Commandos goes 350 Manpower, you pay 150 for the Glider.
Better to say that you pay 150 for showing enemy that your commandos are comming, giving him time to react and respond. While all other squads which can be called from ambient buildings can perform and provide much more hit'n'run attacks then commandos.
Commandos had extreme DPS, but at the same time enemy will ALWAYS knew that commandos are coming and ALWAYS see where they are landed.
P.S. if there is OKW flak HQ, glider will be pretty much always destroyed after landing, which means no ability to reinforce hurr-durr.
In that case 500 MP commandos call in pretty much worthless, since commandos are probably the weakest (in survivability) elite inf in the game, before Fallshims were weakest, but since Fallshims can be used at medium and long range, while commandos can be only used in close range, this makes commandos weakest and the most expensive elite inf in the game.
From Glider HQ they are fine, since they are on pair with PGs and Sturms (which probably would have nice chances of beating them now). But 500 MP for a single commandos squad is BS. Commandos call-in in that case should cost around 400-450 MP, not 500.
I cant get why they nerf commandos. 1 commandos squad couldn't wipe inf in seconds, 2 of them could. BUT this unit cost you 500 MP to call in one commander and 900 MP to build first one in second (540+360).
So they nerfed their DPS, mkay its fine, but hell, they are dropping models like crazy, even 1 LMG gren squad could kill 2-4 models on approach.
While their damage is slightly better then shock one, shocktroops still have titanium armor, kill squads rather fast AND can be beaten 1v1 only by Obersoldaten. Cost you 390 MP ... lelic balance.
Uh, really? I don't usually comment on balance, but how is a Sniper RNG? It's probably the unit with the least RNG in the entire game. The rules are simple - one shot, one kill. Predicable rate of fire. End of story.
Aimstong sniper was at maximal range AND on retreat and DevM axis sniper still managed to kill him. Only british sniper has like 100% chance of killing retreating troops if there is no terrain block, while Ost sniper has quite low chances of killing retreating squads\units.
I hate 2 things really:
1) This tourney forced players to play non stop, without any normal breaks. This is pure BS. VonIvan is already said that. I forget nickname of the guy, who was stomped by DevM USF in first 5 mins, but rifle rush and cut off, but it is best example really.
Sure DevM is better then him, but really this dude showed great 1 hour game, he play really nicely and watching how he gets stomped like a scrub in first 15 mins is BS to be honest. Sure DevM could be better, but watching how top (who rested btw) player raping tired unknown guy who managed to get almost to the grand finale, is crap. And during all of this we hear crying Ami who screams "WOW LOOK AT THIS BEST USF PLAYER LOOK AT HIM". To be honest, I was really pissed off.
I will repeat my self. DevM could be better player, but hell, give his opponent f*cking time to rest, he already played few hours of hard games, and now you throw him vs top player. This is basically free win.
2) Last grand finale game was pure example of RNG of shitty balance. Aimstong lost simply because his sniper was counter-sniped by DevM sniper. So super game was basically lost in first 5 mins. You got counter sniped? Well GG for you, you wont be able to make a comeback if your opponent would play safely.
Of course we could say "Don't pick brits" and its true. But again how could we speak about serious tourneys in game where 1 lost sniper mean GG for you. This is best example how shitty Brits are in their nature and not competitive at all.
Also I want to add. Look at Comet. This tank could be considered as "doctrinal" aswell, because you cant have both Churchill and Comet. But for some reason this unit cost you 185 fuel and its WEAKER in AT then Panther.
Comet you 185 fuel. Because its faster, have AI performance, 800 HP and nice penetration, can stand against all medium tanks, but could be damaged by AT guns and TDs, good range.
Panther cost 175 fuel. 800 HP Perfect frontal armor, good mobility, good range, zero AI perfomance, good penetration, weak to TDs.
E8 have 720 HP, mobility, good frontal armor against all medium tanks, good AI, really good penetration (200 penetration at close range), could be damaged by AT guns and TDs, can fight any Heavy tank frontally at close range or if flanking. Cost you 140 fuel
T34\85 have 800 HP, good mobility, good frontal armor against medium tanks (worst then E8 frontal armor, but it compensated by HP), decent penetration and decent AI performance, can fight all heavies if flanking. Cost you around 130 fuel.
