I think you answered your own question in that it was to easily countered. Essentially you could maybe use the air drop 1 time and once the enemy got any AA out it became useless. The ZiS truck still let's you rush out armor if you can put in on a fuel point. And the repair station just completely outclassed the infantry repair stuff so literally anything is an improvement in that slot.
Both changes are a straight buff.
I'd not call them a straight buff, you have to spend manpower, which is not a cheap resource in the early game as SOV.
Maybe i am just stupid and I don't appreciate the strength of these things because of how dynamic 1v1 captures can go
|
I muted katukov.
Industry got buffs, thats obivous.
But still I dont like recon. I prefer spy net.
So Soviet industry would be better wiht SPy net.
And kv2 is total garbage, I want this to be changed to mark vehicle.
Kv1 needs straight out buffs
\
Soviet industry is too weak against infantry blobs. The kv1 and kv2 are not blob killers but prey to blobs.
"KV-1 needs buffs" "KV-2 is total garbage"
please never talk about balance issues.

Soviet Industry Tactics
Vehicle Crew Repairs replaced with Recon Overflight
Allied Supply Drop replaced with ZIS 6 Supply Truck
the industry tactics doctrine is supposed to let SOV get tanks faster, and it is easily countered. Why remove it?
possibly adding this ability to other commanders that wouldn't mind it would be nice, or reworking the ability so you don't actually have to gamble on the airplane ever arriving. |
I feel like too many Soviet commanders have the ppsh upgrade. To add more variance, my suggestion is to replace Conscript Assault Package ability in the Advanced Warfare Tactics with the Weapon Crate Drop ability ( from Soviet Airborne Tactics). With the tweaks to Weapon Crate Drop, I think it won't make the commander too good just better.
they always fail horribly at this, so no thanks. |
Its worse than a panzer 4 nuff said.
It´s big, it can´t hit, it cant do shit.
You pay 640 manpower and 230 fuel and 21 popcap for something that is worse than a p4.
Puuuha
I see tigers regularly chipping down on squads and being good with support units in team modes
then again the panzer 4 is such a memey tank that it might actually be the same as the tiger in the department of "wait how the fuck did that panzer take out 5 soldiers in one shot at max range?!" |
Today I had a thought about the ambient buildings in company of heroes 2. You put units in them, they get harder to kill, simple as that, right?
But then, I have had an idea, why not amplify the resistance of the troops inside? you can technically do so, probably not with intention though.
I have tested the strategy of putting sandbags in front of buildings in cheatcommands, and then using an ostwind & 222 scout car to kill a penal battalion squad inside of a city 17 building, with 6 windows, so it targeted all six squad members. The penals went down surprisingly fast to the vehicles, adding a single layer of conscript sandbags will catch some of the shots of both vehicles, prolonging the life time of the penal battalions inside by several seconds. More layers (around four) will soak up way more shots, destroying most of the sandbags, but noticeably increasing the time at which the penal battalion endures the hits. I have not measured the time, but a penal squad without sandbags lasts up to 15 or 20 seconds.
*a layer of conscript sandbags covers all bottom windows of a building, additional sandbags are built in front of the existing sandbag
This isn't game breaking, although you could buy precious time for your building to hold out against armored attacks, if they don't crush the sandbags that is.
if there are several sandbags, clumped into a wall, tank shots are very likely going to hit the sandbags and damage them, not whatever else they're supposed to strike. long ago i heard about this type of strategy being used to defend static artillery from dives, yet i don't see it being mentioned often anymore
Fun stuff though, no? |
It'd be even more useless if it /couldnt/ oneshot mediums, though. It's just a dumb memegun that inhabits a pretty bad design space; Major changes are needed to make it anything less than a retarded and frustrating gimmick, I feel.
the standard shot remains the same, but the vet1 precision hit deals 70 to 80% of maximum health of a medium and heavy, so it doesnt ohk but doesn't disappoint either
or just return the OLD B-4 vet ability, German armor doesn't deserve a fair war. Plus actually hitting anything other than OKW structures would be pretty hard even with precision shot, unless the axis don't move |
The B4 was changed because it was AIDS. It was an inconsistent RNG cannon that either did nothing at all, or instantly killed a medium tank with lucky scatter.
I'm not saying that the "new" B4 is a good unit, it seems as though it needs further changes, but I am glad that the Balance Team seem to want to rework it into less of a memegun and into something that's actually usable/not AIDS to play against.
I'd personally suggest the AOE be increased on shells significantly, the damage somewhat lowered (So it doesn't obliterate squads), the number of shells increased, and perhaps having landed shells cause suppression/force buttoning/stun vehicles temporarily. I expect numbers would want to be tweaked a lot, but I think this would give it an identity apart from other howitzers. "Massive single nuke" certainly fit the B4 thematically, but I don't think it was something that could really stay as it was.
All howitzers are pretty AIDS to begin with, though.
The B-4 doesn't deserve to be reworked. Its an intentionally designed death cannon that largely had an impact in only team games, and hitting a tank with a direct hit was extremely rare to begin with. I have no justification for the existence of this gun, other than it's unique, memey purpose. Whats more, it needs the accurate shot back, but it does less damage to compensate and not insta kill tanks. Whatever the solution may be, it is not what the modders thought up of.
Might as well give it confetti instead, I'd rather have an useless artillery piece that MIGHT be completely busted, and not this three shot noob trap |
No, because penals don't underperform
Penals do have a single doctrinal upgrade, and a non-doctrinal upgrade - the PPSH from the VDV commander, which is completely useless, and stealing LMGs from the axis
The sole reason why they should have LMGs is to (improve their late game strength, let soviets have better long range infantry without having to use 360mp elite infantry) give Fritz a taste of his own medicine |
the KV8 is pretty good in 1v1s because you can wreck havoc on the enemy and there's no magical panzershrek blob to cheese you, if there is, then they lack some AI infantry.
in team games, the KV-8 gets easily caught up and gets damaged by panzershreks, AT guns, hell even tank ambushes. Imo the KV-8 could do better against blobs, but your best bet is to just prolong engagements for manpower draining |
