In almost every stream Relic does the question comes up and they give the same answer, OKW has no serious AT options till mid game, and with how fast Soviets/Americans can rush out medium and light tanks it is necessary for OKW to have reliable mobile AT.

And making volks have 2 shreks is just going to make the issue worse, not better as long as OKW has a MP float due to lack of spending options. What makes sense is giving OKW more AT options instead of the shittiest AT gun in the game while gating all other AT behind a high fuel cost in a fuel starved faction.

And if a player is trolling you with Volks/Luch/Ober which is countered by every medium generalist tank in the game with infantry following it I don't even know what the fuck. OKW has no AT snare outside of making Fallsch/Fussiliers, you can literally run him over and kill his Luchs.

No one has said remove shreck/nerf shreck and don't buff anything else. Shreck nerf/remove would come with a buff to their dedicated AT gun and price changes to other TD's/tanks. The meta is boring and stale and has to change and I strongly believe the next patch will bring good changes to that..

I'm currently playing OKW/Ostheer exclusively in 2's and the difference to allies is ridiculous. Less stressful, no counter play what so ever, my baseline build counters everything... amazing and versatile meta oh wait.

Volks being the only OKW unit to actually ever reliably vet up is stupid and a problem not with Volks but the insane way the veterancy system works and the cost of OKW's units.

Volks are cheap infantry that vet up due to the fact they shoot at expensive things, the Stuka and Sturmtiger vet up slow as garden due to the fact they are very high fuel cost units shooting at only MP costing units (and the fact they don't do much damage killing infantry as they do hitting tanks).

Volks veterancy bonus's make them better against infantry by design, as Volks are garbage against enemy infantry till they receive vet. From a design standpoint the challenge is making Volk's scale more naturally with out making them even worse off when facing enemy infantry or more OP versus tanks.

I brought up my Sturmtiger use as a point that I don't enjoy the stale meta any more than the average person does which Is why I like to use rarely utilized units.

Exactly, so fix Volks by removing the shreck or making the unit become a tank hunter unit when they buy one, which could give them 2 shrecks for a higher amount but reduce severely their veterancy gains. The issue with the CoH2 engine is that units vet is balanced around either AI or AT... AI units tend to have lower Vet thresholds since what they are killing are worth less XP, whereas AT units threshold will be higher due to as you say the 'more expensive' units they shoot at.

CoH2 engine can't differentiate between the two, I.E a unit which is designed primarily for an AI role will vet extremely fast shooting at tanks.

The Volks vetting can't be fixed unless their design is changed, and lets be honest the current volks spam into vet5 shreck blob is boring... Making changes to their design and buffing their other counters (raketenwerfer) which in turn means if a US/Soviet player goes for a heavy medium tank build the OKW player can't just laugh as their army actually benefits from this as their blob slowly morphs into terminators and they actually have to counter it with puma/panther/jadgpanzer play rather than sit and wait till KT to yolo finish the game.

OKW has no static howitzer or mortar, how is stating that these units are not capable of being built by OKW bullshit?

OKW has a Infantry support gun (which is awful), and a Rocket HT, that's it. OKW's only "artillery" are off map call in's, which are good (except the Panzer Commander one, Idk wtf is up with that mess).



It's not better, but it's an indirect fire unit that doesn't mess with teching in the same way the Stuka does, and has longer range. It's a more traditional indirect fire unit (in the sense that it fires shells with a spread) than the Stuka Zu Fuss. A USF player can normally afford to get a Priest and have it see good use against OKW, while a Stuka is a very huge investment which isn't always useful (except in team games were having 1 player rush a Stuka can be very helpful, especially on Eddlefuck).

Ultimately they are only comparable because they are both indirect fire units in the WFA factions, both have indirect units that are garbage (The ISG and USF Mortar HT), but the Scott and Priest edge USF ahead in the mobile anti-infantry howitzer category.

All I want is OKW to have some on-map MP costing indirect fire units, so I can finally spend this gardening MP float on something that isn't more volks



I play more Axis than allies because that's what my AT's like to play, but I still enjoy playing Allies a fair amount. Plus if you have ever watched me play I'm really not your average OKW/Ostheer player lol.

In several hundred hours of COH2 since WFA came out, Iv seen exactly 1 Sturmtiger that wasn't made by me.



I don't think you understand how hard it is to get a unit to Vet 5 that isn't Volks. And since when has Ostheer had the ability to go to Vet 5

Considering Volks are your bread and butter unit and reach Vet 5 in minutes the second any allied armour hit the field makes me care very little about any other unit hitting vet5. If a luchs hits vet 5 then congratulations to the other player for incredible micro and skill to get it to that level, it deserves the bonuses it receives - volks don't.

I am confused whether you have even followed this thread at all? I guess the fact you build a sturmtiger in your super high level games means I should just ignore everything and base my opinion of the state of volks with your incredibly neutral statements.

I have to admit Iv not used a Tiger in so bloody long that I actually remembered the damn thing as having a slow ROF. Still for the Panther that's damn long.

No, you just talk trash to defend the only faction you play. Some of your posts used to be informative and enjoyable but you've succeeded in becoming as toxic as Sierra as mentioned by others and its probably time for you to make a new account since your reputation is in ruin.

I love CoH as a series, I want to make that clear firstly. I have been playing 2v2 Allies in AT with my friend to raise our rating. We are playing a mix of US/US and US/SOV. We are a mostly axis team.

The early game is extremely fun with great infantry engagements. Fighting back a double Kubel push with sturms/volks support is always rewarding. When moving into the late game however the game just becomes so stressful and unenjoyable without cheese units (B4, P47).

Seriously every tank engagement is like hoping to the gods your tanks actually perform for their price. Every single game KT/Panther attacks results in just rage as you have to carefully micro your Jacksons to stay away from the vet5 volks shreck blob only to have them bounce everyshot on enemy armour and die instantly if the volks get in range for a slight second (very easy to do lets be honest).. and then WHILE microing our jacksons our riflemen are just getting vaporized by the obers squads running around (The amount of concentration you have to put into microing your glass cannons means the average player loses concentration over their inf). Even if you get some lucky pens they reverse blitz away or if they are Wehr they just smoke. I finally know how annoying this is (I am usually an Axis only player).

It actually ruins the entire enjoyment of any tank engagement (Oh shit dude I just completely outplayed him and I'm about to get the kill! wait nvm he smoked gg) - The way in which Allies smoke works is balanced.. why do Axis tanks have a 'Lol nah mate' ability? Shouldn't Allied tanks have this if anything?

I can see some people enjoying this fighting all odds game-style but it was awful. In the end we were forced to play double Airborne and stack munitions crates to have a chance (it was hilarious).

Does anyone else have any input on this? We felt as if RNG greatly favors Axis and that just is not balanced. Especially considering the fuel difference between Allied Mediums and Axis Mediums/Heavies is negligible at best considering the amount of RNG you get in your favor with a heavy/panther.

For now we are going back to OKW/Wehr match up with the other 90% of the community.. honestly its just so much funner and less stressful.. RNG is in my favor then too which is always good
