Also, you could argue that their having an FRP of sorts (actually, 2, with the captain) facilitated that blobbing even more, especially in teamgames, where they were the only faction that could just head butt and mass retreat and be back so quickly. lul, because you believe no one was blobbing with the vanilla factions before opposing front get release? Do you really think blobbing requires a FRP to be effective. If you give a Half-track to OKW and USF, then they'll use it. And believe it or not, it is going to be worst vs good blobbers. You may get it easier vs trash blobbers - and I'm not even sure of that. But good blobbers, those who actually roll over you already will roll even harder cuz they'll reinforce on the field making their blob unbeatable - no need to retreat. In: COH2 Gameplay

And they are as much as effective than OKW, USF or Brit. Today there is no established links between blobbing and FRP. There is no established link between FRP and successful Blob. We all know a single HMG cannot hold a blob managed with a minimum of micro so your single HMG will not perform any better with the removal of FRP. Now there are many way to reduce the impact of FRP. There is no need for rocket scientists to find ways to reduce its impact on the game. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Eastern Front Armies Revamp 22 Jun 2017, 06:51 AM I have a question for M.Smith, are you sure Relic will allow them to remove FRP? Do you know what scope Relic is agreeing on to be modify? If I found the concept of using a mod to test different balance changes interesting at the beginning. I have the impression this is going a bit too far actually. I don't think Relic wants you to change so many basics in order to achieve a balance patch. But I maybe wrong so I ask the question. As far as I see the game today, it is quite balance in 1vs1 and not so in teamgame. The reason is a superior synergy between OKW and Ostheer and a evident superior late game over Allied factions. So now to continue to improve the balance, the topics are: Balancing Soviet is about finding a solution about Penal/dushka Cons/Maxim. Balacing Ostheer is about reducing their late game advantage now that they are not so weak early game. This mainly concerns 1-2 units and 1-2 abilities. Balancing OKW is about tweaking their early game advantage and also reducing their late game advantage. 1-2 units early game and 1-2 units/abilities late game. Balanceing USF is about other factions tweaks, when OKW early game will be more balance and Ostheer late game as well, the faction would probably be balanced in 1vs1 and teamgame or requiring minor changes. Balancing Brit = dunno not expert. And all of this doesn't require so much changes in my opinion but require a lot of testing. . I'm sure it will not be effective before 3-4 patchs to find the perfect balance between units and factions. What I am afraid of the way you are managing your mod is that Relic forbid you to touch some balance pilars of your patch such as the FRP and then make all your work useless. In: COH2 Gameplay

So the balance is 1 RE+ 3 RM+ 1 officer and access to Weapons (free bar+Thompson or free Thompson) vs 1 ST + 4 VG and access to Weapons and incendiary grenades. Which bring us back to my original point that OKW do not have more squad on the field in the same amount of time as claimed by OP. Finally vs USF kubels work allot better than infantry. They are much more versatile than RM once T1 is setup. And yes Kubel is probably the biggest offender early game. Imo from my biais perspective, Kubel should see its armor nerfed and volks flamnade re-worked to be effective vs building only. @Nano. I don't really know what you have to invest into your volks, everything is unlocked with your tiers. The only investment is the 60mu STG upgrade. Losing a vet5 volks or anything vet3 is about the same problem. In: COH2 Balance

I can't remember the T1 fuel cost. 1- The lieutnant comes much later than the 4th VG but with a LMG, this is usually the first squad equiped with an LMG on the field. 2- RE + 2xRM <<< ST + 2xVG. There is always a time gap between the 2nd RM and the 3rd one. While RM and VG are balanced around range early game, RE is <<< ST which shift the early game in favor of OKW. 3- Kubel hold perfectly RM squads early. As USF your main squad cannot play offensively vs a single kubelwagon. In addition of having a better starting unit, OKW also have the best early game unit to soak damage and deal damage to Riflemen squads, retreat and repear for free. 4- Rifle need to retreat to their base to equip LMG while Volks can do it on the field 5- OKW get access to flamnade without additional cost on their T1 6- VG can build their own sandbag which makes a huge difference early game. Green cover vs nothing. 7- VG need T1 to use pfaust while RM need to be vet1. So once T1 is up, any VG can use it while you rarely get all your RM vet one when your T1 is available. 8- OKW have T0 Atgun access, USF t0 Mortar access. 9- USF can build position for 125mp In: COH2 Balance
Thread: How tf do you use fighting positions?21 Jun 2017, 10:10 AM Early game to deny a House cover close to your cutoff, better if placed behind a edge. It serves well on many 1vs1 map with those pesky buildings. On ettelshit station map, you can deny the train station from garrisoning as example. On 3 ponts, you can build one or two as well to deny some areas early on. Midgame, if you float MP, you can build 1 or 2 to cover a flank. This depends on how many indirect fire your opponent has. If he went full volks or full gren, you can build one or two, it will force him to build a mortar. Late game, same as midgame. -Do not put them on the frontline cuz they get destroy fast. -You can build a couple of tank trap to protect them from direct fire. -They are cheap and do not cost pop, so if you have some munition left, upgrade them so you can focus on your attack. -The HMG pin really fast actually, there isn't a single squad that can decap under its fire. We all know relic designed and balanced the game around 1v1. FRP in that sense makes sense - maybe 10 sec off the retreat, or completely change the battlefield by basically moving the base to another corner of the map, OPP cost being that you get farther away from the region you decided stay away from. The maps in 1v1 are sizeable enough to make that kind of thinking make sense. All that gets destroyed as soon as you go up ONE gamemode. Instead 10 sec, its 30, 40, 50, 60 secs... Instead of helping you to focus on a part of the map by forgoing the other, you get to focus on only part of the map you need to focus on. FRP simply does not work as intended 2v2+, i would argue, and it disrupts the hard retreat, soft retreat and back and forth mechanics of CoH2 negatively. Is infantry murdering machine such as the KT or the brumbar beneficial to gameplay? Because if the answer is yes, I don't know why you could suffer a almost instant wipe squad and then have to hard retreat till the end of the map to come back. FRP is a necessity for at least the factions not having heavy stock tank detering both infantry and tanks around. In: COH2 Gameplay
