An option would be to have some commanders only playable in 3vs3 and 4vs4.
Those would do the bring the balance more even by having global modifiers affecting the units in need of adjustments for those play mode.
what do you think ?
Sadly, can never be done because of how the commanders are parsed out through DLC. It's not a good business practice to put huge restrictions on stuff you've sold people after they buy it. What if I only play 2 v 2 or lower and then, for instance, the "Lightning War" doctrine that I bought for $3 is deemed only suitable for 3v3 and up?
Otherwise I think it's a really great idea though! |
I found it boring when losing an early engagement too heavily ended the entire match in vCoH. Maybe the new system isn't perfect, but if the game match has to go on for 30-40 minutes, I'd rather it not get decided in 5. Now, if you wanna speed up the scale of the game, I'm all for that. As in, no teching, all call-ins, and matches usually only go like 10-20 minutes. Like World in Conflict, but WW2 and with CoH mechanics. That'd be sweet. If it was like that, then sure, the game ending after an early, decisive fight would be fine. |
I find the SP part of the game enjoyable, as long as it's coop. Straight up SP is boring because the AI isn't interesting.
People here are complaining because they mostly only care about competitive MP. I and others welcome it because we like the game but have issues with competitive MP modes enough that we want alternatives.
Reasons why it's nice sometimes to play coop:
1. You can use extinct units if you want.
2. No random 12 year old assholes.
3. You don't have devote many, many hours into it on a regular basis to have a chance.
4. Gonzo style "arena" game play where you run around playing whack-a-capturepoint is cool and everything, but sometimes it's nice to play a mode with objectives and setup scenarios, if for nothing other than variation.

Ostruppen are actually pretty decent. They start to fall off in usefulness once vet 2 hits the field, but before that they're pretty solid.
I love Ostruppen, and if you've found a way to use them, that'd be wonderful if you could upload a replay. I love the concept but I just can imagine how they could be worth it when only 40 MP more gets you grenadiers who are better at everything besides re-crewing and surviving mortars or whatever. I've seen them lose to unupgraded combat engineers in equal cover.
Do you use them against the US mixed with lots of MGs? I can imagine they'd be better there, since Grens lose to rifles and rely on MGs anyway.

Oh, sorry, I was just making a joke about how hopelessly useless the M-42 is, and suggested that relic make a joke commander that combines two of the most useless units in the game.
Relic will never implement your idea, but for the record, I think it's a good one. : ( Ah well. At least it's an extra commander we all got for free. |
M-42 is the Ostruppen of AT guns.
Relic should release a commander on April 1 with a "captured weapons" theme where for only 400 MP you can call in an M-42 crewed by Ostruppen. |
US having a Pershing would rob them of much of their uniqueness. They're balanced around not having a heavy tank and as a bonus this even reflects the focus of US armor strategy. |
You should try playing allies. It's pretty hard, actually. I hate the soviets with a passion. Nearly all of their infantry need to get pretty close to dish out damage, which is really not easy.
The US late game is a micro hell of trying to keep Jacksons alive. |
The game got progressively less blobby starting in march up until WF came out. WF introduced the US and the OKW, both of which are blobbier than OH or SU, as in it's more viable to blob with them because of their unit design.
That said, blobbing with these factions is still suboptimal play and can be countered. It just takes more effort to counter a blob of Pfuses than it takes to counter a blob of grens.
On the whole, the game is still less blobby than it was in February, and still less blobby than the original game.
I'd be happier if blobbing with OKW and US got less viable; such tactics don't jive with the general feel of the series. If I wanted to see a bunch of soldiers duking it out Napoleon style, I'd play Rise of Nations. The less blobbing the better. |
Assault grens are useless vs US and is just a waste of MP.
Either MG34 needs to be standard issue for OKW or Kubel needs a huge increase in performance. Paper thin HP and very limited range and supression also could do looking at. I would prefer this unit be a mobile attack unit to deal with maxim spam and snipers.
Kwagen could be a little more viable (in my casual opinion).
One assault gren can be helpful versus US early game since it gives you a unit that has better DPS than rifles at one range, at least. Just only build one and have it flank while they engage your MG and your regular grens.
Also, guards do not have armor anymore IIRC. Shocks having armor is what makes them shocks, without it they'd be useless for their cost and CP timing. |
