IS-2 used to have 240 damage with better AI and reload of 9 sec until 2014 and people did not like it.
So they changed that with better AT gun/160 damage and 6.4 secs reload.
and it still misses as the old is-2 did
this is the only response i can give: |
care to explain why in details?
the reasons might be that a tiger can tear up squads with it's laser cannon, causing stronger bleed
and then the armor the tiger faces is either lacking in durability, or is tanky but with a weak gun (or a comet) |
and add the leopard 2A7 tanks that replace the king tiger while grenadiers get x4 lmgs that cannot be replaced once models start dropping |
In sort the "flaw" is that one can counter the unit:
1)by Supported Panther
This is not really "flaw" a Panther role is exactly that to counter heavily armored vehicles. The real problem would be if a supported Panther couldn't not counter the IS-2 since axis would have no stock option and they would have to use the same doctrines again and again
2)by JT/Elefant
These more expensive dedicated TDs are doctrinal and their role is exactly to counter heavily armored vehicles. The real problem would be if these heavy TD couldn't not counter the IS-2 since there would be no reason to even purchase these units if they couldn't deal with an IS-2
3)by KT
A more expensive in cost a tech heavy tank.
So no, there is no flaw in IS-2.
About bringing nothing new to the table, that is not really IS-2 fault. People complain about KV-2 so it was redesigned to be closer to IS-2 and now there are complains that are to similar.
If a unit need to change that would be KV-2 which is an assault gun and not IS-2 which is a heavy tank.
retarded post
1 - what is the purpose of a heavy tank if a non-doctrinal tank can essentially face tank and beat you? doesn't even kite, you just smash your armor into it and both tanks drop to 1 shot kill range, very skillful indeed. allies obviously cant have heavy tank meta
2- jts/eles hard counter allied mediums, allied tank destroyers, and allied heavy tanks, not ONLY the heavy tanks. unrelated, but the balance team decided to also nerf basically all counters to these tumors at least once
3- it doesn't beat the king tiger and it shouldn't anyway, im just saying that you insta lose the game if you have an is-2 and they have a non-doctrinal heavy tank that very likely sees a "every fucking game"% pickrate in team mode and around "half the games" pickrate in 1v1s
also the kv-2 and is-2 are not the same?? they currently aren't and the kv-2 is already an assault gun with a playstyle unique compared to other heavies

elite armor and brummbar auto wins the middle point for you, there's nothing you can do, focus the side VPs instead |
Which is perfectly possible just without this ability. Just let the squad get suppressed, and the others flank the MG. Any good player will try to switch targets to the flanking squads manually. It doesn't matter much if your middle squad is immobile by suppression or hit the dirt. It's immobile, so the defender will switch targets.
You either time the flanking maneuver well enough to make it or not, but this ability does not help.
You're actually taking your own squad out of the fight. Even before it got suppressed, which technically means that you allow the opponent to switch targets earlier than necessary.
if you get suppressed normally you cant move and he will switch targets, with this way if he switches target you will send the hit-the-dirt squad mobile and walk straight through the machine gun
god has given you the ability to do human wave tactics, and you shall utilize them if you are audacious |
This ability is probably one of the worst you could get for a close range squad.
its an anti-mg ability and that's what matters, one squad eats up suppression and the others oorah around it |
All of the bulletin descriptions match that as well. "It did not penetrate, it just exploded Tigers with 122mm", and yet ingame it's not really impactful. I'd also be for such a redesign, priced the same as the stock King Tiger, stats mimicked but unique. KT would have it's weaknesses and strengths, and so would the IS2
this is the ideal solution, to turn it into a king tiger for the allies
but this would mean that the allies get an assault tank, god forbid the balance team lets allies have actually threatening heavy armor
They have Ptsd of some ancient time while current team mode is king tiger into elefant into overwatch or jagdtiger and nothing fucking else but axis heavy armor, its literally only heavy armor and lefh spam
its sure fucking fun, but god forbid the allies beat our armor that we can fucking a-move at this point |
And cons behind plenty of green cover will be easily suppressed by any MG due to there always being one model which can't fit properly behind cover, hence the large sandbag they can place. Your whole thread is mind-numbingly dumb and the arguments are silly at best.
assault package --> hit the dirt --> underappreciated commander ability |
Just to add to others (without having played the IS-2 much myself):
I think the main issues for team games are
1. a Panther can stop it. If the IS2 pops out of the fog of war unexpectedly, your Panther can still sit there and trade. And while this fight is fairly even to slightly in the IS2's favor (from what I know), the IS2 is usually trading down in terms of value. You can't break through in this scenario. The other way around: Tiger ambushes Allies, the Allies have to run and can at least temporarily secure the position.
2. No burst or alpha damage. The IS2 takes a long time to take out even a medium tank, it just isn't very cost effective in that regard. So you want to use it against infantry, but for this purpose just get a Katy. The IS2 has a good AI cannon, but it is not as wipey as a Katyusha, therefore it won't secure squad wipes as easily.
3. If the opponents get a JT or Elefant, which often the case, your IS2 is almost useless.
4. I am not sure about this point, but might it be that killing infantry does not give you as much XP as fighting tanks? At vet3, the IS2 is VERY good, but I find it hard to get to there. Harder than just using a Tiger.
this is what im talking about, the damage is apparently good, but the game is not a testing range and panthers wont sit down for 30 seconds. You can fight off panthers and the like, but you take a good beating from it as well, despite beating it after 3 years
vet 3 is-2 is good but honestly it should be better, allies still don't have a breakthrough tank, meanwhile the axis have panzer commanders, heat shells, blitz and smoke, should've given them meth as well |