PIV have 640 HP. Weak frontal armor without vet, with vet quite decent, decent AI performance, can fight all stock medium tanks, cant fight heavies even if flanking, good mobility, weak against all AT inf and tanks. Cost you 125 fuel.
Sherman have 640 HP. Weak frontal armor, poor AT perfomance, really good AI perfomance, decent mobility, cant fight heavies, weak against AT tanks, less weaker against AT inf.
T34\76 have 640 HP. Weak frontal armor, poor AT perfomance but better then shermans, decent AI, weak to any AT. Cost 90 fuel.
they are also doctrinal tanks. Also I have not many soviet players who go for t 34/85 commander, there are so many better commanders to use, garden, i am glad if my soviet opponent goes a commander with the 85
I don't know about this argument they are "doctrinal" tanks. I dont know how, "doctrinal" tanks connected with "it should cost 140 fuel more but perform like ~155-160 fuel unit". Sure they are doctrinal, but why they should perform like top tech tanks, while costing you almost like stock tanks?
For every PIV soviet\USF player can have T34\85 or E8. Both this tanks would rape PIV. I just want to ask why? Simply because its doctrinal? Why then doctrinal inf more or less on pair with stock inf if they cost you the same\close. So T34\85 and E8 can stay toe-to-toe with panthers (if used right), which cost Axis players almost ~35 fuel more, but PIV which cost ~10 fuel less then T34-85\E8 will have problems with both this tanks.
OKW Pz4 is really nice. I always use 3x +5% armour buff. Which makes it very strong. The Ostheer Pz4 is meh, but I'd vompare the Pz5 Panther with the T34/85
And here comes the problem both E8 and T34\85 could be compared with Panther, but not PIV. Yet, both E8 and T34\85 cost slightly more then PIV and out class it badly. So what the point of even having ost PIV is 10 more fuel E8 will dominate it all day long.
In vacum PIV is fine but in the game its quite strange and risky unit.
Lets compare all other general medium tanks with PIV.
PIV vs T34. PIV is much better, but still T34 can deliver good punch to it if flanking\used right. Not to mention that T34 is the cheapest tank in the game.
PIV vs Sherman. PIV have much better AT while Sherman have much better AI. In 1v1 fight Sherman will lose almost always, but with support, sherman could deal with inf protecting PIV and something else will deal with PIV.
PIV vs Cromwell. They are almost on pair, PIV is slightly better. But the difference in this 10 fuel. Its almost unnoticeable.
So if you look on PIV like this its look fine. But lets look in different way.
Almost all best soviet commanders have T34\85 and USF almost always uses Rifle Company with E8. Both this tanks can outclassed PIV in every possible way. Usually PIV wont have a single chance against them in 1v1 fight.
Firstly because of new Ost tech costs its impossible to build both T3 and T4 and have tanks. So you rather chose should you go for T3 or T4. And I'il say that PIV is not spammable, so it would usually be 2 PIV or 1 Panther. Panther still would probable perform better in AT.
Secondly if anything besides T34\76, Sherman and Cromwell hits the field PIV almost instantly put you in insane disadvantage and you are forced to use StuGs, since PIV is unable to do anything in this kind of situation.
So in such situation, you chose to be honest more between StuGs or Panthers, because as I already said, PIV can effectively fight only stock medium tanks, but its not like Ost\OKW cant do anything to this tanks without PIV.
The problem is that PIV is out of role completely, slightly more expensive T34\85 or E8 and highther will dominate it. So main AT for T3 is StuG, main AI - Ostwind. PIV can work in both AT and AI but very decently, so you would still have to build StuGs or Ostwinds.
In other words
I would say that PIV need more armor or more health, to be a "shield" for ostwinds or StuGs, because right know there is almost no point in building them as Ost. Even OKW PIV with its survivability and armor is MUCH-MUUUUCH better then Ost counterpart.
OR
It should really cost you around 100-105 fuel, and work like combined arms unit with Ostwind OR StuG support.
