You just love heavy tanks, don't you Aces?

Yeah I do. It's just great the kind of effects that the heavies can have on a battle. It's also fun to watch and come up with ways to counter them and take them down, almost like some sort of boss battle.

Corp.Shephard, can I ask how you feel about Elite Troops Doctrine in 1v1? In particular, is it still feasible to use Stun Grenade to get a squad kill at higher levels of play?

I used Elite Troops extensively, in both 1v1 and 2v2. It can work wonders, or it can really hinder your ability to push. It all depends on how you play outside of the doctrine.

Mainly what I do is I will get two squads of grenadiers or MG42's and a sniper. I use the troop training ability on the sniper, which gives him an instant Vet 2. His ability to stun an enemy squad is extremely useful, whether you're trying to stop a push, retreat, or give yourself some time to react.

Beyond the sniper, I don't use any of the doctrine's abilities again (save the stun grenade, which is decent at times, but I usually opt to just use a normal rifle grenade or bundled grenade instead) until I tech to T3 and get an Ostwind out. Once the Ostwind comes out, I troop train that as well, giving it Vet 1. This is particularly useful because it unlocks the Blitzkrieg ability, which can get you in and out of situations very quickly. Not to mention that the Ostwind is an infantry killing machine, so once it hits Vet 2 it is really punishing enemy squads.

From there it's all situational. I like the Jaeger Infantry package on panzer grenadiers. The panzer tactitian ability (smoke) is also really helpful for preserving your vehicles.

I find that the doctrine is extremely good if used correctly and you can micro your units effectively. Being able to vet your armor up instantly is very valuable. And once you get the Tiger Ace out, nothing should be able to contend with it granted you still have your infantry and Vet'd armor on the field.

I wouldn't necessarily agree. I have been successful on both the Northern and Southern spawns. What exactly about the Northern spawn do you find gives the advantage?

I'm sure this has been brought up several times, but I just wanted to bring it up again to get some more up-to-date information. Is there, or has there, been any talk of possibly adding the tank to the US Faction? I understand that many people are against the addition of a heavy for the US because they are centered around flexibility and speed (or some other form of the word).

The thing that I think calls out for a heavy in their arsenal is that there is no real spearhead that the US have. Some would argue that the US are centered around their infantry, and their riflemen are their spearhead. However, as the game progresses, this isn't exactly feasible, especially when the Germans field some of their heavy tanks, that can punish infantry effectively, while soaking large amounts of damage from AT.

If Relic were to add a commander into the mix that allowed for a Pershing call-in it would add a lot of variety to the strategies of the US. I feel as if right now the basic US strategy is to field as many riflemen squads as possible, upgrade their weapon platforms, then wait for your Easy 8's and Jackson's. To me, it would add some interesting counter-play if a heavy tank were to be added, allowing it to become a spearhead for advances, while your tank destroyers bring up the rear or flank.

I don't feel that it would make the US overpowered in any way, as the commander would have drawbacks, just as it did in vCoH. In vCoH, going Armor doctrine was essentially a waiting game, you had to hold as much as you could while waiting for the opportunity to call in your heavy, which I thought was good for some circumstances, and bad for others that may call for a more aggressive doctrine such as Airborne. I feel like it would be the same for CoH2.

What are your guys' thoughts? I just want a US tank that isn't made of styrofoam

Hey guys, was just wondering what your thoughts were on the King Tiger vs. the Tiger Ace. What is the more useful unit? I am trying to take all things into consideration here, including the time it takes to get these units out.

As we can see, the Tiger Ace comes out as a vet 3 Tiger with increased sight range, or so I am led to believe. The King Tiger comes out with no vet, but it has the possibility of vet 5 (which I don't necessarily think is even possible in a normal game, especially because it takes a while to get the KT out in the first place, maybe only being able to get it to vet 2 if you are utilizing it well.) The KT costs 720 manpower and 260 fuel, with a 26 population investment. It also requires all 3 sWS Halftracks to be upgraded to be purchased. The Tiger Ace is a call-in unit so it takes 15 command points, on top of 800 manpower, and like the KT comes with a 26 population investment.

I do believe, even without testing it, that the KT will definitely come out faster than the Ace, but am wondering which is the more potent unit. What are your thoughts?
