walking through/skirting its arc to throw a grenade/RG
I generally find that if someone goes T2 as soviets in team games they struggle to carry their weight.
That's absolutely untrue. The Maxim used to be so OP that it could end games before 6min mark and now it's in its "normal" place. Comparing it to the Maschinengewehr-42 is straight up retarded since the two vanilla factions have completely different scopes and tools to do so. And if we attempt to start this discussion we would end up again arguing about how asymmetrical both factions are, the fact that OST has 4 men squads while SOV can have 7 men cons, OST has ATG that only shoots vehicles whilst SOV has Zis etc.
That's the tool SOV have. Like it, not like it, it does not matter. It will never be a MG42 vol. II so let's just stop with this. |
the hetzer is alright because it torches infantry alive, but then you realize that both your standard medium tank (p4) and your nondoc heavy tank are infamously known for obliterating entire infantry squads with 1 shell randomly
making the hetzer pointless in most people's eyes
So P4J has the same target size as a UC, hence becoming a great AI tool right?
Right? |
Flame Hetzer is rather useless in my opinion. It is not a bad unit and performs well the issue is that it is not something that you really need with OKW.
Take Soviets for example, if you go for T2 opening or Conscript opening the T-70 fills a nice gap in the anti-infantry department. OKW already does very well with anti-infantry so getting even more anti-infantry through the Hetzer is pointless as it has no utility.
If it had an upgrade to convert it into an anti-tank vehicle or had some form of command aura with it then it would be worthwhile but at the moment the fuel is better spent on other things.
Again with the T70 bullshit. How many times are we going to say the same thing?
T70 is an excellent tank stats wise and for its price. However the SOV faction has become so absolutely dependent on it, it's 99% certain it will pop in a game. Because of that, any decent player will build 2 ATGs and when it pops it will count to 5 before becoming a piece of scrap. Hence, no T70.
It's so redundant that it's on its way to becoming a meme at this point. |
dude, if you can't use p4j, then learn how to play. if you never use it, you'll never understand why people still build it even vs 2 atgs. Just pay attention, never skip the recon with sweeping and cover tanks with the infantry and atgs. My guy, your armor will be gucci after this. Also P4 is harder to kill then a Hetzer and it can deal with medium armor. Just think for a second about this
Wrong.
P4 armor and Hetzer HP values are completely the same and the armor difference is 50 points if you want to look up the stats. And I am not even arguing against P4J tbh I quite like it.
What I am arguing for is that the "meta" of OKW right now is pretty trash and easily outplayed, so using a Hetzer plus 2 raks to stall for Tiger Ausf. B is way better. |
I like new maps, except Wolfheze. Elst is alright, but not a fan of the how fuel is designed, especially the top one. Crossing is a bit braindead, but passable. AoD can be annoying as allies and fuel is too easy to lock down. Eindhoven is good, but the no UI bug that very rarely occurs there is rather rage inducing. Kharkov is all over the place, but imo playable.
Winnekodonk, Vaux, Rails and especially Minsk (I think I played like 6 times on that map, horrible 3 lanes map) are my default bans for both factions. Imo, balance team should have left Poltava and kicked the Minsk out. At least Poltava was crazy enough to be somewhat enjoyable. Kind of want to add Moscow there, although it can be quite fun from time to time.
Wolfheze is easily the worst map in the pool right now.
Both fuels are back to back and whoever is lucky enough to put an mg in the house near point controls fuel production for at least 10 minutes.
It is ridiculous. |
the hetzer is alright because it torches infantry alive, but then you realize that both your standard medium tank (p4) and your nondoc heavy tank are infamously known for obliterating entire infantry squads with 1 shell randomly
making the hetzer pointless in most cucks' people's eyes
Fixed. |
The only viable tactic for OKW is to stall for a Tiger Ausf. B ("Konigstiger" is a name given to the machine by later historians, in German inventories it had a name of Tiger Ausf. B) and going for a P4J seriously detriments it.
It is way better to go full tech, put 2 raks and 1 Hetzer (which spawns first) and 3-4 Volks squads and wait till Tiger Ausf. B.
P4J is such a huge target, it will draw every snare and ATG from the enemy. |
axis mains on their way to intentionally charge into the maxim arc of fire so it doesn't get rightfully buffed:
you got me |
The Maxim is the tool the Soviets have on locking down a sector and/or using as a force multiplier.
If you suck at using it, it's not the tool's fault. |
