The sad thing is that grenadiers probably suppress faster than Rear echelons do when they use volley fire.
But the biggest influence of this little bit of suppression is probably that it makes the HMG42 even better. Than the other Machine guns because grens can keep suppressed squads suppressed longer than rifles or conscripts can, allowing the Ostheer player to switch targets more freely.
Also, Grens will win pretty much every even engagement against their counterparts. Like I said, if cons/rifles are in neutral cover 1v1 against a gren, the gren will suppress them. Closing ground just got a lot harder.
You'll just have to pray you don't need to cross any red cover at all (even for a second). |
Wasn't a lie, probably was just caused by something else is then. Just trying to figure out if it had to do with large model groupings or not
Well I figured out the problem relating specifically to cons: they already have a received accuracy modifier that makes them easier to hit. Adding on top of this the new incremental accuracy mechanics vis a vis model count means that grens can get lucky and get a bunch of hits on a con squad in rapid succession and suppress it
It has nothing to do with cons or incremental accuracy. This will work on any infantry squad in the game, from rifles to shocks and anything in between. |
Well that would actually be fucked up.
Indeed it is. It suppresses every infantry squad in the game. |
It has been said in this thread that those greens hadn´t LMG, so it is not the LMG, the one giving suppression capabilities to greens.
Like Burts added, having the LMG actually worsens the chance of suppressing a squad.
In the test, 1 Gren in neutral cover, was enough to suppress 1 con in neutral cover. |
I actually had a con squad suppress my Oustruppen yesterday, so it's probably from 6 model squads all being close to each other.
This is complete bs, and you know it. I tried testing it, and it 100% never suppresses the Ostruppen.
Please don't lie Alex, it's unbecoming, and it clouds the waters of what this thread is about. |
Was mortar fire in that moment?
No, it was early game, and no other units were about apart from Grens iirc. |
It would happen to other factions and units (because I'm pretty sure every rifle unit does a small amount of suppression) but most of the time there aren't enough models close enough to allow it to happen.
I actually had a con squad suppress my Oustruppen yesterday, so it's probably from 6 model squads all being close to each other.
Well this isn't quite correct, because in my case, it was 1 con that got caught by 2 grens the first time, and 3 the next. Both times it happened, was in neutral cover.
Interestingly, none of the grens had lmg's... so I don't know if that's a thing. |
So, I guess this isn't a bug, and is working as intended then...
Well that sucks. LOL! |
I think the Allies have smoke because it's the only way they can assault mg's now. It's on one unit for SU (so less abundant than the OKW), and you have to pay for it as USF.
Axis don't need it, because they can just riflenade the mg to death (no need to flank) or pop some elite troops in behind the mg for an easy forced retreat/wipe. Alternatively, you could just use some skill and A-move against an mg with LMG Grens/Obers/Falls.
If you guys want to swap, I'm all in favour. |
I see a necromancer.
Well, it's deja vu for sure.
No point making a new thread, when all the discussion on what made it OP, has come full circle. Hopefully this will prevent the allied/axis fanbois from regurgitating old arguments (who am I kidding?). |
