I actually feel this is the most balanced the game has been for a long time. I don't feel like I'm at a serious disadvantage on any faction at any point of the game assuming I haven't been outplayed or made a serious mistake.
As for the complaints about ptrs spam on the anti tank doctrine, P-grens absolutely ruin them. Ran into a few axis players doing it and each time it was such a devastating loss that I swapped out the commander. |
I've always thought the solution to MG's was to have different firing modes. One firing mode would be for suppression, it would move to different targets as they were suppressed, but deal a very very minimal amount of damage. The second would be a dps mode, which is pretty self explanatory.
To further my clarification of this, the current firing mode is in-between these two modes, but closer to the suppression side.
Edit - In case it isn't clear, the new suppression mode would be awesome for snaring blobs of infantry |
It's amazing the justifications people can construct for acting in thoroughly reprehensible manner.
"I know I throw my pudding around, piss all over anything of value, scream incoherently and generally act like an incontinent howler monkey. Sadly I have to do that because it's the only way to get things done.
It really pains me to have to act like that over a video game but I have no choice and I really don't enjoy it at all.
When I'm not doing that I appreciate medieval literature, pre-Raphaelite painting and garden parties"
I'm not saying it's the right thing to do. And just so we are clear, I did not participate in the stream at all, nor do I really think a lot of the comments that were made are appropriate (keeping in mind I only know what was said through form posts after the fact).
What I'm saying that this is a trend with the Company of Heros community. People have tried posting nicely on the forms, they have tried putting up websites devoted to improving game play (eg. Romeo's bug tracker) and it's simply not working. So now people are pissed and angry at relic, and having already tried the official channels and been unsuccessful they are looking for new ways to incite change. For most mature older adults, its to continue lobbying relic through their official channels. However this is the internet, and not everyone has highly developed social skills.
If this were back in the ages of kings, what we would be witnessing at the moment is a civil war, likely resulting with the head of a king being put on a stick. But it's not the dark ages, its 2015. So instead we get a whole bunch of internet trolls who throw insults out in an attempt to make the developers aware of how angry they are, and or quit their jobs to make way for new developers who can fulfil the communities needs and wants. |
Admittedly I've only been on the coh2.org forums for a short period of time, but I have played since release and always watched the official forums. Since release, the community has gotten more and more bitter towards relic and the choices they have made both in their game and the way they address the community.
People acting rude and inappropriate is a desperate last attempt to get the relic design teams attention to the problems that are effecting the game. And people, if you don't like it now, just wait. It's only going to get worse.

"All factions are played equally, and if Axis is at 80%, you're just "not on at the right time"
Wow I hope relic did not state this. Ya, both factions MUST BE PLAYED EQUALLY. You can't start a game without an equal amount of allied and axis players. |
So I'll take it the steam went poorly? If it did, I'm not surprised. Which is why I didn't bother to watch it in the first place. |
Despite having similar DPS, the bazookas suffer from having to fire more. So while volks can shoot and reposition, if bazookas follow suit they lose their DPS. While comparing the two you also need to look at the squads they are on, Vet X volks are WAY tougher then riflemen. So often times were the volks can stay and fight, riflemen are running for there life.
A good solution to this balance problem would be to buff riflemen toughness when they pick up bazookas. |
Lol Cruzz, thats what you call an RNG outlier. In that very same cast you can also admire the Luchs shooting repeated full bursts at 2 Airborne squads from point-blank and intermediate ranges respecitvely and archieving almost fuck all....
So wait, the luch was just rng, but a scott wiping an infantry squad with one shot isn't? I play with the scott daily, and I get a one shot wipe maybe every 5 games, and that's a very liberal estimate. |
The b4 is a strong artillery unit and preforms accordingly to its role. Everyone here is talking about using precision shot like it comes stock with the weapon, and that its some sort of amazing instant win button. So as someone who uses it on a regular basis in 2v2s I'm very familiar with its impact. So let us get a few facts straight.
1. The b4 comes in at cp8, which is also coincidently around when tanks start arriving, which is a very important time of the game. In 2v2's this means that you have to make a critical decision as to were to spend your manpower. Tanks or b4, you don't usually get both, and if you do, you were going to win anyways.
2. The b4 does not come with precision shot. You don't get this until vet one, which can be one shot or 20 depending on troop/tank movements and rng. It should also be noted that if you fight off an enemy squad, and leave your squad in the same spot after my infantry retreated, there is a good chance that there going to get hit with a b4. What I'm trying to say is that by making smart plays to avoid the first few b4 shots is a key step to countering it. The b4 relies on rng until it gets vet one, making it much less dangerous. Its during this time you should utilize your tanks to take it down.
3. It costs munitions to fire the b4. Every time I end up playing a smart player they realize that sacrifices have to be made to accommodate this. Number one on the list is mines, meaning they can play more aggressively with their tanks. As point one mentions, you likely bought a b4 instead of a tank. Now you are suffering a penalty on your front lines.
4. Your going to have to adapt your play styles to deal with this weapon. It does a very good job of beating up OKW players. If you keep losing to b4s, your going to have to take a proactive step and build stukas.
Don't want to adapt? feel free to play a diffrent game. |
I'm not sold that the Scott is op. It does a very good job of killing infantry, just like most of the other mortars do. I one shot squads with soviets 82mm and 120mm fairly frequently as well.
Another important factor to keep in mind is that the scott is very weak, look away for just a second and it might not be there when you look back. It can only soak up 2-3 shots from at weapons. Got a panther? I probably wont have a scott.
And hey, I'm going to be pretty frank. Axis have lots of AT options. Ya, diving a scott with 2 volks squads can be risky, but so was building a light vehicle when medium and heavy tanks are being produced.
