If Brits are intended as a US commander, then why do they get the same stuff OKW gets (commander ability packs)?
If Brits were equivalent to a commander and not a faction, that would mean ability packs would apply to commanders - so there would be no OKW Commander Ability Packs, there would be... dunno, Special Operations Tactics Ability Packs? Which is not the case (and there is such a pack already - it is called the Special Operations Tactics Commander).
It's a new faction. Deal with it. |
oh no please :/ Oh yes please!
Nah this will just be a hangover from somthing brought accross from coh1, just like Shock Troops used to show up in post battle as Rangers.
I wouldn't take too much notice to units and abilities that criss cross the Factions from both games, theres just so many examples if it. I would also be cautious but unless I am mistaken these are new strings added in the current patch. They are also tied in with what are obviously new things to the franchise - the ability to purchase ability packs, custom commanders and the like, which DEFINITELY did not exist at the time WFA was under development. |
No, what I'm implying is that having secure mode as a passive ability creates circumstances where just one veteran tank could destroy the income of the opposing player(s) or neutralize VP's with no effort. A fair argument, and I agree.
But, as I said already, having Blitzkrieg creates circumstances where a tank can avoid damage and get out of blunders and dangerous situations with no effort.
Maybe I should stop comparing Secure Mode to Blitzkrieg as it is obviously not getting us anywhere and can only be seen as justification to ask for potentially unreasonable buffs. Soviets do just fine against Ostheer, in fact. It's more of a "if we already get veteran abilities, I'd like them to be useful and open up the game in various interesting ways".
Don't get me started on medical supplies and trip wire flare. |
Of course. Tanks are rapid response vehicles that infantry simply can't compete with in terms of map control. Are you implying that in this scenario Soviet player has 1 Veteran tank for every potential Axis infantry squad capping, and there are no Axis tanks on the field? |
Hey guys, chill out. Please remember COH1 when it wasn't on steam. They would issue 2 patches a year.... Also, please remember Dune 2, it didn't even have multiple unit selection, so why should CoH2 be any different, amirite?
My point is, it is 2015. Players are often viewed as entitled, but it is completely fair to expect a company to support their product with patches. If they don't want to, that is also cool, but then I don't want to hear how excited they are OVER and OVER again.
Either patch the game and (dare one hope) interact with the community, or kindly tell the said community to garden off so we know where we stand. |
No. A lone tank should not be simultaneously allowed to halt an enemy cap AND shoot at them, that would be op. If you are used to Soviets having useless abilities, then yes, I see how introducing a useful one would be considered OP.
Meanwhile Blitzkrieg is okay and totally balanced. |
Now even though I have been defending Volks thus far, I would like to see panzershreks removed from volks if :
- snip- If Schrecks on Volks are THAT important, that removing them would require such an incredible range of buffs completely going against OKW faction statement, then holy crap, I rest my case. Surely Schrecks on Volks were not meant to have that big of an impact on the game, since the faction was clearly designed with other units in mind. |
i like secure moe nd use it often: chase off harrassing obers or pios with t34 and recap the point --> very good, why is everyone complaining? It is not useless, of course. I myself had that nail-biting IS2-securemode-at-1VP victory. Certainly this ability can win you the game when applied properly.
But compare that with how many times a timely Blitzkrieg saved a vet2 Panther so it lived to fight another day where destroying it would be a game changer...
You also lose field presence by having the tanks pull off capping duty which translates into opportunity costs. |
If you changed the ability to be a passive decap that would be unbalanced as people run around the map cutting territories like no other. I am not sure this would be the case. You would need multiple vetted tanks, and you would need to split them up to achieve any real capping maneuvers. Thus playing against Soviets would achieve nice asymmetrical gameplay : they have no stock heavy hitters like the Panther, but where the US has vehicle crews and flexible forward retreat points, and OKW has superheavies and 5 levels of vet, Soviets would then have capping powah.
Or it could indeed be OP as hell; this is one of those things that we will never know, because Relic will never implement it. Secure Mode is, after all, working as intended . |
It was nerfed once into totally worthless state, 30 muni for increasing acceleration a little bit and little RNG protection, and Allies fanboy stated HOW USEFUL it is, and it is buffed again to this state. Fanboyism aside, it was useless during its (brief) nerf period.
Some would even say...
Secure Mode useless. |
