He's not wrong. British faction is one of the worst-designed factions in all of RTS history. Playing it has to be the least-fun any one person can go through for a game that's suppose to, you know, ACTUALLY BE FUN.

Your post is mostly spot on except this.
In a sense, Bofors doesn't need an ability which lets it become yet another indirect fire piece, it gets its value already from infantry area denial. Counters to the Bofors come well after Bofors can be built, IMO its far too good for its cost. (And thanks to that ability, if the bofors user is paying attention, then Pak40 Isn't a counter)
Also, no-one has problems with Pak43 and LEFH emplacements since the beginning of time, they're all so easy to decrew back in vanilla, but especially now with WFA factions.
i think he hit it super dead on. to me brits get punished hard when they lose any emplacement. and the pop cap of them and cost....its a l2p issue. brits always have little mp and struggle when fighting verse good players trying to kill ur mp and cap pushing constantly with no downtime. pros play different then noobs. emplacements might be a little harder to kill in a team game obviously cuz ur not gna 1v1 its the same feeling allies get when taking on a lot of heavy tanks with mgs and atguns. and lvl 3 inf pushing hard smartly. its a lot tougher to play as allies all there units are weak cept brits there like okw in a way |
And the SU-85 has the highest penetration at range and rate of fire of either three stock Allied TDs with one of the Allied TDs relying on an expensive gimmick to get anything done. Furthermore, it probably has the highest survivability against the the main predators of TDs which is ATGs by being the hardest to hit.
It is worse against heavies in terms of the number of shots required to kill, but it's also not as punished for its misses and does better at the range their intended to fight at. Furthermore, it can self-spot which helps it as the Jackson got a massive hit to its self-sighting veterancy in the Balance Preview. Firefly can get a TC for more LOS, but it's also the most expensive TD of the bunch and can still die at the same rate as the SU-85 if not faster.

And people saying that the SU-85 tickles heavies, most games show heavies and tanks will generally back away after receiving 1-2 penetrating shots unless it's an all in or it's chasing a badly wounded unit. And the SU-85 only needs 1 more shots to kill the 1040 and 1280 heavies which by that point, it has already put in another shot thanks to its faster reload. It also penetrates the KT 76% of the time at veterancy 2 with that penetration buff versus 51% of the time with its old penetration.
su 85 is turetless and slow asf now reloading wats the point of vet2 penetraion chance if it lose all its attack speed. it really need its reload speed back at vet to or nerf all axis vet speed to to make it fair cuz su85 is crapier then i thought it was gona be with tons of testing on the preview. hard to kill tank now while chasing them cus su reloads slow. u hit a corner and get murdered cuz no turret and slow rotation. i think if u would made the su85 vet like 15% pen and 15% ROF would be fine not take all the speed away from only the su85. its turretless its not a jackson or firefly... its need its speed |
Hey so the new Su-85 does it do 200dmg/shot like Jackson/Firefly or old 160dmg? Cuz I'll take alpha over dps everyday.

It's why Guards should replace Penals as a T1 unit. SU severely lacks non-doctrinal AT infantry. It would pretty much deem conscripts useless, though - it could be prevented by giving non-doctrinal PPSh upgrade packages to conscripts.
I don't get what the purpose of penals is. It's pretty much the most flavor-less infantry unit in the game. I thought it would be pretty cool if they were redesigned to be something in the vein of Osttruppen - cheap and weak cannon fodder. if su got guards as t1 unit omg.. im banging anyone everyone game |

In terms of meta game, the penal's complete lack of anti-vehicle make the build vulnerable to tanks and light tank.
on the other hand, they are just about the best anti-infantry squad in the game. Only the ober compare are as good at it. The unit force the okw and wehr to use support weapons or tank as the penal seems to dominate infantry combat.
firespark its funny that u say that cuz the other day when we were playing i went penals and i was smashing someone at first but his light vehicle kill many of my penals and a wipe that game to even the fight. i couldnt get snare nades or atgun cuz i went t1. i like the penals tho atm there actually worth getting now. |
Assuming the SU-85 is vet2, stationary and we ignore cooldown and gun rotation. The old SU-85 will need about 29 seconds or 11 shots to destroy a vet2 Panther on max range.
The new one will need about 40 seconds or 8 shots.
