You can't have long range great AI and AT. You must sacrafice something.
ISU sacrafices little AT in order to get great AI.
Do you consider JP IV, Jackson or Panther as a garbage AT? Becasue they have worse or similar AT capabilities to ISU.

austra why do u comapare JT and ele pen to isu if the isu is having trouble penning med/heavy armor. dont make since dont matter what those tank have. allies armor so weak it dont matter they getting penetrated. and on top of that there dmg per shot is really high. this thread is about how the isu puerce armor not other tank penning armor |
It's supposed to take long, the idea is that you decide if you want an Assault Gun or a Tank Destroyer. It can be good at both because changing configuration can't be done in 10 seconds. Compared to units like the Elefant, who can't do it at all, it's a pretty good deal.
when i use an elephant...im super confident almost every single shot is going to cause havoc. when i use an ISU on say a tiger. im Praying that ill pen...and its dmg is much weaker then an elephant. isu is still stuck in AP no matter what anyone says its a anti tank role when its in AP mode. it should play a good role. while its on field it still cost pop. u still had to pay insane amount for it. why should it suck. dont understand. ppl must not want it to get a litte more pen. i never defend bad balance on thread cuz im worried relic will change it, to many ppl doing that now days |
The ISU-152 wasn't intended to be a Tank Destroyer at first, so this is not the question.
Furthermore, as a Tank Destroyer, the ISU rather used HE shells to knock out tank crews. Like for the IS-2, we're not searching for penetration here, but for gross power.
( But i'm not saying that an ISU-152 that don't pen a Pz.IV is normal though )
But don't expect to easily pen a Jagdtiger or a Tiger II with an ISU or an IS-2, big caliber guns and not expected to be use for anti-tank role. So on this point, the game is more or less realistic.

Maybe they could have different configurations rather than just simple shell switching. In base you can decide for either AI configuration or AT configuration. For AI it'll be kinda like direct-firing an ML-20, for AT it'll be about on-par with an Elefant. You can swap back and forth in base and it'll take a few seconds to do so. Maybe an icon over the vehicle will show you which configuration it's set up for. as long as its useful something but that will take to long to keep going back in forth from base to switch. maybe be in territory |

3. I have no problem with ISU AP shells. Killed countless times Ele or JT with ISU in 2v2.
Sure, sometimes it bounces but it should. It's not pure AT like Ele or JT.
not trying to discuss history just pointing out it should be an upgrade for penetration over su85 no? u waiting a long time for it. u paying way more, comes in a doctrine, it locks itself in AP rounds to not pierce armor? just my thoughts... getting this units kills urself more then changing tide in favor ele have more dmg per shot and pen its supposed to be a better TD then isu. But an isu going up against axis armor ur not supposed to compare what his pen is to axis. it needs to be balanced for itself against other heavier armor. not worrying about how much something else got |
Make it so it can shoot with 3 shells/320dmg each.
I don't see any difference between precision shot and for example PzWerfer or Stuka zu Fuss wipes or Stuka dive bomb. You hear the sound, you don't know where excatly it will land, it can wipe everything, so what's the difference?
I rememeber huge whines about shooting at Med Truck after retreat. How is that different from shooting at med truck/ambulance with Werfer/Calliope/Stuka?
Sure, B4 is more powerful but if so, presicion shot could do 50% damage of normal barrage. i still use the b4 its not to goos but rng can change the game once in a while. i think the b4 should get some extra aoe dmg. that wont kill inf but the shock will cause alot of dmg |
It's OK, Pretty strong on maps like Trois Ponts and hamlet. yea its kinda better since its a small map and gets better accuracy. but! that being said becuz the map is small allows for easy sight to offmap arty. or fast in and out hits, werfers and stukas in range. it just gains alot of weaknesses in small maps. once one dies u feel like ur gona lose cuz u spent alot on an arty that axis can kill really easy due to alot of good offmaps |
Guys... The only vehicles with better penetration than AP ISU152 are Firefly, Panther, JT and Ele... (tho consider that ISU with 70 range has 200 long range penetration while Panther with 50 has 220).
So in the end, we end up only with Ele and JT with superior penetration. so disregard its performance then? lol ISU is a super version of the su85. was made to have beter penetraion then a su85 or even a su100/su122. but thats now where near tha case.... how is it less mobile with no turret super expensive. and ull be lucky to buy one if the game last that long if u live long enough to buy one. idk man just tired of ppl trying to find any arguement they can to say isu AP pen is fine
