Frustrated at what I perceive to be Relic's blatant mismanagement of a fantastic franchise.
Worried that SEGA or factors we don't know about might be to blame rather than staff incompetence.
Still sticking with the company hoping for better days. |
The unit is awesome, but I rarely get to build it. Yes it will wipe support weapons but at this time in the game Obers and potentially Stukas are on the field. It might scare away infantry (a good player will just spot the gun being aimed and move at a leisurly pace, literally, outside the blast radius). But, a Panther will net you juicy tank kills, completely negate enemy medium tank rushes, as well as inflict manpower drain on enemy infantry with its MGs.
It is a bit of a niche unit, a siege breaker, good at its job, but the meta does not favour it. You will want a Panther or a KT in 95% of the cases. Does this mean the unit should be buffed? Not really. It just highlights how insanely useful the rest of OKW T4 is. |

TB released a WTF on it. Wow, just watched this. If TB was this positively impressed with a basic RTS such as Grey Goo just imagine what he would say about CoH2. I might be biased but CoH2 is really leaps and bounds ahead in almost every respect, both technically and in terms of game mechanics and depth.
TB is a hugely respected figure when it comes to PC gaming. What saddens me is we or SEGA will never know how much his boycott impacted the game sales, but I am willing to bet it would not be negligible by any means. Especially if he reviewed it now that the game has been polished and has a slew of new content. |
Snipers favor players with good micro and we dont want that This strategy game should definitely favour people with more APM.
Just look at master strategists like Napoleon, Hannibal, von Klausewitz, Guderian. All those guys had insane APM.
I think the game should have you type in what you want your units to do. Select unit, then type in "fire rifles", then enter. Or "throw grenade", then enter. This way the game will favour speed and coordination of hand movements, a crucial skill for any colonel as you may well know, and reward quick thinking even more than now, so that only the best of the best microers will be able to win or even damage enemy units. |
Great idea! This change is actually fairly simple to implement without extra coding. Just changes in the data files.
The only problem is this modifier will not be directional. Like Osttruppen accuracy modifier, it doesn't matter if you flanked them or not - if they are touching cover at any side, they will get the bonus.
But even so, at least we would not be worse off than now - and the primary intended effect of reducing advancing blob toughness would be achieved anyway. |
Seems to me everyone agrees that SOME amount of RNG is good, but not too much. The only thing where opinions differ is how much RNG is acceptable.
In my preference the answer is "a lot". IMO Catastrophic crashes are not that frequent to merit removing from the game. But as I said, preference.
I agree that they fall on units too much because they are shot down over a battlefield, which means they tend to fall in a populated area. Let's just greatly decrease the angle at which airplanes fall down after being shot down. This will increase the fall radius and not only will they fall more offmap than before, they will also have a chance to fall well outside their circle of operations, spreading the risk to the plane owners as well, as it were. |
Off the top of my head, I believe it's not double speed, but rather +1 speed (same as oorah and sprint). So a 33% increase. |
The "normal" resupply of ammo and fuel would not work properly in a game like CoH. But it does have a proper place as an inspiration for game mechanics.
Panzer Elite had cheap ammo abilities, but with absurdly high cooldown times. To rapidly recharge them you had to retreat to home sector, OR be in a proximity to an ammunition halftrack.
I feel Relic dropped the ball on OKW resource strangulation. Remember their "unique resource system and territory capture method" promises? Well tough luck, by the time WFA alpha ended there was nothing left but a flat penalty.
I was hoping "running out of fuel" would be included in the game. I think it would be a pretty cool way to balance the superheavies and totally in keeping with OKW design manifesto. Imagine if Jagdtiger or KT was on a 3 minute fuel counter and after that it was "out of fuel", unable to move, and you'd have to click on an ability icon that spends 30 fuel to reactivate it for further 3 minutes. |
So from this thread I learned that :
- people do not want new factions in the game for some reason (why add diversity amirite?) Mentions of difficulty to balance are tossed around, as if the game is balanced at the moment. I completely agree that increasing the number of matchups would completely upset the combinatorics, but that is for the good. The deeper meta, especially in teamgames, would be greatly beneficial for the game.
- people want to see fringe axis armies like Italian, or Japanese, instead of more Germans, for reasons that are also quite unfathomable to me. For all intents and purposes, no other Axis aligned army had a complete roster of effective units that saw battle in a large number that could compete with the current two allied factions as they are ingame without massive fudging of numbers.
- people are adverse to reintroduction of certain Panzer Elite units. Why so? Relic has already shown that even the units that were carried over from CoH1 were completely overhauled. Panzer Elite had actually a better design than Brits, and its only real problem was that it was in fact Halftrack Elite.
We are somewhat running out of German infantry units (Panzerfusiliers totally different from Panzergrenadiers? Really?), some shuffling about and creativity could make at least one more well-rounded German faction, and possibly even two. Oh and another Soviet faction would also be easy.
With a bit different stats, tiering / base building, and abilities, there is no reason why the third faction's somethinggrenadiers wouldn't play radically different and add depth to the game.
Brits and 3rd Axis faction, yes please. It would open up the meta in ways we can only dream of at the moment. |
Fair enough, deflections and bugged out behaviour notwithstanding. |
