Good point. Treat your playerbase like thai hookers.
For the record I never got any stds from relic. Just because avast thought so doesn't make it true.
Seriously though, tell me why they should continue to produce new content if there is no monetary incentive. It's foolish. |
Can you not currently play? I've gotten my 60 bucks out of it. They can't work on it forever, only as long as it makes more money than it costs to produce. Econ 101 son
You got what you paid for. They are producing new stuff and will charge money for it. It's quite a simple concept. Why would Relic pay coders to make new stuff that Relic couldn't make money off of. It's a business. You can start a game dev/charity, but this is about the economics of video games. |
I think relic has the sense to know coho didn't pan out and not to emulate it. Furthermore, I think relic is going to shake things up while trying to find a more continuous funding stream for their five year plan since paid dlc commanders didn't pan out either. They need more money to continue working on this game than simply new sales, since it's no longer new and shiny and $60 bucks a pop. They are running a business. Stating you are entitled to all content since you paid for the game is either naive or entitled. I think they are entitled to try new ways to keep earning money, and by doing so continue to work on this game we all love. I'd much rather get nickel and died a bit than buy a new $60 FIFA or Madden every year with no intelligible difference from the last. This boils down to this.... If you want them to continue working on this outdated title you will have to pay them to do it. If we don't then they will be forced to produce something else to keep making money. Basic business.
Now we can quibble over the way they go about finding this new funding stream, but ultimately they will do whatever they want and anything we say means little. How much money they make will decide their next step. I heard lots of forum warriors moan over AA, but from everything I've seen it was successful. Do not forget they are a business and in business it all gets down to the bottom line. Everything else is secondary. |
ok, is all this still speculation from the "sleuthing" or has the event been confirmed by relic/powers that be?
i have yet to see any acknowledgement from official channels, perhaps i missed it? |
Not to urinate on your nationalistic pride my pole and briton friends but.... murica! Soviets would have ultimately won in my opinion but there is a reason Stalin was so pissed at yalta. He wanted some slack. The us mobilized the first fully mechanized army in the world from nothing in less than 3 years(We don't need no stinkin' horses. We eat horses. Murica!). were it not for lend lease the bits would have been in dire straights. America had something like half the industrial capacity of the world. It could likely be said the war was lost without any one of the three major allies. America and USSR were waxing while the British Empire was waning. All three and all of the other allies including Poles, fought valiantly to defend their way of life. We can all agree it's the Germans who are the baddies.. kappa.
Totally looking forward to any commonwealth inclusion, but from the code I'd guess full faction. Mediterranean or Normandy seems equally likely. seems probable that no new axis since relic has been working OT on AA and WFA. One single faction, and one the can borrow stuff from coh to complete seems more plausible than another two factions in ~1 year from such a big release. Figuring in all the other tid bits you coders have gleaned I'd definitely bet brits only and I'll be only too happy to buy it. |
This could be amazingly great. This could wreck balance. This could be all things in between.
Personally I think they will do everything they can to prevent the opness of a given combo. They know the game better than us. They made it.
Probably will be kinks to work out. the same Chinese kid who figured out the captain America bug will find some op combo and they'll snuff it out.
I'm gonna say it. I'm sorry.
I'm excited for this. |
Sorry fellas but I have to agree with papa bear. Sounds like a bunch of whining to me. Relic is a .... business. Businesses exist to .... make money. Since you all know so much start your own studio using your own view of "fair" economics and make awesome games. Basing all these notions on two lines of code is silly. Chill out. Relic has made mistakes but so have you. Relic will charge money for new stuff and you don't have to buy it. I personally have enough faith in them to keep buying their new stuff. If you want to ride relic into the ground then may I suggest you're in the wrong forum. We're coh2 fans here. Admittedly some more optimistic than others. |
A bear between Winston and Ike? Seems legit tbh.
That's not Eisenhower it's McAuliffe.

nice work. many thanks. will bookmark this one. |
I don't think an american tank which could bounce a panzershrek would break the game. That said, i doubt it happens. I think pershings are ugly as all hell personally. E2 more likely, but meh. We just need something that can reliably penetrate. Jackson's 240 dmg aint crap when it bounces two outta three rounds which always seems to be my luck.
historical accuracy argument seems like fanboyism to me. Your unit that had zero consequence on the war cant be in the game cuz february. My 5 units that were basically prototypes and had zero contribution to the war are non-doc because it was used 60 days before your unit.... and...... reasons. OKW has as much right to sturmtiger, ostwind, that flaktrack, i/r anything, and the PIVs(faction design) as usf does to something heavier than an m4a3.
besides, since when does historical accuracy matter? it's about authenticity, not accuracy. |
