Yeah, I understand it's a downgrade. However we can solve this problem through creating a weapon toggle button, or independent targeting.
But why? This game needs more decisions, not less. At weapons shouldn't harm infantry, and giving infantry the option to not use them makes at upgrades brainless and dull. |
The damage AI is already so low, and model snipes are such a rare occurence, at least in my experience. Reducing AI effectiveness would work, but leave that squad with basically 4 members. They should either make it able so you can de-equip shrecks, like sturm mine detector, or have each weapon target independently. For example, when a vehicle is in range, the infantry would continue firing at squads while the shreck targeted the vehicle.
But that's the whole point. Going for at is a downgrade to AI, and you have to make a decision. |
The AEC was only buffed against infantry. It was already a really solid anti-vehicle unit.
It never needed to be good against infantry.
Adjusting its cost will be the full retard move though you are correct.
Just slightly reduce the AoE again (not back to what it was, but maybe about half the increase) so it isn't turbomurder against infantry and it'll be fine.
Really, the nerfs to brit sniper are the reason they are so desperate for a snare. Not only did it have critical shot vet 0, but it had a passive chance of a temporary snare. They SHOULD have nerfed the sniper against infantry instead by increasing its aim time and making it more of an anti-tank unit.
Once again Relic demonstrates that they should A. Not listen to this community and B. their original faction design is almost always superior to everything they change later on.
You only read half of my words. The AEC was buffed because it was a dead end tech unit. It literally did nothing besides counter light tanks (anything weaker than a puma). Once its role was complete, it was useless, because of its buggy vet 1 and inability to kite.
If you went for the AEC and the opponent didn't buy a luchs, you just delayed your cromwell for no reason. If you don't go for it and a luchs arrives, you lose. It was a damned if you do damned if you don't unit, and that was bad.
However, at its current rush speed, any reasonable AI at all on this unit is overperforming because of the fact that the AEC will beat every other vehicle onto the field and bleed manpower with little counter. |
The issue is not only the aec. The AEC being overpowered is the symptom of a bigger issue.
Does anyone remember why the aec was buffed? It was buffed because ukf had no true counter to the luchs, and because the aec was a dead end tech unit. If you return the aec to its old stats, we go right back to the old patch issues for brits. If you delay the aec, you pretty much kill okw vs. Ukf.
What is the answer? In my opinion, what needs to be done is a delay of all light "tanks" to the same rush speed as the t70.(yes, this includes the stuart).
This way, all factions have time to prepare for said armor rushes, and aren't overly punished by losing field presence rushing for counters to the light armored threat.
Another, simpler fix would be to give the brits a snare on their infantry/ sappers, and return the aec to its old stats (with maybe a small buff to its AT accuracy). |
This game gives a good overview of soviet reserve army and soviet industry. Showcases the strengths of rapid conscription and the scouting potential of AT partisans. |
Tested, you need at least six to get rid of a OKW truck. 270 ammo, and six penals..
This is incorrect. You only need 3. Make sure the satchel lands on the truck itself.
Penals are great units. The only thing wrong with them is the fact that they fulfill The same role as conscripts. Penal starts give you a weak early game, since you are behind mp wise, but gives you a boost mid game. You just need to keep them from n groups of two, and flank enemies. 2 squads will melt any opposition until obers arrive. |
Sorry seem we play different СoH2. In my version penals is nothing without flamethrower. Men who use penals is novices who do not know how does a game. Or veterans tired of endless Shock Rifle & Guard coordination and playing now NKVD, Conskripts Tactics and other trash like Defence Tactics.
You should give penals another chance. They are absolutely amazing on urban/ midrange maps, and transition well into lategame with vet. I've beaten quite a few good players with them in 2s random and AT.
I built t1 with my first ce squad, then straight off build 4 penals. (Sometimes with an M3 in there for kubel hunting). At 22mp per model, they are almost as cheap on reinforcing as conscripts. Then, I lock in reserve army, and rely on at partisans to crush enemy light armor, and recon (They cloak).
Lategame, just get 2 su76 for at/ indirect fire, and spam out cons for free with rapid conscription, using your vet3 penals as flanking squads for your vet 0 conscript fodder-horde, and spamming mines and trip wires when you can to even the playing field. |
The issue with giving grens G43 and LMG42 together, is that it would make them shit ALL over conscripts.
Cons only beat grens with regular rifles because they have more members. With the lmg42, they have a worse chance because they usually lose a model on closing. With G43s, cons would lose at all ranges.
I would support this idea if the G43 upgrade gets adjusted for this possibility, and if cons get a nondoc upgrade to increase their versatility (or make penals have a different, useful role). |
I think that the M8 has pretty good vet. At vet 2, it reliably snipes models, and seems to vet quickly thanks to its cannon and low cost (compared to other vehicles).
The only thing it needs is a little utility, since the canister is pretty meh.
I would say either a recon mode (T70 or valentine style) or a smoke ability, defensive or offensive. I know that real life M8s had WP rounds and smoke pots. |
If you guys want to use conscripts as an unstoppable wave, use reserve army. Rapid conscription + PPSH gives you insane amounts of conscripts on the field, and you can always use tank hunters and howitzers for your excess mp. |
