As noted it's a beta. It's going to be a smaller player base than the real game, and there's going to be technical issues that you're going to run into which is the point we want you to run into technical issues so that you can tell us about them.

The trouble is a lot of developers use the word "beta" to mean "demo". This is a beta, it's not a complete working game.

Please do not play it if you expect a complete and working game.

In the future I'd suggest not playing one of our betas if it's going to upset you because it's a beta. We'd rather you wait for the complete game and make your judgments from that. The final game will be a more complete experience, with a larger player pool and viewer technical issues because they've been uncovered by the helpful people in the beta.

Btw Noun, loading games make my game crash don't know if it's a known issue or just an issue for me.

Just played a game vs Tommy, withthe sniper dance. I just didn't feel the need to move sometimes. What's the point? XD
I just think it's a dumb system tbh. Countersnipes did not have effect on the game.

I want to stress out though, I don't see our games as the best value meter of balance, because I feel I screw my micro so much up so many times. Just not being albe to select right units etc .
I think Tommy still has 2 gears to shift up aswell.

Let me remind everyone that in CoH2, units have armor settings, which provide a second layer of protection in the RNG. There is no such thing in vCoH.

Because as soon as any light vehicle comes into play, your sniper is as good as dead.

If you leave your sniper unprotected now, once vehicles hit the field; they are dead too. You need to provide AT in any case.

Make countersnipes 50% on move with heroic criticals on retreat.

That'd be a straight buff which would make snipers even more dominant.

- There are not enough countersnipe opportunities in any given game of a typical duration for the 50% odds to balance out. Whereas every other RNG factor (for example, whether a garand rifle lands a critical hit on an individual enemy unit) will be calculated hundreds if not thousands of times across the span of a game, countersnipes only happen a few times.

I had a 40% health sniper get one shot once on the first (ONLY 1) shot of his M1 garand moving rifleman. It was a game vs Symbiosis on Sturzdorf.
RNG, this will not happen often but it still had a big impact on the game.



The existing system (with my smalls nerfs so snipers less dominating) is still my favorite.

If I really would have to choose a change it would be the passive cover one.

Changes would make infantry company the best choice by far though (which it already kind of is). Why change the stug pop cap? Make it 6 if you absolutely have to change it.
I dislike wehr MG reinforce cost reduction since it doesn't have the same problems as the US .30

I think Airborne and Armor are buffed equally or more. The worst point about airborne being is their reinforce costs and bombing run (looking for solution).

Armor, better (more beastly) Pershing, slightly easier to get Calliope. I don't know how to buff it more tbh without making it straight out the best doctrine. Field repairs are great Awm is even greater, Rapid deployment is definitely useful. And Raid has it uses from time to time (hopefully more with 1cp less).

Rangers are bad vs Wehrmacht, I don't see how they could not use a buff.
Off map combat group might be too much yes, 900 manpower is probably the better price now.

Stug POP CAP: 6 I could live with, ye it might be better than to drastically increase it. And lower the Geschutz to 6 aswell, to close that gap.
Edit: Yup I jumped a bit too fast one that one (only added that change a few days ago). 6 is best, but 4 (same as Puma / Greyhound) I found a little low for a Stug.

How does Wehrmacht MG42 not have the same issue?
It has a reinforce cost of 41 per man so reinforcing 2 men cost 82 manpower.
While if you let it die and reinforce it with 3 volks it's 66 (22mp each) => 16 manpower cheaper off and can reinforce it later (and faster) for a cheaper price aswell. So yes MG42 has the exact same problem.
I don't want things to be let to die be rewarding.
(Medic bunker is already rewarding enough in this case. AWM is an exception to the rule.) Unit preservation should always be key part of the game.

Also, people need to play it to balance it, but as nobody seems to have as much interest in doing that as they do arguing about the changes on the forums, it's all a bit moot really...

I know tbh, that's one the reasons I just posted it all at once. Because there's so many smaller issues and small things. And small good ideas, (not coming only from me) which would improve the gameplay a lot.
And I just wanted to throw them out here. So I don't need to keep them memorized. Some kind of letting go if you will. Some kind of well I did my best, now it's up to the rest of the community. Hopefully there comes some response. But my hopes are pretty low.

Yup agreed, it works better that way. And it's easier to catch out bugs / unintended changes. (Like strafe is still gimped.) It also makes it easier for players to understand the changes. Because I know for some who aren't really into cohstats etc it's sometimes not easy to understand.
