I have been opting for caches 99% of the time when they are warranted, simply because I want to help my struggling teammate.
Do you think it is better to go for those trucks? |
Borderline necro, but ofc Ostruppen is the best commander not only for the unit itself but for OST in general.
You have plenty of cheap and reliable cannon fodder, put them in green cover and they scale nicely too. The free MG and ATG is cherry on top. You also have a very decent offmap ability.
All in all, good. |
4v4 can be fixed easily: overhaul the map pool, and create really huge maps that make gangingup maneuvers risky (huge retreat paths from spawn) and allow the mode to become 4 1v1s with huge tank battles at the end.
Most of the current map pool is way too small to allow this, and 4v4 becomes a stupid mode because lose lane -> go one lane to the right -> 2v1 some poor bastard -> he quits. |
This is also an example of things I personally would change to make ELO hell less prevalent. But I do not expect Relic to fix this. This is way beyond scope for Coh2. Maybe Coh3.
Don't hold your breath. COH3 is only a decent Multiplayer game because a lot of people are "expected" to buy it. If we end up with 10.000players at peak time then it's a slow descent to COH2 madness.
No algorithm can fix low player numbers, and in a field where competition is giants such as LOL and DOTA2, you have to be very careful. I would seriously consider making the multiplayer aspect free, much like the previous titles mentioned. |
Yeah "thousands of points of damage" is a bit hyperbolic but probably fair. "significant MP bleed" is definitely bullshit unless you're playing vs actual bots.
And "easy" bots at that. Even at expert they can understand the importance of mortars or light vehicle rushes at MGs. |
Depends on the mode. In 2v2 and 3v3, premades are VERY common from what I can tell when I check the opponent's player cards after the match.
Making different play lists would increase the search time for everyone. What Relic should instead do is figure out how best to adjust the ELO rating for premade teams and match them to higher ELO randoms.
Yep ofcourse that would be the ideal approach to it, but COH2's playerbase is not so high as to allow this. |
its even surprising we got a third game installation, even if it started off as just coh2 assets in a new engine
italy is probably the most boring theater of europe, and likely the most irrelevant one too, they really could have picked any front and have it be more interesting. At least the grandson of Dr Goebbels, Duffy, who was directly responsible for the worst plotline in a RTS ever, has left relic in 2021
Duffy was also the one who constantly pushed the truck design of Brits in COH1 (creating huge balancing issues for anyone who remembers) and also was the first one to push that idiotic faction that was UKF.
I hope we see more sensible approaches to asymmetrical balancing. |
I think the well-deserved criticism of the CoH2 single-player campaign pushed Sega / Relic to launch the Western Front again, and again we will see the same factions in CoH3, which is already starting to annoy and I’m thinking about not buying the game. Instead of fixing the CoH2 situation with a single player campaign. And release a new single player campaign and focus around small but elaborate events. And the Eastern Front is a huge theater with a huge number of stories that are simply not used. Just a simple example to illustrate. Take the final part of the war Battle of Hungary. This is a huge scope for new Fractions: Hypothetical Guards Army with SU-100, ISU-122, IS-1, IS-2 various T-34 variants: T-34-85, T-34-76 with additional armor, T-60, paratroopers (who were supposed to be used in the landing operation in Hungary), 107-mm mountain mortars, BS-3 100-mm AT gun, and so on. The Hungarian faction which had its own tanks, and the German tanks (Marder, Hetzer, Pz4, Pz.38, Tiger) and the German support of the King Tigers. Hungary was the last major German offensive. Great story, the entire Eastern Front is a huge treasure trove of stories and operations. But it's much easier to make Enemy at the Gates and propaganda nonsense, instead of a detailed and interesting story about the Eastern Front.
100% agree. |
Pathfinder are good.
How come when I make a troll reply I always get modded but this guy just says shit like this and keeps on posting. |
Imo the main issue in 4vs4 are prearranged teams that have an advantage and can seriously mess up one's ELO
That's a general problem with MM. Many prearranged even play 2-3 games more and you end up playing with chances against you for more than a match.
My solution? Randoms don't lose ELO playing against premades. Even better, let a checkbox "Play against premades?" exist so that people can actually choose what they want.
Premades are a very little portion of MM in general, I don't really pity them if they cannot play for 20-30 minutes due to searching. |
