No. I'm not here to defend anything or anyone. I made that pretty clear. I didn't even bring up the boosting because this thread isn't about that but since it has been mentioned - obviously the boosting isn't good but it's also unrelated to the reason he has been barred from participating in ML events and not nearly as despicable as maphacking (if that part is true).
This is straight BS. You came here to cast doubt on the maphack claims. Here is your post:
As for the evidence presented in A_E's initial video... in my opinion it is exceedingly weak.
Some community members messaged me some other clips that were slightly more convincing but personally I am not convinced that there was foul play.
The only clip that was even remotely suspicious in my opinion in A_E's initial video was when Seeking chased an AT gun to the corner of a map and from A_E's interview with Seeking, Seeking said that he had seen the AT gun prior to the clip itself. I have not verified this claim, but if true, even that clip isn't worthwhile.
The Brumb attack ground is mildly suspicious at best, however ordering an attack ground into a bottleneck when you know or suspect a push is coming isn't exactly mind-blowing. And I believe the AT guns had been shooting at his brumb when he ordered the second attack ground - although this was difficult to discern from A_E's youtube clip.
Looking at the edge of the fog of war isn't really suspicious in my opinion, especially early game if you're anticipating that a squad could show up, or trying to listen for some sort of vehicle. Everyone in this community listens into the fog for engine sounds/repair sounds or checks spawn locations in the case of team games to look at the base footprints. In 99-100% of my team games, I've looked into the fog to determine spawn locations, would that be evidence of maphacking? In general no, but if I had been accused publicly and people were LOOKING for evidence, it could be. Particularly if my camera happens to pan onto a squad while looking into the base.
However, I did feel like addressing the way that the entire situation was handled in hopes of encouraging similar situations to be handled differently in the future. The initial evidence showed little to no hard evidence of maphacking, and I believe that many of the clips that followed were simply confirmation bias.
I do agree that this should not have been made public.
To be clear, I have no dog in the fight.
You obviously do, or you wouldn't have posted this. If you want to defend him, go ahead, but don't pretend that you are not. |
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Seeking was some Eastern European or Asian guy without this level of popularity.
He would've been banned immediately and dismissed as another Chinese/Korean maphacker. |
I'd like to see ML-20 given a very slight buff and counter barrage removed from LeFH.
Maybe increase their pop back to 15 now that they can't be dealt with as easily with omega-commanders anymore.
I'd like to see counter barrage replaced with smoke. |
Then how do you know who's doing what? Is this uncle for real?
They analyzed the replays and found one person that plays at 30-60 APS and another that plays at over 100 APS so they're sure that it is two different people. |
Yes those obviously do. They are a problem too if they transmit personal data. Optimally, they only transmit if they found something weird and the rest gets never saved.
But we don't have such a thing. If I got it correctly, people are suggesting that some 'experts' get remote control access over Seekings PC and check all installed programs and data files.
Seeking wouldn't/shouldn't agree to something like this, regardless of everything else. Also, it's really not that hard to securely delete any file or make it invisible. |
His uncle has 3 VAC bans across multiple steam accounts, and is suspected of hacking in coh2. He admitted to playing on/boosting his uncle's account.
While I agree that the accusations probably shouldn't have been made public, just the boosting speaks volumes to his character and is ban-worthy all by itself. Are you really here to defend boosting? |
I'll snip the first paragraphs. I am not involved in any of the processes, but from what I got the current discussion revolves around banning Seeking from ML tournaments. While this is bad for him, it is different from being banned by Relic from CoH2 in general. I am not sure if you are aware, because your post is not clear on this.
Last paragraph would be a heavy privacy breach. Unless Seeking is fine with random people searching through his private computer (which he absolutely should not be), this is definitely not an option.
I think that a lot of the anti-cheat programs do look at the files on people's computers - specifically, the game directory.
Unless Steam decides to work with Relic to implement a VAC for COH2, people (allegedly including Seeking) are free to use maphacks. Most people won't because cheating feels wrong. |
It's only a problem if you choose the ISU commnader. There are several other commanders that gives you direct strikes. I think the balance team made it very clear the reason for that change You can't have a perfect commander that deals with everything. And Remember the commanders that LeFH(ost) belongs too aren't as powerful as the ones that ML-20(though that's no reason for ML20 to be shit though) belongs. GRCA is a very strong commander that everyone has access.
Storm is still pretty good at everything. It's awfully muni-dependent but still really good.
The slightly lower accuracy on the ML-20 means it loses most of the time to the LEFH. It is almost never worth building and generally a poor choice compared to getting another Katy. The LEFH is much more viable.
The ML20 used to be good when it had a huge AOE and much fewer shells. Relic greatly increased the number of shells in one patch, then quickly nerfed the AOE, making it much more RNG dependent than it used to be.
I'm not sure how much I would want the ML-20 buffed. I stopped playing 4v4 randoms as allied about a week ago after a streak of around a dozen games when my teammates built 6-7 arty pieces. I'd sometimes see people build 3 priests or Sextons, then wonder why they get crushed at about 45 minutes. |
Ostruppen are still very good and even got buffed with better late game scaling with LMG accuracy. The fact they they are slightly slower to arrive and you have slightly less resources due to T1 cost doesn't change their performance at all. Plus I've found that having access to T1 from the get-go means it's easier to mix in Snipers and Mortars which can be beneficial.
In 4v4, Ostruppen is usually a bad choice. It tells UKF that you aren't going to have any effective counter for a mortar pit until late, and invites Soviet or USF to get at least one mortar because you're going to be static.
Also, a vet 3 VSL squad seems to be a lot more survivable than an Osttruppen squad in the late game when facing a lot of indirect. |
Interesting that multiple people are not seeing the minor nuances that are clear indication for cheating. Remember, top level players who are cheating in any game are very good at it and do understand that their every move might be watched. Which in turn hurts their own natural game play and gives them a slight disadvantage.
Out of all the far-fetched denials, this is probably the worst. In addition to helping in the game that they're playing, it would help the player in future games against the same opponent because they will gain better insight into the other player in terms of what they build and how they react. I'd bet that all of the top tier players are bothered by this. |
